Our yurt sits on the edge of a wild woods on the banks of the Cloquet River overlooking a meadow that is an active forest restoration project currently in process. From your door, you can access a loop of trails that wind through the woods, to the river and back to the yurt. Get back to basics. There is no electricity or running water in the yurt. Camp lanterns and solar lights are provided as is refillable fresh water and a propane camp stove/oven with pots/pans/utensils. The yurt is heated solely by a wood stove and there is plenty of firewood a short distance away with a sled or wagon to use for hauling. A campfire pit is just outside the yurt with a hanging grill and grilling tools. A detached outhouse is a short walk from the yurt and is for your use alone when you're here. In the winter, a Luggable Loo is available to bring to the yurt to eliminate trips at night in the cold to the outhouse. The yurt contains a queen bed with linens and a single camp cot available on request.  Dogs are welcome in the yurt! We charge a $25 pet fee per reservation. If you'd like to bring a dog or dogs (limit 2), please add the Pet Fee which is listed as an extra during the booking process. In the warm months, the river is great for swimming and fishing. (And Coming Soon: Kayaks, river tubes, and canoe availability pending the sorting of proper insurance.) In the winter, two pairs of snowshoes are included for quiet walks through the woods. *Note: Train sounds and some road noise can be heard from the yurt. The train has been described as "quite loud" by some guests and as sounding "off in the distance" and "pleasant" by others. The crossing is a half mile away. If you're sensitive to sounds, a light sleeper, or looking for complete and utter quiet, please take this into account. Ear plugs are also available in the yurt.

A driveway provides easy access from Gerzin Road for people who might have a hard time walking long distances, with driveway parking right by the campsite; The location provides birding, hiking, bogging, and snow-shoeing possibilities for people of various abilities, both in the property and at nearby attractions like Washington State Forest or Cloquet Valley. Property is about half wetland and half forest, so ensure you safely prepare for expeditionary activities you might undertake...but you already knew that :-) A map is attached with the photos, where the light green is bog/wetland and the darker green is forest, with the campsite shown in a white pin drop and some other markers like deer stands and feed lots in red/blue pin drops. The trails are marked in teal lines on the map (some blaze orange ribbons on trees irl) but not state-park-level by any measure (goals!) My buddy who has leased the hunting rights this year maintains the trails from time to time, but be aware of both, overgrowth and marshland. Dress in bright colors. The campsite has a campfire setup, picnic table, firewood pile, other seating areas, space to play games/sports (some equipment provided), grills, propane stoves (propane not provided), an outhouse, borewell water (not drinkable without boiling/treatment but can be used for dishes, washing etc.). The cabin has heat by way of a propane heater. Solar-powered lantern in the cabin can charge cell phones. NOT ON THE GRID, but a generator takes care of any electronic or electrical appliances you might want to run. Bring drinking-water/TP/food/layers/sleeping-bags/blankets/trash-bags/repellant/etc.

This is a fantastic place to stay. The host is wonderful and the location is incredible. We enjoyed the trails and keeping warm by the log cabin. Our dogs also had a blast. We would definitely come back.

This little cabin was easy to find and felt incredibly peaceful. The flowers out there were beautiful! Make sure you bring your bug spray if you want to enjoy the picnic table but would recommend this place to anybody passing through.

3 nights at Lake View Lodge

This is a quiet resort with a variety of cabin sizes. Our cozy cabin had all the amenities of home. Yes, each cabin includes the pontoon rental, so you could come and go as you please. The pontoons did not have a huge motor, but neither was the lake. Perfect for fishing and day cruising around the lake. Loved this option since we do not own a boat. We had a great time. Cabin 3 had a full-sized bedroom with an additional futon in the living space.

It was a peaceful and beautiful cabin out in the middle of nowhere. The beds were comfortable enough. It was nice they did have fitted sheets on top of the beds. The wood for the campfire was awesome to have. They brought us extra water and tp when we needed it. A little tricky to find but she responded immediately when we messaged. The road to the cabin could use a little maintenance like some pebbles to fill in the pot holes- we didn’t get stuck but we’re concerned a few times. We enjoyed our stay.

Amanda has an amazing and private piece of property. It was plenty quiet and road noice was basically nonexistent. We originally planned to test out a new 6 person tent (location has plenty of large, flat areas prime for tent pads), but a long thunderstorm really made us appreciate the onsite primitive cabin. There were only 2 of us (plus a dog), but the cabin was roomy enough for more. The bunk beds definitely were a comfortable change from tent sleeping pads. The outhouse was nice, clean, and maintained and the large mowed area allowed for all kinds of running around with a dog-type activities. Will definitely visit again- highly recommend!

The property and cabin were lovely. There's no traffic sounds, plenty of wildlife, and a big open field out front. The cabin itself was perfect with comfy beds, stocked firewood, and plenty of space. Amanda was very responsive and brought us more toilet paper when we were running low. This was one of the best Hipcamp experiences I've had!

We loved spending time at this cute little cabin! The property was beautiful and very well kept and clean. The views were amazing and it was so peaceful. We had a pet emergency and had to leave a night early, Amanda was very accommodating, friendly, and helpful in our prompt departure. Very cozy cabin and beautiful land. This was a very “all to yourself” site other than 1 day a parade of side by sides went across the property right behind the cabin. We weren’t aware that others would be accessing the driveway/trails on the property during our stay. There were lots of ticks but there were not mosquitoes. Bring flashlights as the inside of the cabin stays dark throughout the day because of so much tree coverage which is great for temp control. Amanda was great for fulfilling our water needs. We would absolutely go back.

Weekend Trip to Yurt on the River

We stayed at Sue’s Yurt for two nights and had a wonderful experience. It’s a cozy, private retreat with thoughtful amenities that made our stay comfortable. We took a snowmobiling trip up the Babbit and found Duluth easily accessible by car. The yurt itself is well-equipped with a comfortable bed and a mini kitchen. The wood stove works efficiently, keeping the space warm when tended for a while. We also loved exploring the nearby trails, which added to the charm of our stay. Overall, a great place for a peaceful getaway!

This was such an amazing stay! Sue has thought of everything! The wood stove kept the space toasty warm, only needing 1 refill a night at 4 or 5am. We loved all the lanterns and how they created a cozy vibe each night after it got dark. We definitely plan to return for another winter getaway!

Great stay! The snow blocked the sign to the road but Amanda was helpful in getting us back on track. Once we were there the cabin was exactly what you could ask for. Warm cabin surrounded by gorgeous scenery blanketed in snow.
