Kangarutha Farm is a nature-based destination set on a stunning coastal estate, minutes from Tathra. Bordering Bournda National Park, the property features expansive tracts of pristine native forest, wide-open paddocks, and scenic dams. The farm offers a small number of secluded, tranquil campsites scattered across the property. Perfect for those seeking peace and privacy, the sites provide space to relax around a campfire and immerse yourself in the natural bush and paddock surrounds. We intentionally only have a limited number of campsites on our large property, so that you can enjoy camping in a natural setting away from the crowd. We have drinking water, flushing accessible toilets and one hot shower in a central location a short walk from the campsites. We have a small campers amenities room with a basic kitchen (i.e. a sink, power, kettle, small fridge, microwave) and dining table and chairs, which is a place to do your dishes or shelter in rainy weather. There are also other outdoor pavilions in the central areas on the property. Enjoy the forest trails here on the property, which take you on a tour to our peaceful back dam. Or explore further afield - our place links to both the Tathra-Kalaru bike track and the Bournda National Park, where you can access the Tathra Mountain Bike Trail Network, as well as the secluded coves along the Kangarutha Walking Track. Our property is dog friendly for well-behaved dogs that don't chase wildlife or the horses on our property. No hunting dogs. Campfires permitted when there are no restrictions. You can gather your own wood, or we can prepare wood for you. Kangarutha also has a country style cottage (with a tennis court!) available for holiday rental - maybe for the parents or friends who are not so into camping! We also have recently launched a new venue 'The Nursery' at Kangarutha Farm, so consider holding your next event at Kangarutha! Contact us for details. Camp by the Dam
Kangarutha exceeded our expectations of a typical Hipcamp in many ways. On arrival, we were welcomed by Tom who provided us with plenty of information about how to find our site and access to facilities. We camped by the dam on our own, for a week and swam and SUPed every day in the dam. The farm provides great bathroom facilities including a hot shower - a real luxury for a couple of tired travellers. In the camp kitchen we found detailed maps of the farm's other camp sites for larger groups, and details of the many forest walks and secret picnic places. We highly recommend Kangarutha to future Hipcamp travellers!

The campsite was absolutely stunning! I expected to arrive at a paddock and instead we were met by a beautifully maintained environment with multiple amenities and a gorgeous backdrop! Tom made the effort to come and find us to greet us with a map and he was quick to respond when I needed to adjust my booking via text.

Round Yard Paddock Camp
Great spot - so close to Tathra. Many options for the stay - camp in the bush, on a dam or in an open paddock. All locations have their highlights. Stay in a tent, a caravan or even a cabin. People will love the access to a toilet and a shower and a camp kitchen. Bins provided- so nice not to have to worry about the disposal of rubbish. Should be a must for all hipcamps.

Fantastic camping spot! Tom’s communication was excellent from start to finish, and he was very hospitable and welcoming. The sites are large, private, and well spaced, making it very peaceful. Amenities are clean and well maintained, and the location is great. Beautiful property overall — highly recommended and we’ll definitely be back.

Big Paddock Sunset Camp
Fantastic and beats crowded and noisy holiday parks hands down. Space and more space was the best. Views with peace and quiet. Close to Bega and Tathra. Also having a shower, flushing toilet and running potable water nearby at the farm stay made our five night camping experience so easy and enjoyable. Thank you Tom & Lisa for hosting us at your property and we really hope we get back someday soon. Ed & Jo 👏👏👏

Big Paddock Corner Camp
The farm had plenty of space, and the campsites were well spread out, which made it great for privacy. The amenities were clean, and Tom was easy to communicate with. It’s also a very short drive to beautiful beaches and national parks.

We camped down by the dam. The spot was absolutely stunning. We took inflatable toys, and swam in the dam all day long with the dogs. It really was a prefect stay. The toilet and shower were nearby and were in fairly good condition. We took a little longer packing up past our check out time, and Tom was extremely understanding and friendly about it. Would highly recommend!

