Logan county is also home of the Piatt and Mac-O-Chee Castles both located 20 minutes from camp. For those who desire to shoot small or large guns, there is a gun store/range located next door to us. Great way to relieve some stress. (Able to watch the total solar eclipse. April 8th 2024.) We offer two excluded primitive sites with fire rings, spaced for privacy. Both surrounded by trees and wildlife. We have two porta john toilets in a central location with a hand washing station. If weather permits all vehicles have access to both sites. Through several generations the property was passed between the original owners family members, then split up and sold into lots. When the Bitlers purchased the property in 1996, the main house was sold with 3 acres and the 2 stall barn. Learn more about this land: If you are here in the spring through fall, you can expect a "sea of green". We are surrounded by corn, soybeans or some other mid-west crop. It's quiet out here, so enjoy the sunshine. We put out a large garden each year and we'd love your help. Right now, we can only offer primitive camping. Our electric is not operational. If there has been a lot of rain (April and part of May), then the ground is too soft for camping. However, if you just need a spot we have some gravel driveways where you can set up. There are lots of places to visit while you are here. Two large lakes with free public access are about 40 miles away - Lake Loramie and Grand Lake St. Marys. Lake Loramie has a public beach, bicycle rentals, canoes and kayaks. There is a great restaurant across from the State Park.

Weekend Trip to The Hillside Hideout

The property was very well-maintained and very private. I would definitely go back. The wood they gave us for $15 was wet, but overall, it was a good experience.
