Property was owned by my great grandfather , He lost 150 acres in the early 1900's due to a bad debt from neighboring landowner. Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Ponds were built to catch runoff and several new animal species moved in waterfowl ,muskrats, and beavers. The beavers have constructed large dams on property further adding to the beauty. Have seen several bald eagles on and around the property.

Bluestone Camp & Retreat is a Presbyterian Summer Camp Program with organized summer youth and family camp activities over 4 weeks in June and July, and a three-season Retreat Destination for a variety of church, non-profit, and family groups April through November. We are a ministry of the Presbytery of West Virginia (PCUSA) serving member congregations as well as many other church and non-profit organizations. Bluestone has been in operation since 1953. Our Mission is to provide experiences that are character building in nature through Summer Camping Programs and other programmatic events for children, youth, and adults; and to provide opportunities for recreation, rest, and renewal through the use of our facilities as a Center of Christian Hospitality. We have five camp sites that overlook the Bluestone Lake Reservoir.  Each is a clearly defined 60' x 20' space along one side of a level grass field, and each is equipped with a 50/30/20 amp electric pedestal, water spigot, sewer drop, picnic table, and an above ground steel campfire pit. There is also a shower house available for Hipcampers to use.   We have two price points: 1. Our Regular Price per night is $35 based on double occupancy. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10. 2. Our price increases to $50 per night for the months of June and July which is our high season. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10. Youth and Children ages 11 and younger are free, so keep that in mind when you select the number of guests in your party!

What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna. I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose. Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain. Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking. The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure! I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. While these improvements are great, we still caution our guests to avoid bringing large trailers and to use 4WD if available in an attempt to minimize rutting in the future. Seasoned hardwood firewood is available on site for $6/bundle. You are allowed to bring your own firewood, but only if you source your firewood locally because invasive pest species can travel in firewood. Possum Holler Camp is a Leave No Trace campsite, guests are asked to pack out anything they bring in and leave the area undisturbed. This includes damaging vegetation, creating new fire rings, or altering the natural area in any way. Also, please do not camp in the meadow area and only use the cleared out areas in the woods surrounding the parking and picnic/fire area for pitching tents. If you stay below the high water line, then feel free to move as far up or downstream Mill Creek as you like. The creek is indescribably beautiful in both directions! But please keep in mind that there is private property once you are above the high water line, please do not trespass on our neighbor's property.

We are located 20 minutes from downtown Blacksburg and Virginia tech but with a country atmosphere and a view of the New River. If you are chill, you can use our picnic table and fire pit. We also have an electric hookup and trash can on the front porch for your use. Our home and campsite has a river view BUT NO river access. Please do not cross onto our neighbors property! However, if you want to access the river, the New River Junction is .5 miles down the road and has tube rentals late spring to early fall! Our home is easy to find, turn from Prices Fork rd onto McCoy rd and follow it to the end (approx 7 miles). Turn right at the stop sign and we are to the left off Big Falls in .3 miles. Our house is visible form the road and has a trampoline and chickens roaming. Be aware, there is limited cell service and NO bathroom. Pee jars welcome. This is low budget after all! There is also a train a couple times a day. We think its pretty quiet but you be the judge! Happy camping!

Looking for an affordable place to park your car, camper-van, or tent in Blacksburg? Thats us! We are located 20 minutes from downtown Blacksburg and Virginia tech but with a country atmosphere and a view of the New River. If you are chill, you can use our picnic table and fire pit. We also have an electric hookup and trash can on the front porch for your use. Our home and campsite has a river view BUT NO river access. Please do not cross onto our neighbors property! However, if you want to access the river, the New River Junction is .5 miles down the road and has tube rentals late spring to early fall! Our home is easy to find, turn from Prices Fork rd onto McCoy rd and follow it to the end (approx 7 miles). Turn right at the stop sign and we are to the left off Big Falls in .3 miles. Our house is visible form the road and has a trampoline and chickens roaming. Be aware, there is limited cell service and NO bathroom. Pee jars welcome. This is low budget after all! There is also a train a couple times a day. We think its pretty quiet but you be the judge! Happy camping!

Mark is a great host and communicator. He gave us clear directions on what roads are best for pulling a trailer. Our rv site was awesome as we were the only people staying here at the time. The sky was clear for amazing star gazing and this location is about an hour from New River Gorge National Park. T-Mobile home internet was “weak”, about 25 Mbps - but enough to stream a tv show. Verizon cell was about 2 bars and T-Mobile cell was 1 bar. One thing to consider when staying here is the road in is very steep - about 14-16% grade, so if you have more trailer than truck, you may burn up your transmission/brakes. We would definitely stay here again!

Amazing spot John was very welcoming the entire time we felt at home. There’s 250 acres of nothing but stunning views. There’s a ton of stuff to do right there skeet shooting a cute little putting green there are five ponds perfect for fishing. The little touches aren’t to be missed either the cute on site shower house with laundry *chefs kiss the bird houses the cute I assume from family named roads and alleys even a 55 miles according an hours sign…. If you’re looking for a place to get away and forget the world this is the place!!!! 10 out of 10 recommend

We had a great time on Aprils property. We were secluded with Mountain View's in every direction, it was breathtaking. Very quiet and well maintained spot. April and her husband were some of the kindest people we've met. They ley my kids feed the chickens and sheep and their dogs were the best, the kids played with them a lot. Would DEF stay here again.

We had a great 3 night stay . Steep driveway looked daunting, but it was nicely graveled, and my 2 wheel drive van had no problems getting up or down. Provided porta potty was nice and clean . Bundles of firewood are available for sale on site that we took advantage of . Site was large and private . Multiple spots to set up tents or hammocks by the beautiful creek. The dog had a great time … was nice to be able to let her run around off leash . Great location with easy access to the bridge and the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. Nice general store is just a short dive away that serves great food . We visited two breweries in the area … Free Folk Brewery and Bridge Works Brewery … recommend them both . Nicely wooded and shady while the leaves are on the trees. Tons of rhododendron trees … must be beautiful when they are in bloom . Would definitely stay here again in the future … highly recommended.

WT Farm is an absolutely beautiful place! After spending a week there, I cannot believe there isn't a mile long waiting list to visit. The abundance and variety of crops Bill grows is simply astonishing and I was able to spend a time with him picking pawpaws and seeing where he makes his cider. And I was lucky enough to bring away some of his farmer's market goods that he had on hand. The campsite was above and beyond what I was expecting and I will definitely return since I didn't want to leave. If farm to table, complete serenity, or stunning night skies are your thing, this might be the place for you.

We absolutely loved this campsite. It was very secluded and beautiful. There is a little bit of road noise but it's really not that bad. With all that this area has to offer the road noise is worth it. It is right next to a creek and if the water had been flowing it would have been even better. We are definitely planning I'm going back in the spring. There are rhododendrum trees all around at the campsite, I'm told that they will bloom beautifully, I cannot wait to see them. Our host was always responsive and keeps the site very nice! Having the firewood already there and the portapotty was a real bonus. I cannot say enough nice things about this pla e. It is one of the best HipCamps I've ever been to. The location is perfect literally minutes from the area's hiking and whitewater rafting and so much more.

This location is a must see! Could not have chosen a more perfect place for my first tent camping experience in over 15 years. It was a beautiful spot and the pictures don’t begin to compare to the real thing. The grounds are perfectly maintained and the bathhouse was spotless clean. It’s got a charm and nostalgic feel that would be hard to find elsewhere. Mark was a great host and a pleasure to chat with. I’m not an experienced camper but can say with confidence that this place has set the bar high and will be hard to top.
