Hosts show bias, discriminate.
We had reserved for 3 nights, looking forward to a quiet rest after a long trip. After being greeted by Jeffrey who was quite charming, we were shown to our site, given basic camp info, and proceeded to set up our teardrop. All seemed well with some small hitches. First, our site choice wouldn’t work because you’re not allowed to park close to your trailer, and, in our case, a teardrop doesn’t have room for stuff, so we had to move to a space closer to allowed parking. Not ideal but OK. Wind was predicted, but we were not allowed to stake the canopies over our doors. Not ideal, but OK. We used bricks. After two hours, we were all set up, and I went to enjoy the scheduled feeding of the goats. When I returned, I saw the host’s wife talking to my husband. She was asking us to leave the next day because we didn’t “fit their profile” and didn’t have the right “vibe”. She was unhappy that my husband was a smoker, even though he completely left the property to smoke, also didn’t like that he was quietly playing clawhammer banjo in our camp at 3 in the afternoon. We are in our 70’s, lifetime campers taught from childhood to be considerate, observe quiet hours, leave no trace. This was a first for us. We left immediately and were forced to get a hotel because nothing else was available. It was shocking!
