Camping at Heritage Farms

 Heritage Farms, located in the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, is a 5th-generation, family-owned Christmas tree farm founded in 1848. 
Camping began ten years ago. We offer six shelters and nine primitive tent sites. We are incredibly close to the various trails located across the Cuyahoga Valley. 
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK!
1.WE DO NOT ALLOW FIREWOOD to be brought onto Heritage Farms property due to the potential risk to our crops and according to State and Federal Regulations. Firewood bundles may be purchased when making your reservations or upon arrival at the farm.
2. No vehicles may be driven into the camping area at any time.
3. All vehicles must remain in the designated parking lots 
4. Campers are responsible for carrying their gear to their campsites—we provide wheeled carts for your use.
 5. Ohio Primitive Camping licensing does not allow wheeled camping on Heritage Farms property. 
 6. Due to Summit County Health regulations, we cannot provide water. Please bring your own drinking and washing water. Or you may purchase 1-gallon jugs of water when you reserve your site or upon arrival. Our restrooms are porta Johns.
7. Tent sites (labeled A-J) have space for up to 3 tents. Shelter sites (numbered 1-6) have room for up to 2 additional tents. All sites are limited to a maximum of 6 campers  
 8. Heritage Farms is a working Farm. Please be aware that tractors and other machinery are in use during daylight hours
 9. Check-in time is from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you’re arriving after 7:00 p.m., please let us know. Checkout time is 10:00 a.m. Please use the dumpster for all trash. Gray water stations are available for the disposal of used water. 
10. Only campers registered to HipCamp are permitted to overnight on Heritage Farms property. We do not allow parties and underage or excessive use of alcohol at any time.  
11. DOG POLICY: We welcome dogs who have received prior permission from the farm owners.  A dog registration form including proof of rabies vaccination must be filled out upon arrival. Unvaccinated dogs are not permitted on the property. All dogs MUST always be on a leash and in the physical control of their owner(s). No pets may be left unattended at any time.

Camp Hiyo

Camp HiYo! can just plain spoil you on other kinds of travel stays. Tucked away in the tree-covered splendor of the Ohio countryside, just a short dogleg off the highway from Homerville, you can be both a million miles away – and less than an hour from Cleveland and Lake Erie – however you want to look at it. 

It’s a naturalist’s dream, Camp HiYo! is, and every kid’s ideal vacation. So, check out the Camp HiYo! Recreation page and come camp, glamp, hike, fish, and wagon ride with us to HiYo! times. Remember Camp HiYo! It’s the name you can’t say without singing it. Hi-YO! Go ahead. We all do it. We have 197 RV sites, 2 cabins, and 9 tent sites.

Activities for all ages! Featuring live music, karaoke, theme weekends, nature walks with our staff naturalist, bingo, Wii Sports, crafts, potluck dinners, catered dinners, hayrides – whew!

Heritage Lake Farm

Heritage Lake Farm features Heritage Lake, of course, a 2-acre spring-fed lake in the headwaters of&nbsp; Ohio's Grand River. Heritage Lake offers fishing, a swimming platform with&nbsp;a diving board, a diving board, a trapeze swing.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Park your RV, motorhome or self-contained trailer just off the driveway south of the Host's main cabin for&nbsp;water, electric and sewer on property.&nbsp;&nbsp;Tent Camping can be separately booked at FarmStay - Tent @HeritageLakeFarm and&nbsp;is allowed&nbsp;most anywhere on the farm as long as it will not interfere with seasonal agricultural operations.&nbsp;Two vintage sleeping cabins can be separately booked at FarmStay - Cabin1 or&nbsp;&nbsp;FarmStay -&nbsp;Cabin2 @HeritageLakeFarm.&nbsp;Heritage Lake Farm has abundant wildlife and&nbsp;offers excellent opportunities for hiking, birdwatching,&nbsp; and foraging.

Sawdust FarmCamp

Welcome to Sawdust FarmCamp! Located in Geneva, Ohio. We have four different sites to choose from: one tent site, two glamping tent sites, and one cabin.

New in 2026 propane heated hot water showers are now available for all guests located along the drive and a short hike from the sites.

Included with your stay a Nature Mindfulness Hike, where we find a deeper connection to nature and yourself is upon request. Contact host to schedule. 

