The property is in the agricultural village of El Guique just north of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, where indigenous settlements have existed for many centuries due to rich soil, proximity to the Rio Grande and Chama rivers. While we are in a rural area, you will be 10 min north of the town of Espanola and 5 min from the Ohkay Owingeh rest stop (with a great El Parasol Norte takeaway restaurant- don't miss their tacos!). It's easy to run to Espanola's Wal-Mart, Lowes or other stores if you forgot anything or need to purchase supplies. In terms of the campsite, our 5 acre property is a narrow agricultural strip that extends from the irrigation acequia (ditch) at the top of the dirt road down into a dense bosque (forest), ending in a path to the Rio Grande. The campsite is in the bosque (forest) a little distance from our house in the privacy of the cottonwoods and elms. At this time we do not have other campsites sharing the space so you will be camping by yourself and have the bathroom to yourself. It is a short walk from the camp to the Rio Grande where you'll find stairs to the river. The river is wade-able in the late summer but in winter/spring the currents are strong and not advisable for young children or non-swimmers. You and your family are welcome to walk back to our farm to interact with goats, chickens, and our friendly dogs, use the playground, or swing on the large swing by the pond. This property is at its best Summer through mid Fall when all is green, the pond is full and river is calmer. Winter camping is still doable but may include snow, a frozen pond, and leafless trees, as well as visiting sandhill cranes. The site is spacious, has a firepit with a cover. We can supply wood if you need it (just text us). In summer we have mosquitos being so close to river so come prepared with some serious sprays or creams- citronella candles and herbal stuff won't be effective here. You will have a lot of privacy in the bosque, and it is relatively quiet from urban noise. But you will be in agricultural country, so you will hear sounds of roosters, horses, goats, peacocks as well as our neighbors doing their thing in the farm land all around you. There can be dogs barking so if any of this noise bothers you at night you will want to bring earplugs.

You are welcome to come sit by the fire and be social or just do your own thing. Learn more about this land: Sites located across the property for up to 8 groups. The RV camping is located near one of our horse corrals and above our irrigation Acequia, above or next to the house, or in the field down by the arena after haying is complete (usually after the first week of July as long as the rain cooperates). Can back in or pull through and has 110v power nearby. No water to hook up to, but we can fill your tanks via hose by the house or arena. Other sites available if you don’t need power, or have a generator.  Property is within a 100yds of national forest service that gives access to off-roading, hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing, and winter snowshoeing, cross country skiing, etc. We are located just off the High Road to Taos in Llano, 29 miles south of Taos and 55 miles north of Santa Fe. We are eight miles from Ski Sipapu and eight miles from Rio Santa Barbara Canyon.  Your well-behaved pets are welcome. We also have one great dane (Raggy), a great dane mix (The Morrigan), one ranch cat (Sasha) and four horses (Gentry, Shadow, Mattie & Jr G). The dogs are a rescue of some kind. The Morrigan is black, 3.5 yrs old and comes out of a rescue in AZ. She went in with her litter as a 5 month old puppy, and she came here about a year later. She is reticent and suspicious, so ignore her and she will come up to you on her own; continue to ignore her. Ragnar (Raggy) is our most recent rescue and is from Las Cruces. He's 3 yrs old and a merle. He suffers from anxiety and fears children. We are working him through his fears, and he is doing really well. The weather here tends to run cooler, as we are located in the mountains in a small valley at approximately 7,800 ft above sea level. In the spring through fall, temps will average from mid 40°F up to mid 60°F at night and mid 60°F up to mid 90°F during the day. Temps can get into the 100°F's in the summer, but that is rare. Generally if the sun is out, it is warm or hot even tho the actual temps are not. It's a high-altitude affect. The opposite is true as well. Cloud cover will feel cooler. We also experience monsoon style rains that occur in the afternoon generally starting in July and running into August or later. In the late fall through early spring during winter, the average temps usually run from 0°F up to mid 20°F at night with occasional dips into negative temps and in the day generally run from mid 20°F up to the mid 40°F range. Same as above - if the sun is out, it will feel warmer, etc. We do hay the fields, so we may have tractor activity going on in the late spring and early summer. In the winter we will be clearing snow from the roads and feeding hay. Can't wait to see everyone this year!

