This is Maggie's Mirror that runs through the property. It is in flood stage. Picture was taken before Spring turned everything green. It also shows a cable bridge that my son and I built that crosses Maggie's Mirror to the stairway down to the Chippewa.

Maggies Merry Mirror

Rural property that once was a combination of a dairy farm and commercial woodland. It is rare in that it has a 40 acre field, a 5 acre island, a year round creek and over 2,000 feet of river frontage and nearly 40 acres of woods.

There are over 80 acres of woods, fields and an island to explore. The property has over 2,000 feet of frontage on the Chippewa River. There is also a year around creek that flows through the property to the river. Currently there are three separate sites that are suitable for camping on the bank of the Chippewa. Each site is primitive and has lots of privacy. There are five trails that go through the woods as well as follow the bank of the river. There is a stairway that descends to the river. The river at this point is rather pristine. There are no houses on the camping side of the river and just a few on the opposite side. The river along the property is great for wading, swimming, canoeing/kayaking and fishing. There are over a dozen lakes within a 20 mile radius of the property. Less than 3 miles from the property there are snowmobile and four wheeling trails that connect to trails that extend over 300 miles. The property is less than 15 miles from the headquarters of the Ice Age Trail that stretches from near Superior to near Madison, Wisconsin.

This shows the creek and river flooding during early Spring 2015. One of the campsites is on the point in the foreground of this picture.

This is another bridge that crosses the creek. Just above the bridge I am constructing a dam to form a fishing pond on the property.

Gaia Dera on the Flambeau

Learn more about this land:Welcome to Gaia Dera. I am sorry to have to close down the camp while we go through the process of getting the local permits and building the needed infrastructure to make your wilderness escape as enjoyable as possible.. The Land was Blessed on June 20 1998 in a Sacred Ritual as a Retreat Center dedicated to help people connect to the perpetual  healing energies of the Earth.We call these Energies "Gaia"To help individuals and families connect to these healing energies we are developing a group camp with a 400sqft camper with a kitchen, shower and composting toilet.All the grounds and services will be available to all guests. they include: The Waffle / Espresso Bar;  open from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AMA large sauna with views of the Flambeau river and Sturgeon Bay.There is a swimming beach on a peninsula, docks, a canoe, 2 kayak a row boat and many other perks for our campers and guests.  Site #1 ... The French called the river Flambeau because the natives would harvest the rice at night with torches in their canoes.

The HYDEaway

Learn more about this land:Our property is located on the Chippewa River with a public boat landing on the north end. The River is great for fishing, canoeing  and tubing. We are  2.8 miles from Rusk County Forest Chippewa Block with access to Dodson disk golf course, Hiking, Hunting and Fishing.  We are about 20 miles from Blue Hills Trail system and Felsenmeer, and the Ice Age Trail.

A canoe, paddles and 2 lifejackets are available to use during your stay is included in the rate.

Trapper Arts Camping Retreat

Trapper Arts Retreat in NW Wisconsin has (3) waterfront sites and (1) wooded site. Located on a 1/4 mile long dead-end road (except Bob Lake West) on a 90 acre clear water no-wake lake. Only 5 minutes from the Chippewa County Forest for hiking/biking/ATV adventures! 

SEASONAL NOTE: Starting May 1st the water will be turned on and the row boats will put in! You are still welcome to continue to book our sites if you don't need water or a row boat.  Electric hook-ups are always available.

The Chippewa County Forest (over 10,000 acres) Hickory Ridge Trailhead is located about 5 miles away. You can enjoy miles of hiking, biking, ATV or horseback riding trails. Trails wind past small lakes and beaver ponds, as well as spectacular vistas and abundant wild life.

LIST OF SITES (all of our sites now include a portable toilet, firewood, fire ring, water, power, picnic table and/or chairs).

BIRCH Waterfront is named for the beautiful birch trees that frame your view of the lake that also includes soothing evening loon sounds :) It is our medium size campsite with a level gravel and grass pad with lakefront access via the long wooded dock and an included row boat for fishing and boating. 

EAGLE POINT Waterfront is a favorite because it is the most private, surrounded by trees and is on a elevated waterfront lot with steps down to a dock. This site has a canoe and a row boat and the best spectacular sunset views. The eagle's nest is in a tall pine tree above the steps!

BOB LAKE WEST Waterfront is our only site that is not on this dead end road. It is located on the west side of the lake near the boat landing. This site has a bonus small storage shed which could be a cool kids cabin. It is partially wooded elevated site with stunning sunrise views.

BOB LAKE WOODED is a non-waterfront campsite for both tents or RV's that has been updated to a level site with power and water and includes access to the lake and a row boat at our common access which is only about 200 yards down the road from this site.

This property was previously owned by Trapper Art who was well known in the area and started several successful businesses dating back to 1967 including Art's Snowmobile, Trapper Arts, and Art's Electric which was quite an accomplishment in the Wisconsin Northwoods!
