The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. Above, birds of prey ride the thermals of the valley looking for their next meal. “We have been blessed beyond measure with a small slice of God’s wonderful creation that we would love to share with you.”

4WD Recommended - dirt/gravel road and two creek crossings (through the creek bed) to get here. We have a whole beautiful valley with crystal clear spring-fed creeks, patches of rain forest and hillsides covered in grass-trees backing onto Wrattens State Forest. There's 1,375 acres of land - the boundaries of our property are the ridges of the mountains that encircle us, and many rare species abound here. This is a dog and horse friendly property but no pets allowed in the cabin. There is paralysis tick in this region - so we'd recommend treating any animal before you come and frequent checks while you're here. No mobile phone coverage at the cabin, but there is a hill you can drive (or walk) up on the property to get phone signal if needed and we have a landline phone in our house which can be used in emergencies.

Our camping ground is in Amamoor in the beautiful Mary Valley. It was once the local cricket pitch , so is a lovely flat spot to camp, with a mountain view to one side and our creek bordering the other 3 sides. It is within minutes drive from the Amamoor General store so supplies are never far away. It has easy access off Moorehouse Gully Rd and is fully fenced from the road. Upon discovering the Mary Valley, we found our farm and fell in love with the views, the mango plantation and the gorgeous nearby villages. Our property was once a pineapple farm and was part of a much larger property owned by the previous owners for over 60 years. The Mary Valley Rattler steam train is a great addition to the history of the area and stops at our local village of Amamoor. Amamoor has the village Green Cafe opened from Wednesday to Sunday and also is where the Rattler stops for refreshments on the weekends. On Saturday afternoon you can visit Dagun station down the road for a wine tasting and find fresh produce at the station market. With Kandanga village 10 minutes away, the Country Club and the Kandanga Hotel, a refreshing beer, a good meal and even a game of bowls is not far away. Cycle the rail trail , kyak the Mary River and check out the State Forest and all its trails, there is so much to explore. Cooran Brewery with live music Dingo Creek Winery a bit father on , and the coast only 50 minutes away, come and explore our wonderful part of the world. Harper Creek Road and Harper Creek Criss cross one another as you drive through the valley. The ridges either side of the road are largely timbered, whereas the valley floor is productive land. The large property is located towards the end of this no-through-road, almost at the end of the line. While the property has dual access from both Engle Rd at the top camp; Harper Creek Rd, we enter from the valley. Camping on the top block is also available for 4WD vehicles only and not suited to large caravans. Campers are required to be self-contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Campfires are welcome in the fire pits with firewood provided or BYO. The mid-1900’s cottage sits in an idyllic setting, framed by the trees. The cottage is not yet available for Farm stays but will be soon. The location, vegetation and topography provide the privacy, the fauna & birdlife (the Bellbirds) combine to provide the solitude. Harper Creek cuts through the front corner of the property where it is met by a minor creek that drains the high country. You want more … how about a total of 115 acres (46.42 ha). While it is predominantly well-treed, it does have some cleared camping opportunities. It is watered by the creeks and one dam. There’s a great camping site at the top of the block, with a fantastic view! The property is off Aherns Rd, close to the village of Conondale and mid-way between Maleny & Kenilworth. With good access to the freeway via either Maleny or Kenilworth.… a perfect bush camping spot in a perfect setting! Pets welcome, please ensure they are kept under control and picked up after.

🌿 Shanlyn Farm – Off-Grid Eco Retreat Welcome to Shanlyn Farm, an off-grid eco retreat set in the steep, rolling hills of Traveston in the Noosa Hinterland. More than a farmstay, Shanlyn is a sanctuary of peace, reflection, and soulful living — created in memory of Shane and lovingly tended by Lynne. The land itself is part of the experience. Tucked into the hillside, each space offers rainforest views, birdsong by day, and a canopy of stars at night. The terrain is natural and hilly, inviting slow walks and still moments. Shanlyn is fully off-grid, powered by solar and supplied with rainwater. Décor is simple and thoughtful, with much of the furniture repurposed or handmade, blending rustic charm with sustainable living. Animals roam freely here: horses graze in the paddocks, donkeys meander by with curiosity, cows move gently across the hills, chickens scratch at the earth, and peacocks bring flashes of colour as they pass. Their presence is part of Shanlyn’s spirit, and guests are welcome to enjoy their company with respect. Guests also share in the Satya Deck, a timber platform with a communal firepit overlooking the forest, and the Shane Spiral Labyrinth, a ceremonial path for meditation and reflection. These spaces are the heart of Shanlyn, inviting both solitude and connection. Accommodation at Shanlyn 🌙 Solace Dome – A spacious eco-dome with queen bed, rainwater bathroom, kitchenette, and a private deck overlooking the rainforest. 🚐 Little Soho – A restored 1968 vintage caravan with queen bed, dining nook, and retro charm, set in a quiet nook of the hillside. ☀️Solara Dome - A light-filled geodesic dome nestled amidst the tree tops, Solara Dome is a private sanctuary for rest, reflection and reconnection. 🔥 Satya Deck & Labyrinth – A shared space for meditation, tea, yoga, and evenings by the fire under starry skies. At Shanlyn, you are invited to Stay … Breathe, Remember, Reconnect.