Victoria was a wonderful host. She let me know easy directions to her home/site. The site was beautiful and restful, which was good because I had become ill before arriving so spent a lot of time in the camper. There was a snowstorm the night before I was to leave, dumping 8 inches of snow to dig out of. Victoria helped me dig out the camper and truck while her husband cleared the driveway with a tractor. Given the road conditions, Victoria gave me recommendations for which road to travel to increase my safety. She and her husband were the best of hosts!

So, if you are looking for a home away from home, this place may be for you. This is how I want to be living on a daily basis. We parked our car on the designated gravel spot. Walked the signed trail to a deck dedicated to yoga while a ping pong table is 5 feet away. Going along the path further you see a bunny hanging out in the brush while little birds fly bush to bush alongside you. Then you spot the entrance to the tree house. Directly behind it is your fully equipped kitchen with seating and all under a tin roof. Then a fire pit is on your way to the outdoor bathroom. Don't worry you cross a bridge and step over marked rocks like on an adventure. A hot water shower, relaxes you while the trees hang over with the blue sky peaking through. This place was paradise! Thank you for being so creative and well equipped for every possible situation! Top Notch!

The space was quiet and the views were beautiful. We had a large space to ourselves. It was a perfect place to camp while visiting family.

1 night at Rancho Algo Mas

Rancho Algo Mas is 25 minutes or so from Ojo Caliente, one of our favorite places on the planet. You drive in past the main house, past all the animals of a working farm. You camp in a secluded grove of trees with fire pit, table, and freestanding compostable toilet. It was one of the best hipcamp experiences we've had! Very thoughtful touches. Our only regret is that we didn't get a tour of the whole property!

New Awning Over Front of The Chi-Treehouse! Around the back is the Kitchen, Dining, Fire Pit, Sunning Lounge, New BBQ, Bridge to the Private Outdoor Shower and Bath... And Just a 10 Second Walk over the bridge!

Greg and Robbie’s property was the perfect quiet weekend escape for my wife and I. It was very clean, and it had everything that we needed. We originally booked for one night, but we enjoyed it so much that we extended for an extra day. I’d even say it is much better than the photos. We will definitely book again if we’re back in the area.

Gregory called me when I was on the road. I showed up around 9:15 at night. He left the lights on at the treehouse, which was very cool! Giving great directions to enter sara‘s land. Very peaceful, quite nice layout. I would recommend if you wanna have a good outdoor experience check it out.

Weekend Trip to Rancho Algo Mas

The hosts were great. They were very welcoming and accommodating. The area you’re camping at feels very private. There’s lots of trees and greenery surrounding the camp site. You can walk down to the Rio Grande and hike around the property. The outhouse they made is really nice quality and there is a sink as well. I would absolutely go back. I really enjoyed our two night stay there.

Definitely recommend staying here. Everything was clean, comfortable, and beautiful. The location was amazing and had cool little spots set up for different hang outs. I wish we could have stayed more than one night! Thank you again so much for everything guys!

We got to meet a very nice family, then they respected our privacy after they explained some particulars. Short walk to the Rio Grande River . They delivered fresh eggs for $7. Firewood was provided. We enjoyed our stay.

Sunny Mellow is just as great as it looks in the pictures, actually even better! The Yoga Yurta was super comfy, and the bathroom’s just a few steps away and really clean. Greg was an awesome host - gave a tour and shared some great local tips. The whole place is amazing. The orchard, vineyard, swing, and common areas are all so chill and welcoming. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need to cook, grill, or make coffee. Only stayed one night, which was definitely not enough. Plus, it’s really close to other fun places to explore. Can’t wait to come back!

Very secluded and private. And a wonderful 'orchestra' of animal noises to wake up to - loved it! - easily my favorite part. Bit weedy and buggy but short walk to the Rio Grande. Some overhanging branches which may pose a risk to taller vehicles getting in and out.

Weekend Trip to Two Hawk Ranch

We loved the land: A river, a creek and two acequias? Fields full of life. Gorgeous trees, elk, bear, coyotes, so many insects, hawks (of course) and so many other birds. The owners dogs are adorable and the owners are respectful and very responsive. The horses are gorgeous. And it's a slice of northern New Mexican heaven, even the motor cycles. Yes, all of it is the Land of Enchantment. Enjoy!
