Our property is located near the tiny village of Glen Hazel, our unique area offers close proximity to many watersports and hiking opportunities.
Visitors can watch bald eagles and osprey as you enjoy kayaking, fishing and nature at this primitive campsite. We have just one site. Our campsite is very private and includes a fire ring, a picnic table a trash can and a swing. Parking is available right at the site. It's just a 2 minute walk to the northernmost kayak launch on the East Branch of the Clarion River. Here you will find a public porta potty for use during the summer only. Several small jack dams will make your kayak experience a delight. We have a private 1 acre pond just a stones throw from the campsite that visitors can enjoy. Fishing is permitted in the pond, no license needed. Fly fishermen will enjoy the thrill of catching native and stocked trout in the most beautiful section on the East Branch of the Clarion River (PA fishing license and trout stamp required).
Nearby is Bendigo State Park that offers free use of picnic areas and swimming in an immaculately kept pool. Just 1 1/2 miles away is the Dam Inn where you can stop for a beer or for a nice dinner on the deck. Adjacent to the campsite is State Gamelands #25. This enormous tract of public land is open to all for hiking, biking and fishing the pristine native trout streams, including Middle Fork, Crooked Creek and several others. Only a 3 mile drive will land you at the East Branch Lake, a seven mile long lake where you can put your boat in and fish, kayak or water ski to your hearts content.

This stand-alone secluded campsite sits in the woods above an extremely unique stretch of French Creek (2022 PA River of the Year!) Facing northwest over the valley, it offers stunning sunset views. The Union City Dam floods the valley during wet periods making a beautiful (though temporary) lakefront campsite before slowly draining away. 100s of acres of protected land create a wildlife haven. Centrally located between 2 small towns with many local attractions.
Union City Dam:
Situated on the high-side of the Union City Dam, a dry-bed flood control dam. During snowmelt or rainy spells, the dam fills and floods the entire valley. During dry spells, French Creek appears as any other creek. At full flood, it becomes a breathtaking lake front campsite. Unfortunately, these natural events only occur a few weeks out of the year and are fairly unpredictable, but provide a truly spectacular setting (compare the high-water vs low-water views in the photos).
Wildlife:
At the end of a dead-end dirt road, adjacent to 100's of acres of federal protected land, and within sight of a number of agriculture fields, there is an abundance of wildlife. For over 20 years, an active eagle’s nest has been located 1 mile north providing amazing opportunities to see either adult or juvenile eagles flying over French Creek hunting for fish. Deer can be seen early morning and late evening in the fields, and frequently crossing the valley. All types of waterfowl flock the reservoir lake when flooded. I've personally witnessed up to 1000 geese and 100’s of wild swans at once.
Local Attractions:
The small towns of Union City and Waterford have gas stations, grocery stores, great local dining options, and more. The Union City Dam, less than 1.5 miles down the road, provides walking, biking, scenic driving, and picnic opportunities. 40-min drive to Presque Isle State Park, one of the only free state parks left in the US. 15-min drive to Port Farms a farm-themed amusement park for the kids and Poverty Knob Brewery for the adults.
DISCLAIMER: There is an active gravel pit to the North of the campsite. During weekdays from about 7 AM-5 PM, you will likely hear and possibly see some activity from the gravel pit. Security cameras may be in use at the driveway entrance.

This was a wonderful property there was so much to do within a short distance wish we could have stayed a whole week. Hosts were very hospitable delivering firewood and giving us a shuttle so we could pick up our kayaks after a day of paddling they're also very knowledgeable of the area and we're able to point out a few things that we took advantage of being able to do that we would not have found if it wasn't for them

The host was outstanding, the spot was super cute and easy to camp at and it was a great experience.
The spot is right off the road, across the street from a stream and down the street from a dam where you can easily go hang out and/or fish without a lot of other people around.
There's a picnic table, swing, trash can and fire pit, as shown in the pics. The pond is right next to the campsite, yet somehow I did not get bothered by a single mosquito even though they eat me alive in my own backyard that does not have any kind of water nearby.
It was really convenient and just a super easy place to camp.
My only warning to other campers is not to park too far in beyond the fire pit- my dumb arse got a Jeep Gladiator stuck in the mud. Susan and her husband had to come tow me out, which they did with ease and they were really nice about it, even though I interrupted their entire Sunday. I can't recommend them enough. Thank you.