Absolutely beautiful farm and camp site! The Camp by the Dam site was private, peaceful, scenic and sheltered from the wind, with views over the dam. We experienced a lot of wildlife (wallabies, kangaroos, lizards, frogs, horses and heaps bird life). We spotted kookaburras, nectar eaters and two different kinds of Kingfisher birds (if you enjoy birdwatching, I recommend taking binoculars!). It was the perfect spot for our dog to be primarily off lead and she absolutely loved it, with plenty of space to run and play. We had the entire farm to ourselves for our three night stay, and even if other campers had been on site, it still would have been very private. Waking up to bird song was absolutely delightful. The kitchen, toilet and shower facilities were great to have access to, within a short distance walk. The kitchen has a small fridge, microwave and washing up facilities, dining table, air conditioning and power points to recharge our power bank for our phones. There were plenty of communal areas which would be perfect for group events (large outdoor dining area/table and chairs, fire pit, beautifully landscaped spaces, events building with large kitchen, dining and lounge area). There were recycling and general rubbish bins, and toilet paper was provided. We ordered a wheelbarrow of wood for our three night stay which was more than enough for our time there and was ready on site for our arrival. We can't wait to book our next visit! Highly recommend!

Kangarutha Bush Camp Site 1
This is a fantastic camp, we would return anytime! Kangarutha is a very charming property and the bush campsites are large and set in amongst beautiful large gum trees. There are walking trails and several lakes on the property - ideal for us to walk the dog and get some exercise. Thank you, Lisa and Tom!

Kangarutha Bush Camp Site 1
We had a wonderful mid-week stay at Kangarutha Bush Camp (Site 1) for 5 nights with our two dogs. It was the perfect peaceful spot and such a great base to explore the surrounding areas. Lisa and Tom were lovely hosts, welcoming, friendly, and always happy to help. The amenities were clean and well looked after, which made our stay even more comfortable. Our dogs absolutely loved the open space and bush setting, and we really appreciated how dog-friendly the site was. Loved the camping at Kangarutha farm. Lots of space for the bush campsites. Tom and Lisa were amazing in guiding through the way. We reached a bit late on our first night but Tom helped a lot to find the camp-site.

We love camping here - close to town but you feel as though you are in the bush - the trees and birdlife are lovely Lisa and Tom are great hosts - they are very welcoming

Big Paddock Tank Camp
We had the best stay at Kangarutha Farm! Lisa and Tom were responsive, accomodating and kind hosts. Our dog Rupert loved running around the paddock, meeting the horses and swimming in the dam. The facilities are great and more than we expected. Hot showers, clean bathrooms and a great space inside to wash up. The sites are really well spaced out so you don’t feel like you are on top of each other! We stayed at the big paddock site and loved it. Waking up each morning infront of the tall Eucalyptus trees and the dam was picture perfect. Only a short 2-3 minute drive into town too! Can’t recommend this place more highly!

Kangarutha Bush Camp Site 2
We loved staying at the bush camp site. It’s a beautiful location with full facilities-with only 8 campsites it feels like you are the only ones there. We walked to Tartha for breakfast and stayed for lunch. Great outing for a beautiful spring day. And Sooooo many whales, and dolphins and seals.

Kangarutha Bush Camp Site 2
Beautiful bush land with spacious clearings for campers. Not many camping sites so it feels peaceful and in nature. Well kept grounds and good facilities - we didn’t mind the 10min walk to the bathroom. Lovely walks around the farm and dam - lots of tree ferns. Our hosts provided heaps of cut and stacked firewood: a treat. Only 5 mins drive to Tathra.

Camp by the Dam
We loved our stay at Kangarutha Farm, we had the camp by the dam which was absolutely stunning! Felt like we were miles from everyone, tranquil and beautiful setting with a an awesome sunset. Tom was the perfect host, nothing was a bother. Facilities were immaculately maintained….would definitely recommend a stay :)

Big Paddock Creek Camp
Camping at Kangarutha Farm was delightful! We tent camped in the Big Paddock Creek Camp and there was plenty of space for the three of us (two tents, two vehicles.) The facilities were clean and well-stocked, and having our bikes made the distance between our tents and them easy to cover! Our dog loved being able to explore the paddock and meet the friendly horses, and the bike trail into Tathra goes right past the farm making it really easy to cycle or walk into town. Tom was super friendly and has a very cute dog! We would definitely come back again!

Round Yard Paddock Camp
Beautiful property, 10min drive to tathra beach. Gorgeous spacious sites, and fantastic to have toilets, shower and camp kitchen with sink and sheltered table :) we stayed in the round yard paddock and it's a beautiful (if sunny) spot with the field all to yourself :)

We had such a beautiful and peaceful time camping in bush camp 1. So much wildlife and bush walks. Lovely hot shower and clean toilets. Close to all the towns and mtb tracks. Definitely stay again.

Camp site was large and peaceful. It’s is far from the bathroom but we never minded the lovely stroll to the loo or kitchen. There’s a lovely covered area which we used for a dinner. Overall lovely place
