Tucked away on Sequatchie Mountain, this little campground and hostel invites you to experience some of East Tennessee's best parks for climbing and hiking. Cliffs and waterfalls are minutes away at near by Foster Falls, Denny Cove and Castle Rock. 

The hostel offers 3 bedrooms, fast internet, complete kitchen, comfortable beds, smart TV, fire pit, and laundry.

The campground offers dispersed sites with fire pits and picnic tables, as well as clean bathrooms and a communal barn with a microwave, fridge, games, tables and chairs.

You can walk our 22 acres and even take a short hike out to our bluff. Make sure to say "Hi" to our chickens and our barn cat, Strawberry, on the way. 
Add in the view of the stars and that makes this the perfect basecamp after a long day out.

Greeter Falls Campground is located less than a half mile from the Greeter Falls Trailhead, adjacent to the Sixteen Thousand Acre Savage Gulf State Park offering over Sixty miles of well-marked trails for every skill level. The Two mile Greeter Falls Trail loop connects you to three awe inspiring waterfalls as well as the nearby Blue Hole swimming area.  
We offer many recreational options to help you enjoy the area including Primitive Tent spots, Furnished Cabins and Yurts (Military Tents) and RV/Travel Trailer sites (each with electrical and water hook-ups).

The Ole Place

35 mostly wooded acres with a 3acre stocked pond (catch and release)for a small group or private getaway. Wildlife viewing, walking, atv riding. Within about 50 miles of Chattanooga, TN. river and other parks, mountains etc.nearby. Will have a couple of camper spots and  One cabin with electricity, one camper site with full hookups and one with electricity and water. Dump station,Outhouses onsite, and a shower.

The waterside views are perfect for sunrise, sunset, and anytime in between

We made breakfast using the ample cookware provided (plus plates, mugs, forks, etc provided!). The outside picnic table was the perfect place to enjoy our meals.

So many appliances included! Plus lots of pots and pans, spatulas, etc.

Come by way of Nashville or from Chattanooga – we’re halfway between, in the middle of the Secret Smokies, our name for a sequestered wonderland of waterfalls and caves, fantastic formations and bountiful wildlife. Enjoy swimming, splashing, fishing and lawn games, and campfires made for campfire songs.

As many ways to stay as there are to play! From cabins to tepees and safari tents, plus campsites for your RV, trailer, or tent – if it’s camping and you want to try it, it’s here. The accommodations are ample, and we’re very strategic in locating the conveniences, close and easy to get to, whether you’re driving your home, pulling it or pitching it. All RV sites are pull-throughs with water, electric and sewer and 20/30/50-amp electric service options. Lodging options include: camping cabins, deluxe cabins, treehouse, teepee, glamping, covered wagon, patios. Please note that not all accommodations are pet friendly. Cabin and Barn on 20 Peaceful Acres

It's like having your own private summer camp!

The unfurnished cabin is dry and clean.  A huge upgrade from a tent (feel free to pitch your tents if you like)!

The bathhouse offers hot showers, a flush toilet, and sink.

The open pole barn has a deluxe camping kitchen set up with pots and pans, a propane stove, a coffee maker, and a dishwashing sink.  There is also a dining table and chairs.

While the property is close and convenient to Chattanooga, once you are enjoying the serene woods, shady trees, starry nights, and quality time with family and friends you will forget all about the city!

While there are no full-time residents on the property, there is a small functioning horse farm about 100 yards from the camping area. On most days the owner will stop by to care for the horses, and teach riding lessons.

Running Water Creek

Running Water Creek is a unique, fully off grid campground just 20 minutes to downtown Chattanooga.  We have 80+ campsites spread out over 120 acres.  Most of the roads are accessible in any small car, but some roads require 4x4 (they're marked with a sign).  We have a bath house with toilets, showers, and sinks and even offer hot water!  Our well and cabins are all solar-powered as we are not on the electric grid.

Some info about the property:

-we DO NOT have water or power hookups

-we have gravel roads with a 5 MPH speed limit on the property (if you drive too fast the roads will seem rough)

-we are right next to a highway and train tracks so there will be some noise (some days are better than others and we have no way of predicting how many trains will/will not go by)

-none of our campsites have picnic tables (please plan accordingly)

-most campsites have fire rings built, but if you choose a site without one you need to build your own

We were easily able to park our campervan and trailer here!

Tranquil Winds Getaway

The site sits on 1.7 acres and includes two (2) bunkhouses, a firepit/playground, a recreation/event center with a bathhouse, two (2) RV hookups suitable for small RVs or pop-ups, and an area for tent setup.

Another area of the property features a fishing pond, scenic views, and additional tent sites. Beyond, there are more than 20 acres of raw land with three separate hiking trails and hidden treasures, such as the Old Stone Road, the Rock, and plenty of space to explore. Overall,  there is approximately 30 acres available space for gatherings and enjoyment.

Rock Creek Wooded Campground

Faye's place is located on Rock Creek Road, ten minutes from the amenities of Tullahoma, Tn. The area is agricultural, but maintains a majority of natural beauty. Our property is 90 acres, consisting of fields, hardwood forests, and Rock Creek. The campsite is next to small waterfalls that flow past soft grassy banks, under the shade of oak trees. The creek is wide and shallow and the waterfalls create a tranquil ambiance. We have chickens (no roosters), cats (only 3), and an abundance of natural wildlife. Feel at home at our home, where rural hospitality is our standard.

