Off-grid without being remote. About 8 minutes from a small nearby town on county-maintained roads (when they get around to it). It’s generally very quiet here, though you may occasionally hear quads and trucks passing through. Wildlife is abundant: elk, mule deer, antelope (two species), coyotes, jackrabbits, cottontail rabbits, and ground squirrels are often seen. Hiking, mountain biking, off-roading, horseback riding, and recreational shooting are available in the National Forest about half a mile down the road. Horse boarding is also available. The Corral gas station is a local meeting spot with a small sitting area and community bulletin board. When people wave at you, they’re not mistaking you for someone else—wave back. Folks are very friendly here. The sleepy town of Ash Fork on historic Route 66 (8 minutes by car) has a few interesting shops, a museum, two local restaurants, a truck stop with fast food, and local mechanics who keep everyone moving. Ash Fork is known as the Flagstone Capital of America—or the World, depending on who you ask. Relax and surf the web at the air-conditioned local library, a key community hub and package pickup location. And yes, there’s a bar—its claim to fame is a giant teakwood elephant head. If petting a teakwood elephant is on your bucket list, you’re in luck. Your campsite location is up to you. Choose a shaded or open spot depending on your preference. Tent sites are served by a porta-potty. Several water fill locations are available, and we keep a few hundred gallons on site for refills. There is a dump station in town for RVs. Most importantly, someone will be within shouting distance if needed. Please note this is a working ranch. Dogs must be leashed, tethered, or under direct control at all times. Do not approach livestock—free-range animals can be protective and should be respected at a distance.This is dispersed camping, please pick your site upon arrival. This partially forested property located in Williams AZ delivers the peace, quiet and privacy you crave without being remote. "County maintained roads" offer fairly easy access for RVs and cars. No 4-wheeling required. Just a few miles from the town of Ash Fork which features: * A reasonably friendly bar. * A classic breakfast and dinner restaurant of incongruous interior design. It's kinda like they had generic corporate postmodernism going but they suddenly got lost at a garage sale. * A Punjabi (Continental Indian) restaurant of even more incongruous interior design (American Ranch) which always amuses me. They have a more upscale assortment of adult beverages (think Makers Mark and Grey Goose) which they don't really advertise. * 3 gas stations, 3 fast food joints, a historic Route 66 museum, some curious stores and shops, one of those Family Dollar Tree stores, a few mechanics shops, a water station, and plenty of not much else. There are a few places we get packages delivered to. 25 minutes to Williams City, the "Gateway To The Grand Canyon".