We loved our night on David’s land. The view was true to expectations and we experienced a lovely sunset while building a fire and making dinner. The site is very private and tranquil in the evening, and while the gravel pit excavators begin to work early during the week, their activity was a good distance away from our site and didn’t bother us at all.

We loved our stay at Streamside Eriegrove! Keith was a wonderful host—easy to communicate with, caring, and it’s clear he takes great pride in his property. The clean bathroom was such a bonus, and we loved the “bear shelter” for storing food and gear. There are plenty of flat tent spots, nice picnic tables, a great fire grate for cooking, and even hiking trails to explore. The creek was a blast for both people and dogs, and the whole property felt very private and peaceful. The string lights and the fun new lighted music trail made it feel extra special. We can’t wait to come back next year!

I liked this overall, the gravel pit is very active, but the views in the morning and evening more than made up for it in my opinion. The gravel pit road road can be a little ruff getting up, but for me it just added to the adventure. Make sure you bring a tarp or blind for your toilet area.

We came here to celebrate my boyfriend’s 30th birthday and had a few friend’s join us for a few days and it was a wonderful experience! This was our first time using Hipcamp so we weren’t sure what to expect but our experience tops any camping experience we’ve had previously! The weather was beautiful with it being warm and sunny during the day and nice and cool during the nights! It was so cozy and quiet! I loved listening to the sounds of the frogs in the pond near the site and hearing the rushing water in the near by river! It was really nice looking up at the stars at night too! I also loved how many butterflies there were flying around! Susan was a very responsive and attentive host, making sure we had everything we needed and I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a nice peaceful and quiet weekend camping trip!

This was the 2nd time we tent camped at Streamside, and we plan to do it again and again. This time there were 7 adults and 2 doggos. The land is beautiful, spacious and well maintained. Keith is a very responsive host. There isn't really a bad thing to say about a weekend at Streamside Eriegrove.

If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with no cell service and stunning scenery, this is the perfect spot! Our jobs can be so consuming, and this getaway was exactly what we needed to unwind, camp, and reconnect with the outdoors. This was our 3rd camping trip this year, and without a doubt, the best place we’ve stayed yet.
I didn’t check the mailbox right away (which had a tablecloth inside), so I made a last-minute trip to town to buy one—turns out, I didn’t need to! The guest book is such a great touch; reading everyone’s notes had us laughing and appreciating the simple joys of camping.
Morning coffee by the pond, with the sun shining and birds singing, was absolute perfection. We explored a bit but also spent plenty of time simply relaxing and napping—and it was wonderful.
Big shoutout to Susan, who had our fire already going and plenty of firewood waiting for us. Considering it poured the entire drive there, that was a huge help! We’re already planning our next trip back—can’t wait to return!

Where to go
Allegany State Park
On the north end of the reservoir, Allegany State Park offers 65,000 acres of rare, old growth forest, two lakes, and rugged terrain with plenty of trails for hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. Two developed areas—Quaker and Red House—offer more than 300 campsites, 350 cabins (142 winterized), and eight cottages. Amenities include swim beaches, playgrounds, playing fields, boat and bike rentals, and boat launches. Just west of the state park, in the Enchanted Mountains of New York, Onoville Marina Park offers nearly 100 seasonal and transient camping sites, some right along the shores of the reservoir.
Allegany Indian Reservation
The northwestern part of the reservoir is surrounded by the Allegany Reservation of the Seneca Nation of Indians, which also includes several towns, the city of Salamanca, and the Seneca-Allegany Casino. Campers can stay at the Highbanks Campground, across the reservoir from Allegany State Park’s Quaker Area. Options include tent sites and RV sites with water and 30-amp electric hookups, picnic tables, and fire pits, along with spacious cabins and chalets, and amenities that include a boat launch, pool, picnic areas, and playground.
Allegheny National Forest
A mecca for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, the forest features 10 developed campgrounds. Willow Bay, Dewdrop, Kiasutha, and Red Bridge are the closest to the reservoir, and together offer more than 400 tent sites, RV sites, and rustic cabins. Most sites include picnic tables and fire rings, while many RV sites offer hookups and a dump station. For the best views, book a waterfront site or stay at a boat-in campground, such as Hopewell, Pine Grove, or Hooks Brook. With more than 500,000 acres, there’s plenty of space for dispersed camping.
