Area 51 Landing is located deep in the old growth forest of Appalachia Mountains on the tail end of Chestnut ridge along Jacobs Creek. This is an area of many documentaries of paranormal over the years. From the Kecksburg UFO incident in the 1960s to the countless Sasquatch sightings since, Chestnut Ridge has spawned many documentaries and research for the paranormal.
This our first year so there's a good bit of underbrush. feel free to bring a bow saw for your small fires and clear as much underneath would like. It's all appreciated to the greater good of nature.
This camp is not easily accessible and the flow of Jacob's Creek could keep you from accessing it. You must cross Jacob's Creek by foot to access your site. Once there, you'll be transformed back in time where primitive rules and absolute tranquility abounds. Area 51 Landing is totally surrounded by state game lands so feel free to wonder and immerse yourself into a clear mountain stream surrounded by wilderness.
Just a few kilometers upstream lies the remains of the first iron forge west of the Allegheny mountains. they made pumpkin balls there for the revolutionary war.
Panning for gold is a very real possibility so bring your gold panning equipment and get ready for the action. There is definitely gold in them their hills.
Have fun, be safe and keep your eye out for Sasquatch and the Greys!

It was not uncommon to wake up to cows grazing nearby, and children from the campground often helped my father with hay baling and corn picking. Jeffrey's spot is incredible. Secluded, spacious, and peaceful, right on the river. The covered patio area is also really nice with picnic tables. I'm staying here while spending some time with nearby family, in my hand-built "tiny cabin on wheels."
Being originally from this area, I can tell you this is absolutely a rare hidden gem you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.
As a host, Jeffrey is extremely responsive, very chill and respectful, and has been very helpful.
My only heads up to other Hipcampers is that the train is right there, and travel into the site includes a very short stint across then next to the tracks. The train is loud - I'm used to it, I've been hearing that train most of my life - but if you're not used to trains it maybe a little loud at first.
But everything about the site is quite perfect, in my opinion. Even the train. :)

We loved staying at Myra's cabin. Comfy beds, clean, good shower, and responsive host. There is a spiral staircase that took us a bit to get used to, but we all did, kids included. Great location between Cleveland & DC.

Weekend Trip to Nanny’s Rustic Retreat
Donnie's property is truly an unexpected little slice of heaven. From the property and amenities, to the welcomed animal interruptions during our detailed tour at the courtesy of Donnie...this place is truly something special.
Although during our stay we were doing what some would classify as "glamping"; the amount of amenities and relaxing feeling they create makes it feel more like a country resort.
We will definitely be back!

Donnie was amazing, so accommodating, kind soul. The amenities were way better than I expected them to be. What an incredible value for the price. Wonderful privacy. Beautiful views. The hot tub was phenomenal. The bathrooms and showers are awesome. There's a refrigerator and microwave in the common space. Took my mom here for a getaway and we will definitely be coming back.

The site is great! Right on the Yough. There is a slope roof to set up your camp kitchen out of sun and potential rain. There is a stand alone bathroom with toilet and sink. Jeffrey was a good host and quick to answer questions. Only thing to know is it is very close to train line which is loud when they come by.

Nice and secluded. It is nice to be right next to the river, however the water is not really accessible unless you walk through some mud to get to it. Maybe I was just there when the river was extremely low. The trains are loud when they go by but it didn't bother me. I would stay here again if I was in the area.

We were looking for a dog-friendly cabin to meet family halfway between Cleveland and DC. Myra made everything easy. The cabin is easy to access, and the property is beautiful. There's a large hiking area behind the cabin. We enjoyed the very nice grill on the deck. Our 2-year-old loved his first campfire and s'more!
