Camp Grassland: Two of our prepped campsites are on a flattened area of the hillside field with access to a fire pit, log bench, and porta-potty. This location is in direct sun with beautiful views and easy access from the road. Parking at the top of the field is recommended unless you have a 4WD vehicle. Cabin Breazy: Situated at one of the highest points on the property, Cabin Breazy is our cozy, off-grid, dry A-frame cabin surrounded by mountain views. Farmhouse Holler: 2nd Campsite is located next to our old farmhouse on a lower section of the property. Its near the natural spring and is shaded. There are no convenient bathroom facilities at this location so it is recommended to bring your own. Reaching the porta-potty would require an extensive uphill hike or driving around to the other entrance. To reach this campsite, the driveway could be considered rough terrain so drive slowly. Lowered vehicles or those with little ground clearance are not recommended. Each campsite has a max occupancy of 2 people. If you need space for more campers, please reach out to us about how many are in your party. We can host groups with advanced notification. Overlanding vehicles are welcome. Attractions: If you are looking for birds-eye view of the area, visit the Mendota Fire Tower only 3.2 mile away. You can see it from the farm and see the farm from it. It's about a 15 minute hike from the road. You can choose the mildly challenging way up or take the old roadway for a smoother walk. Clinch River is only 20 minutes away. When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling. Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood. You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7. Note: Since we opened in October, 2014, guest reviews consistently tell us us best thing about staying at Good Egg is being off the grid and the treadmill of modern life, unplugging from the dominant culture and experiencing oneself as humans did 100 years ago and more. Whether it’s the absence of electricity (in the cabin), the quiet of the country, no city glow in the night sky, or the once common experience of the natural world dominating over human-made or human-crafted things, it’s astonishing for many of us to see and feel and experience without constant communications via text and email and the distractions of modern life. Weekend Trip to Shoestring Creek Campground

We had quite an adventure staying at Rhonda‘s Hipcamp. Rhonda and her Mom are such lovely people! When we first arrived to our cabin, it appeared a mouse had gone in and made a little mess; which happens! That being said, they were very accommodating in giving us new blankets and offering to move us somewhere else. We chose to stay where we were and just cleaned up a bit. This site is incredibly private and exactly what we were hoping for. Though it was pouring rain most of our stay, we had one nice night and got to use the fire pit set up outside which was really gorgeous. There was also a lot of private road to get your steps in. We had to leave a day early due to my puppy not feeling so well and we were offered to come back for a free night if we were ever coming back around. I cannot say enough nice things about Rhonda and her Mom who is currently running the shop. Would definitely recommend staying at one of their many sites if you get the chance!

On a recent trip, we were blown away by this place. The mountain views were absolutely extraordinary, the bathrooms were impeccably clean, and the kitchen and gathering areas were fully stocked with everything we needed. The cabin had a comfortable bed and seating area. The attention to detail truly made the experience feel special. 10/10 recommend!

I stayed in the artists cabin and was just in for a quick night’s stay. The place is so quaint and comfortable with a truly beautiful view of the pond via the deck. So much wildlife from this spot! I will definitely look to book this spot on my way thru Unicoi next time.

First I would highly recommend. The Pat and her son were most gracious. They provided a great tour of their place. Pat was baking goods for farmers market and Robin showed his blacksmith operation. The gallery where we stayed stood out with his handi work. I do plan on returning with my mini camper. I have stayed in various hipcamp sites, this one is tops. I really enjoyed the history of this farm place. The goats, buffalo and peacocks were an added feature. Wish I cold have stayed longer.

Wildflowers are the best decorative flair.

Such a wonderful place to stay while enjoying a small slice of the AT. The kitchen has everything one needs to prep meals and two fridge/freezers. The bath house was much appreciated. Everyone we met was so friendly. It was lovely to wake up to see the trees and mountains. Loved the trails on the property, especially the lookout point. If I’m ever back in this area, this is where I’ll stay.

The description really can't do this place justice; you just have to enjoy it for yourself. The view obviously is unbelievable and is the star of the show. But Cabin Breezy is wonderful on it's own. You can tell Jessica put so much love and attention to detail in every inch of the mini but mighty A frame. We also weren't expecting to have an actual bathroom and shower to use (not just port-a-potties). So that was a major perk. My fiancé, our dog, and I came up for a little 2 night getaway for my birthday. Work has been WAY more stressful than usual lately for both of us. Staying on this land was cathartic in so many ways and we return home feeling completely renewed. Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with the rest of us! It was a very enjoyable experience in this rustic cabin. I was traveling with my dog and we had plenty of space for the both of us. At night you could hear the local creek and in the morning I hiked around the property. There was snow the first night but we were able to get wood for the stove and were very comfortable. Would recommend and will stay again when passing through.

The Artist Studio was the perfect spot to stay on a solo road trip from Eastern Virginia to Nashville. The property was stunning and the studio was clean & cozy. Outstanding location 10 min from downtown Johnson City. The host, Pat, left delicious baked goods in the fridge of the studio. My highlight of the stay was enjoying a fresh baked good & coffee in the sun room overlooking the pond. Highly recommend!

We loved staying at the sight. Enjoyed the privacy and the view, and the hot tub. This was in spite of Mother Nature giving us rain for 3 days. Kevin went out of his way to provide us with dry wood; we just couldn't use it. The facility was clean, great condition. It was high-end and we plan to return at another time. Thanks!

We really enjoyed our stay at Rhonda’s land! The spot was peaceful, surrounded by nature, and gave us a real sense of adventure. It’s a great place if you like being outdoors and don’t mind a bit of a rustic experience. Definitely recommend for campers who enjoy exploring and a touch of adventure — but if you prefer everything perfectly polished, this might not be your style.
