Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.

Located just 2 miles off I-10, 8 miles to the West of Sierra Blanca, and 80 miles South/South-East of El Paso. This property is truly a part of the "OLD WEST". Sierra Blanca was named after Sierra Blanca Mountain, just North-West of town. The town came into existence when competing railroads for a second (Southern) transcontinental railroad line came within 10 miles of one another in 1881. Jay Gould, famous railroad magnate and robber baron, drove a silver spike commemorating the event on Dec. 15th 1881. The town sprang up around that spot, although the population didn't reach 350 people until 1914. It is best described as grazing land that is flat to slightly sloping terrain covered with desert sagebrush and grasses. Larger RVs have trouble turning or parking so please no rvs over 26 ft. Bring your own toilet. Wildlife include rabbits and hares, javelina, woodcock, teal, sandhill crane, quail, pronghorn, mule deer, duck, dove, rattlesnake, rails, gallinules, and moorehens, toads and a variety of lizards.

We are not a commercial campground. Primitive campsites offer nice views, amazing starry sky, solitude, and a small flat space to set up camp next to your vehicle. Currently the road has been washed away some so no rv camping at this time. No shade, toilets, or other amenities are provided. Directions to camping spot are very clear! Was able to find late at night. Anna Mae is super responsive if needed. The site was much quieter than I expected with close proximity to I-10 which was really nice since I was in a tent.

This was a great place to pull over and stay the night. Right off 10, a little tricky to get to, so do it when it's light outside. We would stop again.

I booked this Hipcamp last minute after I couldn’t find one site I had booked. I am SO GLAD because this one was SO GREAT! The host responded promptly to my concerns. I had a hard time finding the site at first but eventually noticed that the pictures gave better landmarks. The site had solar lights to help navigate big divots in the ground (oh yeah, drive SLOW). The sky was unbelievable and the stars in the middle of the night were gorgeous. 15/10

Conveniently located off the highway. It was a minimalist site, private from other campers, perfect for an easy, affordable spot to sleep on a roadtrip. The camping spots are a little hard to locate even with the directions and pictures, as it’s a big property and you drive down several long dirt roads past a trailer etc. There is a fair amount of wind blown litter as you’d expect for a roadside location.

Annie’s outpost is in the brush desert. You can see the highway a couple miles away. You can see him couple hundred foot tall cell tower a mile or so away. For my style of camping and traveling this place was great. There were trash, cans and multiple fire pits. I would not take any vehicle there unless it was a high clearance vehicle. Midsize SUV or larger. Forget anything like an RV. 100% with stay again. Just know what you’re getting into. T-Mobile service was great. Plenty of downed wood, or I should say down brush for a fire.
