With the cold season upon us, the RV has built-in heating, and I've also added an electric heater to keep you warm during your stay. It has its own control panel and thermostat. When you're going to use the shower, I suggest turning on the water heater 25 minutes beforehand so you can enjoy a lovely shower. It's also important to know that when you use the toilet, only use toilet paper, as it's specially designed for this type of RV and won't cause blockages. This is also an ideal space to relax and work remotely, as it has an independent antenna to provide internet access to the entire unit and all the electronic equipment you need. On the day of arrival, you will receive another message to refresh your knowledge of how to use the campervan. Close to the beach and sand, the city offers activities nearby so you won't have to go far to enjoy them. Once a working small farm, this property is now our homestead. Our cabin, a converted shed, was once used by family. You’ll see multiple plots of organically grown vegetables, a large area for relaxing, playing croquet or cornhole, and a mowed path for a short walk. We are located on a main town road, so there may be some traffic noise at times. Expect a rooster to be your alarm clock and, on a clear night, plenty of stars. The cabin has a couch that opens into a small full-size bed, suitable for one tall person or two petite guests. It is equipped with rechargeable bistro lights, a rechargeable fan, and windows with screens and curtains. Books and games are also provided. There is enough space for an additional guest to sleep on the floor with a camping mat. I really enjoyed this very unique hipcamp experience. The 60s camper is really cool!! The bed was comfy and the camper was quaint and comfortable. I barbecued a couple of burgers using the barbecue that was on site. I enjoyed the outdoor shower. The bathroom inside the house was private and easy to access. The train station was nearby but overall, the night was quiet. Just an occasional airplane flying overhead since JFK is nearby. There's incredible NYC skyline views a short walk to the north. Beautiful Rockaway Beach & boardwalk is not far to the south, easy to walk to. The camper was everything I expected and hoped for. I love unique hipcamps / airbnbs. I would recommend this 60s camper if you enjoy camper beach life!! Rockaway Beach is really nice! Thanks for the unique stay. The host was easy to communicate with.

Weekend Trip to 60's Surf Camper

My partner and I had a great stay here. We had planned a last minute trip to New York City, and this was the perfect place to stay to head over to the beach in the morning or to hop on the conveniently-nearby transit to get into the city. I was open to adventure when booking here (i.e. my expectations allowed room for some reasonable quirks and weren’t anticipating luxury booking a camper in Queens), but my stay here went beyond my expectations. We appreciated the clean linens, towels, and fans provided. There was also enough shelf space within the cabinets to unpack and organize our belongings to really make our stay comfortable and the space easy to be in. The bathroom was close by inside the house and was clean with toilet paper and a hand towel provided. I knew the shower was outdoors and I’d need to arrive open to that experience, and I ended up enjoying my morning rinse under the grapevines. I find it interesting that there are a minority of reviews with complaints about their stay as this is listed exactly as what it is - a 1960s camper situated in Queens. My only expectation arriving was to have found myself in a safe and clean place to land after a busy day exploring, and that expectation was met and exceeded + the camper is so cute and well-maintained for it being from the 60s! Mike was also a very responsive host and provided clear instructions for checking in and out. I’d recommend this place again and again and would book another time in the future.

Weekend Trip to 60's Surf Camper

This is a super cool old school camper that a friend and I stayed in for a weekend of fun and sun in Rockaway. It’s perfectly located to access most of what the area has to offer and It’s probably the cheapest option you’ll find. It’s also a total vibe—you either like the idea of this or you don’t. You know which you are. That being said, it’s bare bones (which is a pro or a con depending on your preference), shower is outdoors which I enjoyed (but not for everyone) and the bathroom is in the house and downstairs, (which again, could be a turn off.) I highly recommend it to anyone who’s into that style of living. It has the basics, and while there are ways to make food there, I would recommend checking out the local food scene. It even rained an entire day we were there and no leaks! Overall, me and my buddy had a blast and I wouldn’t hesitate to rent this again. Probably not the best suited for young children or high-maintenance folks—but you know what you’re getting yourself into! If you do go, I highly recommend setting up the lawn chairs in front and cracking a beer. This setup is perfect for taking it easy and enjoying the moment.

This is a fun place to stay if you're looking for a unique Rockaway/NYC experience. It's close to the beach, right next to the subway and not a far walk to the NYC Ferry, which I loved being able to take. The camper is from the '60's but has been well kept up and the inside is very nice and clean. You feel like you have room to sit and hangout as well as sleep. Despite being close to the street it has curtains that gave it a private feel too. You could hear was some noise from the neighborhood but that's to be expected at the beach and in NYC :) The bathroom (in the house) and the shower were both nice as well. And there was water to drink in the camper which was really appreciated after a day at the beach. Mike was good at communicating and check-in/out was super easy.

We had such a nice stay at Mike's! We come out to Rockaway often so it was a nice change of pace to stay the night and wake up there. The camper is super cute, just the right amount of space. The vibe is so unique. Not so many true urban beach towns like Rockaway! We had a ridiculous dinner at Whit's End around the corner. It was a very good time. Thanks Mike!
