The grounds were very clean and well kept!!! The facilities are very nice and clean. Great spot to camp. Camping in the fall, made for a very beautiful scene. The host are very nice and helpful.

What a killer spot. Lizzies RV Retreat is peaceful, remote, and just about perfect. The dark skies are unreal for stargazing, and the camping area has everything you could want. Fire pit, composting toilet, elevated deck for tent campers, cooking tools, and even a 50 amp hookup for those of us who like a little juice in the trailer.
The property backs right up to Wayne National Forest with trails leading straight out from camp. There are vernal pools to check out and plenty of wildlife. Coyotes howling, owls hooting, and total quiet otherwise. You’re only about 15 minutes from Marietta too, where you can grab a drink and some great food at Black Diamond Distillery or hit up the local shops downtown.
Jay was an awesome host. Super friendly, stopped by to chat, shared some cool history about the land, and showed us his on site camper that he remodeled from top to bottom. It looks fantastic and is available to rent.
Jay rides too, so for the motorcyclists out there, this spot is perfect for motorcycle camping. Routes like 26 and 800 are nearby and make for some great rides.
Highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back.

John’s land is well kept. He and his wife are great hosts. The restroom and showers were very clean. It was wonderful having them available to use. The nights were peaceful. The night sky was beautiful. We’ll definitely be back here.

Really great little site. Lots of fun touches that we don’t see often at Hipcamp spots- a nice campfire spot, a picnic table, paw paws (yum!), privacy… and the toilet!! So clean and didn’t smell like anything but the wood the outhouse was built with. That was amazing, honestly. We used a long extension cord and plugged our camper in at the back part of the site, off the road. Worked beautifully. Plenty of sun for our solar panels for boondocking, if we had brought them. Will definitely star this spot!

John and Julie’s property was perfect for our group camping trip. It’s everything other reviewers have mentione; quiet, private, and the amenities offered makes it easy to feel comfortable wherever you fall on the rustic scale. They were also so kind and quick to reply with any questions. Everyone agreed we found the right spot for our annual family camping trip!

The owners were very nice and interesting to talk to. The site was well maintained and had plenty of privacy, you felt quite far from the other campsite. A porta-potty was provided which was nice. Plenty of animals to watch and be entertained by! If you need perfect quote to sleep I’d recommend taking ear plugs as the animals can be a little loud in the early morning, but that’s expected for camping on a farm!

It became a tradition to come too John and Julie at their site with friends! We love the commodity of the gazebo, the shade, the showers and the kitchen with all the convenience. It is always beautifully maintained and we always have such a great time. We rented the 3 sites and come with a group of friend. We had a great time and plan to come back before the winter!

Beautiful location and grounds. Three well dispersed campsites with picnic tables and fire rings. There’s a pavilion with flush toilets, showers, a refrigerator and a large covered concrete area. They also built a stage area where they plan on doing more concerts.
John and Julie were great hosts. We were there for three nights. John greeted us to show us the lay of the land and then stopped by the next day to make sure we had everything we needed. Julie gifted us some of her beautiful natural handmade soaps. We really enjoyed our stay.

We absolutely love this spot. The sweet eats hosts with the sweetest animals. We felt safe and really enjoyed our opportunity to see farm animals and nature. It’s a very simple spot, we had plenty of space to set up a tent have privacy, port-a-pot to potty. Our favorite part was having Ann and Steve show us their animals. I hope to come stay again!

This location was awesome! Quiet and beautiful, with trails that connect to the nearby forest, and no cell service! Perfect for disconnecting for a few days.
Marietta, Ohio is just a few minutes away with shopping, dining, fishing, kayaking - so much to do and see there.
J.R.'s property is huge, with lots of hiking opportunities.
The fire pit has a bench seat that was perfect for cozying up when we got back to camp. Also, it was nice to have the composting toilet - it kept us from having to find a dump station on our way home to empty the RV tanks.
We saw deer, turkey, owls, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and SO MANY FIREFLIES!! The meadows matched the evening sky - it was awesome.
J.R.'s father met us as we arrived and, let me tell you, that man is a gem! Through our conversation, we realized that he (at one time) not only worked in my hometown, but in Shannon's hometown, too! It's a small world.
The amenities were just as described in the listing, with a steady power supply, picnic table, BBQ grill, fire pit, composting toilet, and a nice platform for tent camping.
J.R. even gave us great recommendations for day trips (I even caught some fish!).
Overall, a great escape from the rat race. We'll be back!

We had such a great time up here! John and Julie were so welcoming and kind! The area was in a beautiful field tucked away on a hilltop. The area was very private, and each campsite was spread out, if each were full it would still feel private. The land was very well maintained, and so were the bathrooms! It was so nice to have the luxury of a private bathroom and shower while camping, especially on a hot day. The trail and walkways around the fields were fun to explore and full of butterflies and birds! It was also close to town too, so it was easy to head in to visit some of my Athens favorites :) I’d absolutely recommend staying here, and will be back! I think this would be a really great spot to come back with a group of friends!

14 ft pop-up camper
A clean, safe, accessible campsite perfect for those with a pop up tent on a suv. (Bronco sport). Or regular tent. Very quiet and peaceful, great spot as a midway point or for exploring nearby Marietta OH. Couldn’t be more pleased. Having a SUV I think is preferable for navigating the roads.
The only down side is no internet or cell service so make sure to make arrangements and get everything done before hand. Literally a 7 min drive to a Walmart if you desperately need internet. I actually enjoyed knowing that I can’t be bothered. Overall 10/10 experience.
