Our inspiration for Back Forty RV Park comes from our Dad, JT Lindsey. J.T. and wife Lucille bought these 40 acres of land in 1972, moved their family into the farm house desperately needing attention, and raised their three children here. JT worked his entire life in agriculture as a farmer and cattle rancher. He was smart, hard working, and very mechanically inclined-he could fix anything! He was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, Nascar, and a good cup of coffee, but he loved his family the most. Summer vacation was RVing in Colorado, New Mexico, Tennessee, Alabama, South Dakota and Florida but only after harvest was done and the fields were plowed! Daddy was taken from us way too soon, but his love and affection for his family has remained with us through the years. His image appears in our signs and logos taken from our favorite photo. It’s our hope you feel like you are coming back home at Back Forty RV Park. Back Forty RV Park is a local owned park located in Quanah, Tx. Conveniently on US Hwy 287 between Amarillo and Dallas/Fort Worth. Our rural Texas location has wide open skies, amazing sunsets and beautiful sunrises. Nice spot to spend a night. The shower, restroom, and laundry were clean and the water was hot. You can hear the interstate traffic but it didn't bother us at all. We would stay again!

1 night at Sams Town

Sam is a wonderfully accommodating host. A few yellow jackets had slipped into where we were originally going to stay and kept landing on me. As someone who is deadly allergic, I was not comfortable staying there. We contacted Sam and he was very apologetic, offering to reimburse us completely if we needed to find somewhere else to stay, or move us to a different cabin in his camp. We took him up on the latter option. Since where we were moving from cost more money than where we ended up (the Writers Cabin), he reimbursed us the difference in cost. He got the cabin ready for us, and lit us a fire in the fire pit outside the cabin that we enjoyed relaxing by.

Very secluded private location on Lana‘s ranch. Visit with the horses and cows as they meander up to your campsite while you camp in their pasture for the night. Very quiet and dark, great for sleeping! However, if you have a dog, be aware, the ground is full of little tiny thorny burrs that get stuck in their paws, and the bottom of your shoes! Other than that a wonderful place to stay if you’d like to be off the beaten path.

Easy to find and pull into. Nice laundry facility. Beside historic Route 66. Also beside the interstate, so if that kind of noise disrupts your sleep, this may not be the best place for you. It didn't bother me. Cute decorations for the autumn season and a huge community fireplace with wood was a nice touch.

Burl met us promptly when we arrived and graciously offered us any site we wanted. We chose a site next to the bathhouse because it was a bit further from the road. All the sites have full hookups and are mostly level. Burl and his family live on this working farm with horses, goats, chickens, and probably a lot more that we didn’t see. The bathhouse has a laundry room and one shower/bathroom that were cool and clean. We enjoyed watching them work with the horses after dinner and sitting in the rocking chairs in the shade. I recommend Deepcreek Ranch and would certainly stay there again. We couldn’t resist buying a few dozen farm fresh eggs for our journey.

We stayed in the barn and it was a great break from camping. However the campsites were quaint and nicely situated on the property as well. Easy stop off the I 40 with groceries, fast food and gas nearby. I may have missed “cash only” in the write up but it is cash only on site if you are looking to pick up goods from their store. Would stay again if driving thru.

The directions were clear. We met Sam in the morning at Main St Cafe. He was great! The place is very special. Sam has a vision and it’s unfolding. Be nice if the dust and cobwebs were wiped off the surfaces you want to put your things on but it is a lovely vibe. We stayed in the Homestead Cabin. The smell of earth and wood was wonderful and impressive to see his creativity.

I was going to tent camp in under a grove of Elms and in fact had a great yoga session under their protection but approaching storms changed my sleeping arrangements to the car. Had a front row seat to lots of lightening and wind but no rain. My host graciously guided me in to the camp via messages and talked me through some road detours.

Weekend Trip to Sams Town

This was truly a unique stay and I recommend it, especially if you like to get to know the local vibe. Sam is a great host and will do his best to accommodate you if you should happen to need anything. The basics are all there though, and while it’s certainly not a 5-star hotel, it’s *definitely* an upgrade from tent camping! Sam is a real character, a visionary artist with a wealth of knowledge about the town of Erick’s history, as well as where to find good fishing holes! Highly recommend!

Amazing place to spend time at! Lana’s land will not disappoint you at all. Beautiful property, weather and sunsets. The coyotes howling in the distance was awesome to hear and fall asleep too. If your close to the Ranch and need a place to stay, this is a great spot!

Really nice stop over in Oklahoma. Burl and his crew were so kind and welcoming, letting me and my dogs explore the ranch and stretch our legs after a long car day. The shower was lovely. Would definitely stop here again!
