River Farm is a fantastic stop if you are cycling the Neuse River Trail and need an over night stay. We are a peaceful campsite located along the Greenway Trail 20 minutes from Downtown Raleigh and 10 minutes from Clayton. The farm offers private wooded meadows with direct access to the Greenway for walking and cycling. Campers can either rent a tent or bring their own, choosing between secluded spots, shaded areas, or open spaces. The campsite is accessible via a gravel farm track and is close to the Greenway, river, and main house for bathroom access.
Nearby attractions include the Bailey Sarah William Preserve with 447 acres and 16.6 miles of multi-use trails, Sandy Pines Preserve with 563 acres of trails and fishing (18 minutes away), and Robertson Mill Pond for trails and seasonal kayaking (17 minutes away). For water activities, Neuse Adventures Canoe and Kayak Rentals is just 12 minutes away.

The property is 1.5 miles from Knightdale/ 64 east highway, is very convenient for people headed east to coastal areas/ very private. no neighbors . Outside city limits. Property is 50% soybeans the rest is woods and cow pasture. Lots of open and shaded flat areas for tents ; small rv’s ..no amenities got to rough it . Plenty of water. Hiking down at creek is all shaded,lots of woods. The creek can be hiked with a small waterfall not far with all surrounding with woods the camp site u pick will be private with plenty of acreage.. no roads, no traffic, just an occasional raccoon or deer walking by

Weekend Trip to River Farm on the Neuse River Trail
We had such a wonderful camping experience at Neuse River Farm! We stayed at a tent site right beside the Neuse River Greenway bike trail, and it truly couldn’t have been a better location.
From the moment we arrived, James (Emma’s son) made us feel so welcome. He helped us find our site and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. On Friday night, he even put on a fire show for us—such a fun and memorable touch! He is genuinely one of the nicest people you’ll meet.
Our campsite itself was incredibly private and peaceful—exactly what we needed to relax and unwind. It truly felt like “just what the doctor ordered.”
We also loved being right on the trail. The first day, we biked to Clayton and stopped at Deep River Brewing, and the second day we rode to Knightdale and visited Oak City Brewing. Both rides were beautiful, and we enjoyed some great beer and delicious food trucks along the way.
Overall, this was a perfect getaway, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

There were multiple really nice spots to set up camp.. We were greeted by James who is one of the property owners. He gave us a tour, introduced us to their horse Dorian, and gave us our choice where to set up. There were fire rings, and plenty of wood to burn around. We really enjoyed our stay, and will be back very soon!

Great little camp spot. Came here in January. One side of the road has a beautiful field and great sunsets. It’s close to a lot of great surrounding areas, I highly recommend going into the old downtowns of Fuquay Varina, the Mason Lager Company Brewery was a fantastic place to visit and hang out. I hear their separate restaurant in the downtown is top notch as well. Owners were very nice and helpful.

Monte and Tracy (and Woody of course) are wonderful hosts and you don’t leave there without establishing a long term friendship! 50amp, water and sewer hookups were all new and worked perfectly. They held an evening fire down at the wood pile where all the guests are welcome and encouraged to come, have a beer, relax and tell stories! Great nature walks to see beaver dams or other critters of the beautiful surrounding woodlands. Our dog Cali loved the nature walks! We will definitely come back to visit our new friends again!

I found this camping option when looking for a place that had a shelter we could camp under. My daughter and I go camping every fall and the night we were supposed to go camping it was supposed to rain, a lot. And it did. I reached out to Emma to see if we could secure a cover to place our tent under and she had one available. The location was cool, as it's about 150 yards from the Neuse River Greenway. They also have horses, so my daughter was thrilled to pet them. We fished some in the river and caught one fish. James, Emma's son, I think, met us when we arrived and showed us to our site. He's great and seemed excited we were there. He was helpful in giving us the lay of the land.
Overall it was a great experience. The heavy rain on the tin roof of the cover kept us up most of the night but it was better than a wash out.
I think we'll camp here again, but we do like to experience new places, so it may be a couple of years. I do highly recommend trying it out if you're looking for a place. It was unique (in a good way) and a good change from somewhere like Falls Lake campground.

Emma was so accommodating at the last minute!! I accidentally drove a bit out of my way and thankfully she welcomed me in at 8pm with little notice. She wrote out detailed instructions for me to get into the camp.
Her son, James, was awesome and gave me a tour of their place. He even introduced me to the horses. The land was seriously so special, and something I won’t forget. I’m so grateful I got to stay here and experience it.
