We currently have 3 tent sites within a couple hundred feet of the pavilion, which offers not only one of the best camp bathrooms you've ever experienced but also a 24' X 32' sheltered area for those unexpected downpours. We are located 1 mile from route 33 and 4 miles from routes 50 & 32. There are two Vineyard/Wineries within a 3 mile radius and we're only 7 miles from Athens and Ohio University's Convocation Center and football stadium. We offer over 5 miles of hiking trails with beautiful second growth hardwoods and a lake view.

At Sparkman Lake, we are a small family-owned and operated business, a private little get-a-way spot, and a place you "can get lost for a little while".
Nestled in the hills of Monroe County, Ohio, Sparkman Lake (approx. 3 acres) sits on 40+ acres of the wooden area directly off State Route 145. We are located between Malaga & Miltonsburg. Sitting just a few miles away from the intersection with State Route 800 in Malaga, Ohio. The site offers 5 fully furnished cozy rustic rental cabins, a 4 bedroom deluxe cabin & 12 RV full hook-up lots. Individual parking is available at each lot.
We took over in December 2018. We are constantly upgrading our property and completing projects to help improve our beautiful piece of land. It started with some simple property cleanup, clearing brush, fixing broken structures, and adding stone for instant transformations.
Our goal is to offer our community a local place to visit and enjoy themselves, the great outdoors, fishing, pedal boating, and sitting around a campfire. As well as a close option to stay when you visit our wonderful county. We hope to continue providing this service.

John’s land is well kept. He and his wife are great hosts. The restroom and showers were very clean. It was wonderful having them available to use. The nights were peaceful. The night sky was beautiful. We’ll definitely be back here.

It’s everything other reviewers have mentione; quiet, private, and the amenities offered makes it easy to feel comfortable wherever you fall on the rustic scale. It became a tradition to come too John and Julie at their site with friends! We love the commodity of the gazebo, the shade, the showers and the kitchen with all the convenience. It is always beautifully maintained and we always have such a great time. We rented the 3 sites and come with a group of friend. We had a great time and plan to come back before the winter!

Beautiful location and grounds. Three well dispersed campsites with picnic tables and fire rings. There’s a pavilion with flush toilets, showers, a refrigerator and a large covered concrete area. They also built a stage area where they plan on doing more concerts.
John and Julie were great hosts. We were there for three nights. John greeted us to show us the lay of the land and then stopped by the next day to make sure we had everything we needed. Julie gifted us some of her beautiful natural handmade soaps. We really enjoyed our stay.

Our family had an amazing stay at Jellystone Park in Nelsonville. We close to the caves, the kids had endless things to do, the floating obstacle course and bounce float at the take were so much fun. The and beach area is beautiful and the pool was phenomenal! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

We had such a great time up here! John and Julie were so welcoming and kind! The area was in a beautiful field tucked away on a hilltop. The area was very private, and each campsite was spread out, if each were full it would still feel private. The land was very well maintained, and so were the bathrooms! It was so nice to have the luxury of a private bathroom and shower while camping, especially on a hot day. The trail and walkways around the fields were fun to explore and full of butterflies and birds! It was also close to town too, so it was easy to head in to visit some of my Athens favorites :) I’d absolutely recommend staying here, and will be back! I think this would be a really great spot to come back with a group of friends!

What a great camp! Carl is very personable, the grounds are beautiful, it’s very secluded (ie; off the beaten path). The camp has a common area to hang out and cook or bonfire or play games. There is also a full ~on grid~ bathroom with a shower and that’s attached to a small game room with a tv and air hockey (if you absolutely feel the need to stay connected). A really peaceful getaway but only about an hour drive to Marietta to the SW, Granville to the NE & Hocking Hills to the south. My sister and I tent/car camped here for 4 nights and 5 days and really hated to leave. 😊
