Welcome to Lazy Acres Campground, a unique destination where the spirit of community and family tradition thrives amidst beautiful natural surroundings. Established by my parents, John and Hazel Truxal, who were dedicated dairy farmers, Lazy Acres has evolved from a simple leased parcel of land into a cherished campground that fosters connections among campers. In 1976, a milk customer of my father's sought to lease a small, unused section of our farmland for his camper. This initial request sparked a chain reaction, as word spread and soon the area was bustling with campers. Recognizing the growing demand, my father began clearing additional land, installing water, electric, and sewage facilities. Campers were encouraged to choose their spots, marking trees or stones to claim their place, which fostered a sense of ownership and camaraderie among our guests. Over the years, Lazy Acres has transformed into a vibrant community where friendships flourish. It was not uncommon to wake up to cows grazing nearby, and children from the campground often helped my father with hay baling and corn picking. This sense of togetherness created a warm, family-like atmosphere that continues to thrive today.
