Weekend Trip to Javali River Glamping

Excellent campsite to give you a wonderfully rural retreat in the hills, with fast and easy access to Albuquerque and all it offers.
Excellent full hook up facilities, flat gravel pad, looks towards the hosts home but far enough away for privacy. And the hosts were super nice and welcoming.
Huge pool / artificial lake you can swim in and beautiful Elks to wonder at. And you can purchase fresh meat from the very ranch on which they were reared.
This is what “Hipcamping” is all about and we would return again, and again, and it will be our go to place if and when we are back in the area.

This site is right on the river bank and is super peaceful. We did not have any problems with bugs. The site is set up with full hook ups as well as a little patio with a fireplace and seating. J & T met us upon arrival and were very friendly and informative about local things to do. Getting out was a little tricky (our tt is 27’) but not impossible. We’ll definitely be staying again!

We loved every minute of our experience there! From the time we arrived until the time we left we felt welcomed, relaxed and comfortable! When asking my kids what their favorite thing was they said “All of It” and for young kids that says a lot! We will be back!

This was exactly the getaway me and my pup were looking for! Beautiful views. Friendly hosts. Clean and maintained property. I had time to enjoy some kayaking and lounging. I will back to take advantage of the yoga yurt and outdoor shower. Highly recommended!

The camp spot is beautiful and has a great patio area to view the river and local wildlife. We saw blue heron and geese fly the river. The hosts are very friendly and the letter they provide gives a lot of local information. The site now has 30 Amp service and water. I don't believe it had that when we originally booked. Since there is only one spot you are guaranteed some privacy and quiet time. The site is almost absolutely perfect. Things to consider when booking this site. The site is right next to a river so there are bugs. Small nats and flys were prevalent at night swarming around lights. Our screens didn't stop the small nats. This is to be expected as you are near a river and not at Disney. Another is the road to the site has a few humps and dips in it, so if you have a weight distribution hitch you should probably disconnect the bars before going down that final stretch. Also, even though we have a relatively short trailer (19 feet) it took a little work to get out of the site. Nothing to stop us from booking again, but I am glad we have a relatively small trailer.

1 night at Javali River Glamping
We went up to Javalí very much focused on paddle boarding both at Abiquiu and doing a two hour river paddle. I actually just booked at this property because my friend had already booked a spot there and I had no expectations. Y'all. This is a really special property. We came in and we're immediately drawn to the lounges that were facing the gorgeous river view. When I tell you that we didn't move from there for at least an hour. Complete & total nervous system reset immediately. There are so many thoughtful amenities around the property, including a gazebo with mosquito screen for later in the evening with a gas fire pit also facing the river, an open use yoga yurt, gas barbecue, hammock, hammock swing, lawn games, the sweetest baby goats, huggable donkeys, and super fantastic vibes. The hosts are authentic, relatable, kind, open, helpful, communicative and truly lovely people. We will definitely be back. If you are considering this spot, just do it. You won't regret it.

I loved my stay in Bluebird! It was so cute with the best view. Saw a lot of cool birds and wildlife and enjoyed hanging with the goats and donkeys. The float was great and so are the hosts!

Susan was very responsive and gave great directions for getting there and setting up. We were greeted by 2 friendly Giant Schnauzers and then Dale came out and helped us park at the perfect angle and walk us through the hook ups. We read the reviews and were hoping Dale and Susan had elk meat they were willing to part with, and to our luck, they hadn't run out yet. Dale gave it to us for free. Just kidding. (I told Dale I was gonna say that in my review so I hope he laughs when he reads this... whatever the price I wont say, but I swear its the best meat I ever had IN MY LIFE. IF you are lucky enough to get there when they have some... buy as much as you can!!! WORTH IT!). My children were enamored by their self built pool and all the strategically placed giant rocks. The loved how each rock is numbered so they will know right where it came from if someone moves it. (Kidding again... or am I?) Dale and Susan played along with us to help our kids be mindful and respectful of their beautiful property. Including our little story to help them not get the urge to tamper with rocks and equipment and pets. I love how loving and caring they are with their Elk. I love that they all have names and each one has a personality. Susan and Dale are so personable and friendly that we want to stay friends forever. Haha. They have great stories and wonderful ideas. The water pressure drops a bit about 12am/1am. Make sure you are showered and shaved before that window.

3 nights at Javali River Glamping
We stayed in the Blue Bird. It was cozy, clean and had everything we needed. Robin our host was super responsive whenever I had questions. The privacy and the view were great. We loved the property. It was both beautiful and peaceful. There are lots of birds to see. They had some friendly dogs. There were fantastic views of the stars at night. We would 100% stay there again. I stayed with a friend. She stayed in the bed and I slept on the couch and it worked out perfectly for us.

Amazing grounds, Plenty of room. It was just me and my dog and three other people sharing another RV. I had the Bluebird. One stayed for one night because of the smoke from fires coming from Arizona and Colorado. My little puppy just couldn’t catch his breath. Other than the smoke. I wish I could’ve stayed longer. The hosts were friendly and accommodating.

Can't say enough good things about this campsite! Robin was an incredibly kind and gracious host. The glamping area itself was so beautiful (especially right along the river), and the animals were such a joy to spend time with. The Magpie trailer was very clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. Looking forward to my next stay at Javali!

Susan and Dale are exceptional hosts. We had a blast at their camp spot. The kids loved feeding the elk, hanging out with the dogs and riding on the tractor. The view is beautiful and there’s an amazing diving platform. Thanks for making us so welcome and showing us around!

Everything was PERFECT. From the river to the animals to the attention to play, freedom, relaxation and peaceful setting. This place has it ALL!
Payment and reservation was stupid easy to set up. Everything was provided. Aaaaand there was shade, water, FIREFLIES and baby GOATS. Best money my tired city butt has spent in forever.

Viento Del Rio River Campsite in Abiquiu is a true gem! We absolutely loved our stay with our 25’ Airstream. Their single RV campsite is private, spacious, and wonderfully tranquil, with full hookups (water, 30 amp electric, sewer) right on the river. Our dogs had a fantastic time and we appreciated being able to have them off-leash while keeping a close eye on them. It's incredibly quiet and peaceful, making it perfect for relaxing, and also a great base for fun day trips. Highly recommend!

We loved this campsite seriously, it was magical. From the moment we got there, it just felt special. We saw fireflies at night (like, actual glowing fireflies!), a beaver down by the water, hummingbirds buzzing around, geese flying overhead, and even elk tracks by the river. The spot is super shaded and peaceful, and having direct riverfront access was an amazing. We hopped on tubes and floated down the river and it totally relaxing and so much fun.
Our hosts? Incredible. Super friendly, warm, and welcoming! Thy even gave us a personalized letter and were really quick to respond to anything we needed. The whole property is gated and secure, which made us feel really safe the whole time.
Honestly, between the wildlife, the peaceful setting, and how well we were taken care of, this place just hit all the right notes. We’ll definitely be coming back!