The Rock Creek campground is located in a secluded wooden area by a flowing creek. The creek area is great for wading, exploring nature, and relaxing. The creek also includes small waterfalls.

The Bolo Club

Our grandparents moved to the farm on Little Crow Creek on September 27, 1927 from up in Sinking Cove. They had six children with our dad, Charlie Jr., being one of them.
Charlie Stubblefield Sr. was a very interesting man with a wide curiosity in just about anything that had to do with history, Indian artifacts, Civil War, fossils, oral history, religion and more.
Therefore, the small museum on the property next to the pavilion is dedicated to our grandfather.
Charlie Sr. and our grandmother served as Justices of the Peace for over 30 years. Further, our grandmother was the backbone of the family, and was a gracious lady with a special personality to handle the rigors of the day; we miss them both very much.
The area has many interesting stories and legacies of characters of yesterday and today.

45 private acres on our homestead for you to roam.  Eight eclectic sites to choose from ranging from primitive camping to a lovely log cabin.  All except the log cabin lovingly built by the owner, loaded with creative touches from up-purposed materials.

Disclaimer: The flow of the waterfall is subject to fluctuations in temperature, seasonal droughts, & rain fall. The most favorable seasons for waterfall flow are fall, winter & early spring.

We came to this magical place to found a self-reliant, homesteading eco-community when I retired from corporate life in 2006. It's called the Village on Sewanee Creek, named for the creek 800 feet below the bluff where we are located.

I traveled the world as a senior executive for Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin' Donuts, Papa Johns, Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and other retail franchises, making the world safe for Pizza, Ice Cream, Pancakes Video Rentals and American convenience. And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one. 

I faced challenges and had lots of fun. Now I want to share our experience.

Forest at Sand Mountain



22 acres of Private, Magickal forest  spanning the bottom valley all the way to the top of Sand Mountain. The mountain has several natural terraces and flat areas suitable for campers to choose from including a nice spot overlooking a rock garden. As you ascend Sand Mountain, the vegetation thins revealing spectacular views of Lookout Mountain especially in the fall & winter months after the leaves have fallen. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs with a cave. It has a colorful collection of lichen growing in it and we have named it our 'Mandala cave'. The cave is great for meditation. Rejuvenating guided hikes to the cliffs & caves are available upon request. This is raw land & raw forest. If you enjoy bush craft, there is plenty of material for you to build a lean-to, tipi, or structure of choice. Trees range from poplar to multiple species of oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. You're welcome to bring fluffy as we've never seen any predators, but there is a slight chance there could be some around. A lost animal on the mountain could be near impossible to find. We have 2 male cats. Unfortunately, the Earth does what she wants and weather forecasts can't be relied upon. We've had sunny days that have been forecasted to rain and un-predicted downpours. It can be raining at the top or the bottom of the mountain but not at the campsites in the middle.

Maclellan Island- An Urban Oasis

YOU MUST PROVIDE WATERCRAFT OF SOME KIND TO GET TO MACLELLAN ISLAND!

Maclellan Island is a unique 18.8-acre wildlife sanctuary situated in the middle of the Tennessee River, in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. It is accessible by water only. The island is home to a great diversity of plants, animals, and birds. 

Campers can enjoy easy wildlife viewing in a true urban wilderness setting. Muskrats, geese, and kingfishers can be seen feeding at the water’s edge, while the forest is home to songbirds, turkeys, raccoons, owls, possums, foxes, and woodpeckers. It's a great place to quietly watch nesting osprey and great-blue heron as well as an important feeding area for migrating warblers.

IMPORTANT: Maclellan Island is accessible by boat ONLY. You will need to provide your own transportation to and from the island, either using your own boat or by renting a kayak/SUP from a local outfitter. We recommend renting kayaks from L2 Outdoors who launches from Coolidge Park.

Maclellan Island’s earliest inhabitants were Indigenous People whose island community was likely an extension or suburb of Citico, a nearby village. Farmed in the 1800’s and early 1900’s, the island was plowed for many years and largely free of the trees which shade it today. Floods have covered the island from time to time and drove away numerous early settlers including one early farmer, Abel Kesterson, who survived rising waters in 1867 only by holding onto the horns of his cow as they swam to safety. The island eventually passed through the hands of several prominent companies as well as a number of more rambunctious inhabitants. Finally in 1954 Maclellan Island was donated to the Chattanooga Audubon Society by Robert J. Maclellan for preservation as a wildlife refuge.

If you'll be arriving by a motorized boat, you will need to use a public boat ramp. The closest one is at the Tennessee River Park. Coolidge Park has a kayak/canoe/SUP launch and you can park cars in their parking lot overnight for a fee.

Camp Chet

Camp Chet was founded with the purpose to help people encounter God through outdoor experiences. It over 900 acres of private forested land on Whitwell Mountain, which is part of the Cumberland Plateau in Southeast Tennessee.
 

Take a hike on miles of trails comprised of forest paths, old wagon roads, or coal mining roads.
 If you find a chunk of coal on the ground feel free to take it home with you as a souvenir.
 If you are a history buff, you may be interested in discovering previous caretakers from the late 1800's and early 1900's in nearby cemeteries.

The camp ground is on top of a mountain, and you will have to go through a locked gate and drive over a mile and half on a bumpy gravel/dirt road. You will be most comfortable in a vehicle that is suitable for rugged terrain.

Day trips less than an hour away include the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Nickajack Lake and Bat Cave among many others.
