People from all over would bring their prize horses to compete in a horse race for the name of the fastest horses around While others would bring picnic baskets to set back on the knoll in one of our fields to watch. This campsite is a pull thru road that has a sun and wind block overlooking local farm fields. Camp is two miles from freeway exit yet miles from any home other than the working homestead that was started in 1890 with huge barn built in 1906 next door. This is a great place to rest for the night or a week. - simple, safe, and private out of the way. From I-84 you will take exit 198 for Lorenzen/McClintock Rd. Turn onto Lorenzen. Drive one mile until you get to an intersection next to a grain bin. Turn left (west) and drive for almost one mile. As you near the two openings for the site, you will see the sun shelter directly on your left. You want to turn at the 2nd opening, by the sign that says IN. You can pull up right next to the shelter and set up your space however you like. That way, when you leave you will exit by the sign that says OUT and be headed back towards the interstate like you came. This is a dry camp with no water access or restrooms. This site is 12 miles west from the world-famous Pendleton Round-Up. 8 miles east of Echo Ridge Winery, Sno Road Winery, Echo historical museum, and Echo Golf Course. Simple dining can be found in Echo at H and P cafe and in nearby Stanfield at Broken Barrel Restaurant/Bar with great burgers.

Great experience we came in the last minute in the evening. It was starting to rain and the owners moved the porta-potty, which comes with a wash station closer to our site. In the evening and overnight, the train came through a few times that it was more nostalgic, then disruptive. We definitely stay here again!

This was an amazing property. Big area, lots of trees. Space for an RV, but not at all the locations, mainly just one but an RV can honestly park anywhere it wants, just might not have a picnic table readily available but the hosts will get you one. There's a cool outhouse and hand wash station. The best part is its only 30 minutes from John Day Fossil Painted Hills. There's a cool bar and pizza food truck about 3 miles away and the town of Spray has the basic necessities. The hosts let you use their water hose that's at the edge of their house property on the fence next to the road so you can top off your RV when you get there and refill canisters if you run out. Overall great site, low frills, primitive location.

Enjoy the company of Lora, the daytime guard dog, and sheep if you camp in the pasture!

Basic site but it was well kept and serene surroundings. Nothing to do so more a place to land for the evening . I suggest getting there before dark bc it might be difficult to find plus you'd miss the sunset which is wonderful. You can hear hwy 84 but it's background. The wind through the corn was what we heard most through the night

Absolutely amazing! Clean bathrooms, potable water, river walk and farm animals. Very peaceful and quiet. I didn't notice the occasion train and slept peacefully through the night. I loved site 13 as we had a view of the vineyard. Support the towns restaurants. Excellent service at both! We would definitely stay again when visiting the area. Hosts very responsive. I wish them great success in this quirky town.

Beautiful part of the state with wide open grass lands and interesting geological sites. The camp was quiet and comfortable. We had trees for shade and were an easy walk from the nicely maintained outhouse. A pump handwashing station was a nice touch. Plenty of camp site options with level ground for camper vans (or tents/RV's). Be prepared for lots of prickly bur buttercup, black medic, chickweed, and thistle.

The pasture was a lovely spot to camp! It had some nice amenities, and wonderful sunflowers in bloom near the pasture. I would definitely come back!

Weekend Trip to Echo River Farms

The host, Gina, was very responsive through the app. We arrived after dark and weren't sure where to go. Hunter walked out to meet us, explained where to drive, and cut through a pasture to meet us there and direct us where to park. We were the only ones there so I can't say what it would be like with multiple campers. The train was loud but only passed by once during the night. Some farm dogs in the area will bark here and there throughout the night, maybe at critters, and got my dogs growling and barking as well. But if you camp with dogs in areas where there are critters in the night, you're probably used to that. The porta potty was very clean but high off the ground. My mom used a log as a stepping stool to get into it. Overall this was a very nice place with friendly people and goats.

Weekend Trip to Haystack Ranch

As noted the site is a bit hard to find from the south but google maps does get you to the correct spot. Just look for the secluded picnic table. Our host was fantastic and offered us some fresh picked produce. This is a beautiful area and I will stop again.