Need some additional relaxation? Book a Reiki Healing at the Jug House next to the pond for an extra fee. Reiki is a Japanese stress reduction and relaxation technique that promotes healing. Contact your host for availability before booking the extra.

We also have the option to book all our sites for a 15-person retreat, with special extras only available for that booking, including a pavilion teepee tent. 

Portable toilets are available, pets are welcome, and campfires are permitted.

Naturalist  Isabelle H. Klein wrote a collection of letters from her home of Sawdust (named form the sawdust left by the loggers of the early 60’s) for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Explorer Magazine from the winter of 1969 to the summer of 1976.

They then were published as the book “Letters From  Sawdust” by the Press of Case Western Reserve University for the Museum.  It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in  Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden.

In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland  Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers.

The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated.

Hemlock Hideaway

*We have managed to keep our prices the same since our opening in 2019.  Sadly, Hipcamp has raised our fee from 10 to 15%, beginning September 1, 2025.  This increase will hit us hard and we have no choice but to increase our prices as well*

Hemlock Hideaway and its 18 acres was originally part of a larger 100-acre plot that was surveyed and settled in the late 1700's by Gideon Granger of the Connecticut Land Company.

Granger sold it to one Jehoikim Burget in 1815 for the whopping price of $400.

The resident house was built in 1816 by Burget and then passed down to family members over the next 5 generations, until we bought it in 2003, marking the first time the house and remaining property were ever officially sold.

In the mid 1800's, a grist mill was put up across the river from the cabin, and our creek was the main road in and out of that operation.

Native American and therefore couldn't be buried in the local white cemetery.

We also own the original hand-written deed from 1815 detailing the sale of the original 100 acres to Jehoikim Burget.

Our primitive cabin nestled in the woods overlooking the Grand River is a nature-lover's paradise! Come canoe, fish, experience wine country, or unplug and just get away from it all. Please note: There is no running water or electricity at the site, but the cabin is generator-ready and there is an outhouse.&nbsp;

The cabin does have a wood burning stove for heat and simple cooking, however there is no running water or electricity.&nbsp; That being said, the building is wired and has plugs and outlets and is generator-ready.&nbsp; You provide your own generator and fuel.&nbsp; We provide sheets, pillows, flashlights, a fire ring with cooking grate, charcoal grill (you provide the charcoal), access to firewood, and an outhouse with toilet paper.&nbsp; Our 1/4 mile of Grand River frontage can be accessed right outside the cabin door via a quick hike down the steep hillside.&nbsp; If hiking isn't preferred, then a quick two-minute drive will take you to the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark - a favorite of local fishermen.&nbsp; Bigger groups with tents are welcome, but will need to bring all supplies beyond what we provide for two guests.

Heartland Homestead

Heartland Homestead is the perfect spot for you to enjoy away from home and in nature. With dreamy vibes and open skies, you can relax in our tent camping spots around Mother Oak or reserve a glamping cabin for a true unplugged experience - but make it comfy cozy. 

Depending on the time of year + season, you may see our goats, cows, pigs, chickens, or more! We may have pick-your-own tomatoes, pumpkins, + flowers as well

Glamping Cabins

We have two glamping cabins that include beds and lanterns so you get the feel of sleeping in nature but comfortably. Each cabin has a picnic table, fire pit, and charcoal grill. One cabin has a queen-size bed and the second has a full-size bed and a trundle bed with 2 twin-size mattresses. The cabins do not have electric or water. A porta-potty is located near the barn (a 5 minute walk) and a lug-able loo or portapotty will be available closer to the cabins depending on when you stay. 

We are happy to help get your gear back to the cabins with the farm cart and then it is an 8-minute walk along a hay pasture to the parking area. 

Tent Camping

Our tent camping spots are located under Mother Oak, a 100-year-old oak tree in the middle of our farm. With ample shade, a fire pit, and nearby portapotty, you can relax under the stars into the night. 

Hiking trails weave through the back of the property and you are welcome to explore those as well. 

Because we are a working homestead and farm, a few things are true:

-Sometimes there’s mud. We suggest boots for walking around the property and in the woods.

-Our farm animals are great - and may also bite. Please do not pet or chase them. We are happy to arrange opportunities to interact with the animals. Just ask!

