We have 40 acres of woods, tiny waterfalls, hiking, stargazing, bird watching, and sunset watching for the campers who like primitive camping. Hobbs State National Park is close by off Scenic Highway 12, with biking, and walking trails galore! We are also close to many of the NW Arkansas mountain biking trails in the area! Access to Beaver Lake is a short drive or a long hike down the scenic rock roads. Due to the remote, and private location, we want to remind everyone that consuming alcohol under the age of 21 will not be tolerated. Safety is very important to us. Built a cabin for us and our 6 children to stay in, when we came riding.  We have been told that these hills were once used as strawberry farms. We still find wild strawberries growing. The hills we ride and hike in, were once used by Jessie James and his gang.  They robbed the local bank in Pineville, MO.  And the first Jessie James movie, filmed in 1939, with Tyrone Power as Jessie James and Henry Fonda played Frank James.

Weekend Trip to Bigfoot County Campgrounds

Found some trees perfect for a hammock, hiked down the rock trail, made a campfire cake, had camp coffee and enjoyed the scenery. It was my kind of party. Camper was in good shape, smelled and looked clean. Having a flushable toilet, a queen size bed to sleep in, and the option to use the stove were all very convenient (especially with a 4 year old). Great place for the price, I enjoyed the atmosphere and it was peaceful and fun. Host was responsive.

Kevin is a gracious host and the upstairs room was a welcome respite on a cold, windy, rainy night. It was clean and warm and roomy. He is new to Hipcamp and is still working on amenities but I had everything I needed because I’m car camping. I will return if in the area. Thanks Kevin!

Kevin is a gracious host. His place was welcomed shelter on a cold, rainy, very windy night. I was comfy cozy in the upstairs room. Kevin is new to Hipcamp and is still working on the amenities, but I had everything I needed with me since I was car camping. I even decided to stay a second night. We had a great time here. Beautiful land and cozy cabin. Very comfortable and great kitchen set up with induction stove and convection countertop oven. Everything was very clean and well stocked with everything from board games to laundry soap. The hosts John and Ginny are nice and welcoming. We will definitely come back when we can stay longer.

Tents were clean and well outfitted, as were restrooms. We should have brought battery powered fans however, as it was miserably hot even though the front of the tent/porch was shaded. We’ll have to try again in the fall or the spring…. Maybe power to the tents for guests to bring fans, or provide something solar-powered? Overall though a pleasant stay.

Overall, it is a wonderful spot! Has everything you need for a great weekend away. We did have a few details we wish we knew beforehand that wasn’t provided in the description. I wouldn’t still highly recommend the spot despite the missing information, which I’m sure will be updated. It says secluded but it’s about 10 feet from their house and the neighbors. It didn’t affect our stay but I wouldn’t really call it secluded. When I think of the word secluded I think that it is a very large lot and the stay space is far away from the house and not able to be seen just by looking out the back window. In addition, we did not know they had a dog they would be letting out 10 feet from our stay with no warning. Since it says off leash, that would be really good information to have when bringing a dog of our own. While our dogs are friendly, suddenly having another dog run up into the space was quite a shock and could have caused issues. It has since been updated, but originally the listing said “pets allowed” and when we arrived with 2 dogs they informed us they only allow one and would have to charge us for the extra dog. All of that being said, it is still a beautiful place and would stay again, just wish we had that additional information beforehand.

Booked this last minute due to some crazy storms and wanted a bit of refuge and it was perfect! The camper was air tight through the craziest rainstorm and we could even have the windows open. The property was clean and well stocked and our pups loved exploring the trails and area.

We had such a great experience at the Rt. 62 campground. We stayed in the Bungalow cabin with our dogs. The grounds were lovely with a lot of different activities. The jacuzzi tub was a fun addition. The hosts were very easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay there again!
