We are located 10 minutes from the interstate and Winterplace Ski Resort and just 20 minutes from New River Gorge State Park. Corn hole boards, swings, campsite cookers and chairs are provided.
Want to see 5 star panoramic views of the Appalachian Mountains? This ultra-safe, ultra-private property is located only 10 minutes off interstate 77. There is only one farm past ours so road traffic is very minimal. Plenty of room to do what you and your pets want to do while exploring our 60 acres. The sun rises up behind the view and lets you see just a little further. It is nothing short of amazing. The sunrises are always different and some are the most beautiful you have ever seen. The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. View stars as only those miles away from any light can experience. The crickets and whippoorwills will sing you to sleep. I have discovered a screenhouse is a great way to camp-a way to be in it (the elements) but out of them. Presenting a 10x12 rustic screenhouse located near everything you want to do!
Inside the "cabin" you will find a full sized bed, table and two chairs, and a countertop for preparing meals. Outside you will find a biolite stove and star gazing chairs. I provide filtered water, dishes, a single burner stove, coffee grinder and kettle, french press and an air/foam mattress and an electric generator. You bring your bedding and toiletries. Your own private shower and toilet are just a short walk in the main house.
Walking distance to the New River Gorge Visitors Center and Bridge, Endless Wall and trails are just a mile away.
The cabin is tucked into the trees, with a view of nothing but trees on three sides! You will however hear a bit of traffic noise.

Weekend Trip to Prayer Mountain
Spending a day and night at Brandon's A-frame cabin was a positive experience my partner and I will never forget. The cabin itself was cozy and stocked with all the essentials. The surrounding area is what really made for a memorable experience. We came in late, well after dark, and were greeted by a small persistent goat attendant who kept us company while we got settled. The next morning, we were greeted by several more, as well as peacocks, emu, pigs, and donkeys. We had no idea there were so many animals and were delighted to hang out with them all morning long.

Everything was excellent!! Lynn had everything I needed and more for my stay. The location was beautiful and secluded and right next to the visitors center. Lynn had endless recommendations as to what to do in the area. If I ever come back to the area I will definitely stay there again. Also bonus! The floors of the site were squishy and felt great after a day of hiking.

Weekend Trip to Shady Retreat
I had a wonderful spring break camping trip at Shady Retreat with my daughter. The campsite was well-stocked with plenty of firewood, which made evenings by the fire especially enjoyable and stress-free.
There was also plenty of great camping equipment available to use, including very comfortable chairs for sitting and lounging by the fire. The outdoor sink for washing dishes was a really convenient touch and made camp life much easier.
Lynn was an exceptional host—she gave us plenty of privacy to relax and enjoy nature, while still being available whenever we had questions. Her recommendations for local hikes, scenic drives, and restaurants really helped us make the most of our trip.
The bathrooms were clean and conveniently located, which made the overall experience even more comfortable.
Overall, this was a peaceful, family-friendly getaway, and we would definitely recommend Shady Retreat to anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the outdoors.

I have been a Hipcamper for a few years and Lynn has been my best host by far! She is very friendly, inviting and informative! She will invite you into her home and treat you like family from the go. Get ready to also meet some cute cats!
She has put her heart and soul into providing a cool, safe and natural environment. The tree house and amenities are well planned out. There was a tour given upon arrival of the grounds and specifics of the tree house. Lynn has plenty of suggestions on how to enjoy Bridge Day and the area in general.

Camped overnight for a weekend trip to New River Gorge, one of the best hip camp experiences we've had so far!
Host was terrific, cooking amenities top-notch, comfortable bed, and friendly local cats.
Access to a full bathroom with running water was a blessing, and the space is beautiful.
Proximity to everything in the park is the biggest plus, you are next to EVERYTHING. 11/10, we will stay here again for sure.