-Not always, but at times, our neighbors will start farming early in the morning and you can hear their machinery. 

All of our sites have privacy but are not truly remote. We want you to enjoy yourselves but please be mindful that our house is on the property as well as our neighbors. Music needs to be turned down to a low level by 11 PM. 

We can accommodate pop-up campers, camper vans, etc near Mother Oak as well. Please message with any questions before reserving. Additional fees would apply. 

We can also accommodate larger tent camping groups depending on the day. Additional fees would apply. 

The homestead is located near 58 so you can hear cars during the day and night. The cabins are about a ½ mile from the road so the noise is greatly reduced. 

We regularly host modern homesteading workshops, full moon yoga, and sound baths at the farm. If you would like to inquire about booking one of these as an add-on to your stay, please message us!

Conveniently located 1 mile from Oberlin College, 6 minutes from the turnpike (I-80), and 35 minutes from Cleveland, Heartland Homestead is like stepping away from the hustle of everyday life and into nature. Rural enough to feel like you've gotten away from suburbia but close enough for DoorDash, last-minute store runs, + all the yummy restaurants in Oberlin, we hope you enjoy stepping into our modern homestead as much as we enjoy hosting you!

BB Hideaway

Welcome to our off grid camping experience, we currently feature 3 cabins and 1 primitive camping sites.  We are a stone throw away from Geneva on the lake-wine country and the best golf course in N.E. Ohio.   Starting in Spring we will be providing a series of you pick gardens and fruit trees, you need something go pick it!!  You will also enjoy a .75 mile towpath and a common area to enjoy new friends.   and experiences.  Come and join us for all of the day and night beauty our space provides. Future plans include showers, dog run area (fenced) more cabins and primitive spots, mini store.  Don’t be a stranger!!  (The sites say we have showers). we will be in near future .

Thornhill Bluff

This majestic property is home to white-tailed deer, gray squirrels, red fox, several species of woodpecker and owls at night. Red-tailed hawks roost in the treetops when they are not soaring over the trees.

It's just a 1 mile hike to some of the amazing Akron Metroparks Sand Run and Naturealm trails.

The camp area sits in a mature hardwood forest surrounded by ravines.  Access from street after a short hike.  A short walk from indoor bathroom, water and electric.
 
You have access to other Sandrun trails after you climb down a steep ravine from camp or drive to another part of the Metroparks or Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Camping in Wine Country

Purchased by my grandfather back in 1953 it has been a diverse fruit farm for many years.
 Currently we have almost 200 acres, a lot of it woods.
 We don't currently grow the crops that we did but we have planted some wine grapes in the last several years.
 As we also have a winery, The Winery at Spring Hill, we wanted to get some of our own grapes in the ground.
 We have several places for tent camping and we have a large parking lot at the winery for RV parking.

Right in the middle of Ohio's Wine Country!&nbsp; Enjoy an evening at our winery or take the day and explore the 30 wineries in the area.

In the spring of 2024, we built and opened a fenced in dog park called the "Barking Lot".  This is available for any of our guests at the winery or who are camping here.  We also have a small dog menu that includes our signature "Pupcuterie board".

Woods and fields surround the camping area.&nbsp; Close to the natural beauty of the Grand River (State Wild and Scenic River).  Just a few miles from Geneva State Park and Geneva-on-the-Lake.  Lots of activities: wine tasting, covered bridges, boating/canoeing/kayaking, fishing, swimming, biking, hiking, birding, nightlife, history, golfing, and lots of natural beauty.

Blueberry Farm Campsites

We have lived here since 2004, the blueberries have lived here for over 60 years. This site has more topography than most of the surrounding county.

Several sites available on an organic blueberry farm near Oberlin College and Lake Erie. Blueberries are ripe in July. Site #2 is down by the Chance Creek, about 1/2 mile from the driveway. Very peaceful down there - a walk-in site.&nbsp;&nbsp;Site #1&nbsp; is about 100 yards from the driveway, Site #1 also has access to a small shed.&nbsp; Both sites are woodsy and away from neighbors, roads and houses, however the interstate is not far. When the wind blows from the north you can barely hear it, but when a south wind blows and/or there is rain on the interstate, it can be pretty loud. We don't have a latrine. We have two  "luggable-loo's" if you need them, have liners, too.
