The McKenzie Home Place has been in the same family since the late 1700ś with craftsmanship of the home dating it to 1820. The McKenzies played a big role in the building of Pinehurst with the Grist Mill Parties and even the famous little cabin aptly named The Womens Exchange in Pinehurst, NC being purchased from Author McKenzie who himself was raised in in this beautiful home. It it property that was once inhabited by our Native American Indian as many Indian Points have been pulled from the fields on the property. In its last days as a working farm it was a tobacco farm. There are remnants of the past life scattered around. Including The Green Barn; a 2 story tobacco barn where the tobacco was strung on tobacco sticks, hung on rafters to be cured and taken to market. Excellent spot away from the city but not to far out of the way. Right on the water side made for excellent mornings sitting around the fire enjoying coffee and enjoying the view. The host was exceptional with everything from first meet and great to departure. If you want a quite relaxing weekend away I would highly recommend this spot.

Peace and quiet place to relax and fish for shiners. Plenty of firewood if you have a chainsaw. Plenty of flat ground for 10x10 tent. Shaded by the lake and sunny by the field.

Nice little pond with some fish. Tossed my line in and caught something in 5 minutes. Great for little kids. Pond was glass in the morning, it felt like I was hours away in the middle of nowhere.

Great communication with host for directions and camping details. Exactly as described, however I would recommend only a truck, some of the paths are tight and overgrown so a SUV/Sedan might be difficult. Great simple, affordable, easy-going camping for the whole family. I wish I didn't forget the fishing poles!

We had a great weekend camping here. We were the only campers this weekend. Sean was a great host, very easy to communicate with. Site 1 was situated perfectly between the pond and end of the runway with enough room that we could pull our truck and trailer through. We had plenty of open space for our tents, cooking area, hammocks and seating around the campfire with larger trees keeping us shaded on all sides. We initially launched one of our kayaks right from our campsite and ended up keeping them all on the bank when not in use. We did catch 2 small fish on the right side of the pond and had lots of nibbles. The kids had lots of area to explore and chop firewood. We felt comfortable with our dog off-leash. The trail around the pond was well cleared, perfect for a quick walk. The frogs and toads provided lots of background music at night. Thankfully, there weren’t as many bugs as I thought but we had plenty of bug spray on hand anyway. The runway was a pretty cool feature that could be fun for playing fetch, hitting baseballs or golfballs. Really unique experience seeing Sean fly his Ultralight. Definitely a fun and memorable camping getaway!

The well maintained trails are perfect for exploring and an afternoon float on the lake was just what the doctor ordered! We are already planning our next visit with the kids!

The lake is beautiful and saw turtles, frogs and was a lovely walk around the entire lake. Unfortunately, I have dogs that scare easily and Scott’s dogs visit the camping area, so I did not stay. But the property was gorgeous and Scott was easy to communicate with and gave me fresh eggs when I arrived.

Site 5 was a nice secluded area where we could relax and enjoy the day. The lake had some good fishing spots and we enjoyed making a bonfire at our campsite. Would recommend to anyone who wants to leave the stress of the city for a few days

2 nights at Scott’s Lakeview Camp and Park

So we really enjoyed Scottview lake! We picked our campsite based on other reviews because there wasn’t a lot of pictures. We pulled up and the park owner met us out there and showed us where to go. Campsite 5 is in the woods and you either need a small vehicle to get in there or either hike your stuff down. If you like to be excluded from others, campsite five would be perfect for a small campsite. But the owner give us permission since no one else had scheduled to stay in any other lot that we wished. I would have to say that campsite for is by far the best site at Scott view Lake. It has its own little private fishing Cove and a nice fire pit and plenty of room. The area was extremely large and was really nice and the kids enjoyed catching fish. No water or electrical hook ups, but the owner allows folks to fill up water containers, which we done. This place is awesome and it will not be our last trip there that’s for sure. Plenty of sun for solar, charging, and plenty of shade for sun covering. If we stayed again, we would definitely stay in campsite four because I felt like it was the best campsite there. I hope this helps everyone in the future, but I definitely recommend this area and this place for camping for anybody looking for a private safe and quiet campsite.
