The Pea Ridge Bike Camp has primitive campsites available for visitors to Northwest Arkansas and can accommodate tent campers, campervans, small and large campers and RVs. Potable water, outside sinks and large ADA portable toilets are centrally located to most of the areas. There is a large in-ground community firepit, 2 picnic tables, horseshoes and a bikewash station onsite. We are currently providing free firewood for each firepit. Our property consists of 10 acres of flat open areas, shady areas and wooded areas. All of the property is shaded by 7 pm. We are located on a gravel road in the country, yet only 1/8 mile to state highway 72. Pea Ridge Bike Camp is about 7 miles to downtown Bentonville and only 5 miles from Exit 88 and I-49. Illinois River Paradise | 60 Acres

1 site · Tent60 acres · Wheeler, AR
Winding river bottoms, gravel bars, overlooks, waterfalls, & 200+ year old oaks! Walk on the same untouched trails Native Americans took followed later by Civil War soldiers. We've been working hard to create the trails, views, and unique experiences for you to enjoy God's Creation only 10 minutes from a Walmart! Tired of camping next to people? With 60 acres for your enjoyment and gated entrance, you won’t see anyone else during your whole stay! 15 min from I-49 with Walmarts and gas stations even nearer keeps you close to town. You can choose from multiple campsites, but we will not book anyone else during your stay. Camp right next to the Illinois River under giant oaks, ash trees, and sycamores with a waterfall behind you and the river in front. Or move up the hill and enjoy the 10 mile view (when leaves are dropped) while watching the sunset. Seriously, it’s the best view west of Fayetteville. The deep shade of the campsite with the breeze coming over river keeps the space surprisingly cool even in extreme heat. Feeling fun? Camp in the old dirt mine with 10’ walls around you shaded by a massive pine growing in the center and oaks around the perimeter. Hiking trails have been cut for you to enjoy the property. Make sure to check out “Mini Hawksbill Crag”- a rocky outcropping hanging off the cliff side. Another fun trail leads you up a creek bed with multiple small waterfalls. A couple canoes and kayaks are available to float the river if you desire as an add on. You can go upstream easily in normal water flow! If you’re looking for fun family time with your kids, I will do whatever I can to help you during your stay to make lasting memories. We’re big believers in families enjoying the outdoors together! A truck can be driven to riverside campsite when dry or there is a 100 yard walk from a small parking area. More vehicles can be parked on top of hill which is 5 minute walk. There is a picnic table and fire pit at the riverside campsite. Bald Eagles are seen most days in the winter. Birders will also appreciate the feeder in the campsite. Fishing poles are available as an add on. You can bring your own too! Catch small mouth, large mouth, bream, crappie, catfish, gar, and carp/buffalo, but you’re competing with the neighborhood beaver so be on the lookout for him! Please release small mouth besides a legal keeper is 14" (6-7 year old fish!) and limit of 2. Rear wheeled drive vehicles should park at the parking area by old stable Absolutely no hunting wildlife or foraging mushrooms without prior approval.

Camping near Pineville with climbing guide

Overview

In the Western Missouri Ozarks, Pineville is prime float trip territory, thanks to the Elk River and its tributaries. If hitting the water isn’t in your plans, there’s much to explore in the tri-state region. The Ozark mountains extend into Oklahoma and Arkansas, providing landscapes for hiking and mountain biking, with beautiful bluffs and tumbling waterfalls. Private RV parks across the region offer camping amenities like full hookups and free wifi, and river access is sometimes an extra benefit. Nearby, the Huckleberry Ridge Conservation Area offers primitive camping near Pineville.

Where to go

Joplin, Missouri

You might know of Joplin from Nat King Cole’s classic “(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66.” Once a stop on the famed highway, today, Joplin is a small town on the rise, recovering from a devastating tornado. Travelers can check out picturesque Grand Falls, the Wildcat Glades natural area, and sites from the Route 66 heyday. Several private RV parks in Joplin and nearby Carthage provide amenities, but public parks are hard to find without venturing out of town.

Northwest Arkansas

Another hub of activity near Pineville is found in Northwest Arkansas, where the tri-cities of Rogers, Bentonville, and Fayetteville converge. The Ozarks hills are home to a mountain biking scene that’s gaining national attention, as is the renowned Crystal Bridges of American Art. Private RV parks are scattered across the metros, with scenic public campgrounds found at nearby Devil’s Den State Park and Beaver Lake.

Roaring River State Park

Grab a fly rod or fishing pole, and head to Roaring River State Park. Located around 60 minutes east of Pineville, this state park is a popular spot for trout fishing, thanks to the well-stocked spring-fed waters. It’s also a good location for soaking in the scenery of the Ozarks, with hiking and biking trails crisscrossing the landscape. The onsite campgrounds offer sites for tents and RVs, some with electric hookups. Cabin rentals offer comfortable accommodations along the creek.

When to go

Summertime brings the bounty of campers to the Pineville region, due to the popularity of the rivers and outdoor activities. The waters are a refreshing break from the heat and humidity of the season. Spring and fall are pleasant, with moderate temperatures and scenic landscapes. For prime leaf-peeping, head to the region in October. Winter is the slow season, as freezing temperatures and winter precip are possible. Some campgrounds close temporarily.
