Welcome to adventure in far north Siskiyou County! Firebird Ridge presents a fantastic secluded camp station in a beautiful semi-wild setting with huge open sky views over 50 miles of the Klamath River canyon and Siskiyou Crest. Just 10 minutes off the freeway, a variety of simple thoughtfully laid out sites afford comfy car and tent camping or smaller RVs and vans, with ample privacy. Small to medium size (5-15p) groups may combine sites and enjoy some shared space and amenities, please inquire. **04/25: entry road has 1 mile bumpy section awaiting maintenance** At an elevation just under 3000 feet, the Ridge gets lots of sun, with cold nights and hot days in winter and summer respectively. This is a drier climate between May and October, meaning some fire risk and potential smoke impacts in area forests, although the mountainside location generally offers clean fresh air with stunning sunsets and excellent stargazing. The land contains over a mile of scenic trails with rock features, gnarly old "bonsai" oak trees, native plants and wildflowers in a landscape undergoing restoration to healthy diverse fire resistant conditions. Wildlife abounds, mostly the friendly sort however visitors should be mindful to avoid unwelcome encounters, and any small children or pets kept under close watch. Your host can address questions or concerns. Count on fair to good cell service, wifi and power are centrally accessible too. Activity and development on site are minimized to enhance natural habitat and ambience. Guests are advised to minimize disturbance of other occupants and lifeforms. It's fine to have fun and make some intermittent noise but disruptive or damaging behavior will be curtailed. This extends to the neighborhood as well, especially on the road in/out where it's important to keep your speed (dust, noise etc) DOWN in the vicinity of houses. The property is not a park, playground, or big backyard, in fact probably not much like anyplace you've been...prepare for a novel experience! Come as a guest, not a customer, and find yourself at home in the wild. Youth visitors are welcome but must be supervised and receptive to guidelines. This location is not set up (yet) for people with mobility challenges, or people with no prior wilderness experience.

This site tucked under a sprawling old oak has magnificent 180 degree panoramic views. Set up 1-3 tents on a single large 15x20' wooden deck platform that is nicely shaded during warmer parts of the day. Centrally located and convenient to group kitchen and dining, bathhouse, and parking for multiple vehicles.

The Alcove tent site sits aloft in seclusion just a short walk (about 50 meters) up the ridge from parking, and has room for one smaller (2-3 person) tent ensconced amid panoramic views. A super quiet and private space to spend the night with the stars...or enjoy a longer minimalist personal wilderness retreat?! Small fire pit nearby, walk to nearby group cook space, bathhouse, and outdoor lounge. Trails meander outward to several vistas and features to explore. **This is an affordable option for solo travelers, and goes up in cost per occupant beyond that. If you are a group of two or more, please consider other available sites first!

Great campsites! Gorgeous views! Ben was a wonderful host. His property is fantastic, from the really cool tent platform to the unique and beautiful bathroom to his creations with found items throughout. I'd 100% stay here again.

Peaceful picturesque spot away from it all. For a 10 min detour from the I-5, I was transported to a tranquil thoughtful campground overlooking the valley. An evening hike to a swimming pond. Great campsite and fire pit. Sunset and a huge night sky full of stars. Definitely recommend!

This is a beautiful site!! Ben was very helpful when we arrived with a wood fire pit ready to start. Very peaceful with amazing stars and sunrise. It’s on the top of a mountain so lots of gravel uphill to get there. But we easily made it with our Subaru and teardrop trailer. It’s worth the trek!

Sad we only spent one night! Ben was a lovely and warm host and we came on a beautiful day on the cusp of summer to fall, got to see a magnificent sunset and SO MANY STARS. Such a lovely tucked away spot for a stopover on the 5, we'll be back again!

Ben was welcoming and kind as we met on his land to go over the details of the campsite. I appreciate that he took the time to tell me about the history of the area while we sat around a bonfire he started. He told me about small trails around the property (which I did explore). The land itself is STUNNING. The view from the campsite are incredible, and the site itself is well managed, easy to find, and comfortable. I highly recommend checking this site out. I plan to stay again as a stop over on road trips through the area.

We enjoyed a quiet, restful evening at Ben‘s place after a long drive. A 10 minute detour from I5, it was super accessible and easy to find. We had the whole place to ourselves among the junipers, pinon pines, oaks and volcanic rocks. The compostable toilet was spotless and came with a great view of the neighboring hills. Ben was super communicative and knowledgeable about the area. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, and even did some research to find out the easiest, most interesting route for us to the Oregon coast. My wife and I highly recommend a stopover here.

What a treat to find this beautiful spot on an ancient volcano above the Klamath River, and meet Ben, the thoughtful and kind host who is stewarding and creating some magic with the land. I was the only guest for the evening and had my pick of several nice spots. This location is great for a stopover on I-5, or to start an adventure up or down the Klamath River. I’d bring your own water, and make it in time for a gorgeous sunset overlooking the valley.

camping spot was gorgeous! Host was super friendly and thoughtful. He let us know when the best time to arrive was to avoid the heat. Gave great recommendations as to what to check out locally. And he brought up a bucket of water to wash in in the morning! Would totally camp here again 💕
