Wickiup Village Cabins

Welcome to Wickiup Cabins where adventure or relaxation can go hand in hand.  We have what you are looking for.  Our rustic yet modernized cabins were built in 1937 and provided all the comforts of home.   Perhaps, a wedding destination, family reunion, small company retreat or a destination for relaxing while enjoying our mountain streams and quiet peaceful settings under our 80 foot spruce trees. It is here you can also come for hunting, ATV riding, rock climbing above and below us, mountain biking, fishing, riding the Mickelson Trail, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse or historic Lead Deadwood to name some of our Black Hills offerings. We are located central to the Northern Black Hills at the top of Spearfish Canyon 10 minutes west of Lead Deadwood on Highway 85.  Wickiup has the monopoly on Spearfish Creek.  Long gone are the cabin camps that once provided memories for children to older folks never to be forgotten.  Warm summer days of tubing, fishing, panning for those gold flakes or just skipping rocks.

Cross E Ranch Camping

This is a working cattle ranch, owned by our family for 4 generations.  It’s located on clear creek and a historical route used to trail cattle to the nearby railroad to load on the trains.

We are located near Leiter, Wy 82837 please search this and notice we are remotely located, not close to town.  

There are multiple spots to pick for pitching a tent.  Decide if you’d like to camp on the banks of clear creek or on a top of a hill with a view.  

If you’re pulling a camper or driving an RV there are 2 easily accessible locations with access to power.  Locations are near Clear Creek so you can enjoy playing in the water or take a hike through a pasture.  

There is a cafe and bar just 4 miles up the road.  They also offer shower and laundry services.  

We are a real working cattle ranch and there is local wildlife to view.

Downey Ranch Devils Tower

Welcome to the Downey Ranch!  The Downey Ranch has been in the family for over 60 years, and 4 generations.  We are a  working cattle ranch in Northeast Wyoming.  With views of the Devils Tower, and only minutes from world class Keyhole Lake, it is our little slice of heaven.  We were also the very first National Audubon Society Conservation Ranch in Wyoming and our commitment to our land is what makes our ranch special.  Part of the black hills of Wyoming, the ranch is a mixture of ponderosa pine canyons and sagebrush steppe prairie.  We own cattle, horses, chickens and our wonderful dogs.  Our wildlife includes Pronghorn Antelope, Mule and white tailed deer, mountain lions, prairie dogs, badgers, weasel, mink, beaver and much much more.  Our birdlife includes a highly visible Bald Eagle Nest, Blue Heron Rookery, and many other avian species. There is world class walleye fishing at keyhole lake and an abundance of privacy for wildlife watching.  Caves, Canyons, and forests surround Wyoming's iconic Sagebrush Steppe. We are 30 miles from  Devils Tower National Monument near Hulett, WY. The first National Monument in the United States. We are 30 miles away from Sundance, WY. home of the Sundance kid.About 85 miles from Sturgis, SD. home of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.We are about 75 miles from Mount Rushmore National Monument.If you drive 65 miles East you can get to famous Deadwood, SD. The ranch has been in the family for over 60 years. We recently purchased this and put a house and fill basement in it. We have a cool old barn and corrals that have been there for decades, as well as other old buildings. We offer our basement as an Airbnb rental, and would like to offer camping opportunities as well. Redwater Revival Campground

Book a peaceful and beautiful site on a private creek.

The Redwater Revival Campground joined Hipcamp and was open during the 2020 summer season. Herb met and accommodated many wonderful guests and had a blast doing it. 

The red bluff in the background was a very strategic vantage point for early Indigenous Americans for hunting game that roamed the creek bottom.

The Redwater Creek is full of Brown and Rainbow trout. They are sneaky little buggers that can actually hear your footsteps when you are fishing along the bank.
