The Man's Annex aka the Mannex is located on Scenic US HWY 12 to the South and The South Shore Commuter Rail to the North.  The campsite is very clean, tidy and safe.  The main pebble parking area slopes gently to the North so you will want levelers if you're in a camper.  I have a brand new RV Pedestal complete with 50 and 30amp service, a mechanical timer for the LED lights encompassing the parking area as well as a rheostat so you can dim the lights.  I have a 40" firepit with spark arrestor (please use to be in compliance with local laws) as well as a polywood octagonal picnic table and well water with 100' hose.  Trash and human waste is to be carried out.  Please keep your camper to the east of the blue and yellow birdhouses as access to the building is needed. The location is great!  You're inside the dunes national park and only 1.35 miles to the beach.  Just north of the train tracks is the Calumet bike path.  .35 to the west is a gas station with a bathroom, the south shore train station (day trip to Chicago anyone?), a great restaurant and liquor store as well.  Bikes are HIGHLY recommended to be able to help facilitate your exploring of this very unique part of the country. If you're a birder and you don't already know, bring your binocs, this is one of the best birding towns in the Midwest / country due to the location and it's biodiversity.

Absolutely PERFECT private camping spot!! Geoff has done an immaculate job of setting up a well maintained and comfortable stay. 30amp plug in, hose to transfer water, fire pit and café lighting hung for ambiance. Timer and dimmer in the electric box. As it says in his profile, there is the e-train that goes by occasionally- but by no means does it minimize the stay! Geoff stopped by to welcome us, great guy. Had some common threads and ended up having a couple beers with him and great conversation. Ended up booking with him b/c the campgrounds were full - but will easily stay there again no matter what!

Site # 2 is about half way down the pond from the main house. A dock, suitable for sunbathing, picnicking or fishing is just steps away from this site.

My husband and I really enjoyed camping on John's land. Everything that you need is already there, set up ready to go. The place was very peaceful and quiet. Both of our dogs were able to run around the property and enjoy it just as much as we did. I would definitely plan another stay here.

What an incredible place. So peaceful, so secluded, exactly what we were hoping for. We only stayed one night for this trip, and we all wished we could have stayed longer so we will definitely be planning a longer stay in the future. The bed was very comfortable, I always worry about that when staying at places away from home. We did have to relocate a few 8-legged friends from inside the yurt when we first arrived, but they didn’t put up too much of a fight. We got rain during the night, and my new favorite thing is sleeping in a yurt while it’s raining. It was heaven. I love how the yurt is nestled under pines, it’s such a good spot.

We had a lovely time! Ian keeps everything so well maintained and beautiful. He even gave us firewood and starting materials. There is plants of space between the sites. The evening we were there there was only one other occupied campsite (see picture for how far apart we were. There’s a great community space for folks to hang out if you had more people camping alongside you. We definitely recommend!

Loved tent camping on Rebecca’s land. This was my second visit and it was everything I remembered and more. I did bring my dog and she loved having a large site all to herself. As a solo female camper, I felt very safe while still feeling like I had pitched my tent in the middle of nowhere. Highly recommend Wildflower Runway!

This is the view from your tent on Site #3! Please remember that chickens and wildlife wake up very early! I personally find that alarm clock very endearing ~ even on the weekend. You know what they say about the early bird! ;-)

This camping property was beyond incredible! From the moment we arrived, Robyn’s kindness and warmth made the entire experience unforgettable. When we realized our initial site was closer to the house than we expected, she didn’t hesitate to help. She immediately offered us a more private, supported site, making sure we were completely comfortable. Robyn truly went above and beyond—she brought us fresh eggs, got us worms for fishing, let us use the paddle boat, and even personally drove us to go kayaking down the river! She was so thoughtful, sweet, and accommodating every step of the way. Her genuine care and hospitality made our trip so special. We felt so welcomed the entire time, and we definitely plan on coming back. This place, and Robyn, are simply the best!

Staying here for 3 nights was so magical! Rebecca was the best! So helpful with wonderful recommendations for the area and encouraging us to visit with the horses while they were feeding! The camp site was awesome - large, a mix of woods and open space, and was perfect for a group! We loved every minute of the peaceful getaway and can’t wait to come back.

Loved this! The areas were well maintained. The site itself had LOTS of room. Multiple cars and tents would fit (we only had a car). Both walking around and driving through made you feel like you were in a secret, magical clearing. It was quiet and secluded enough that you felt alone, but it wasn’t too far away from anywhere or anything to feel out of reach or touch. There wasn’t anyone at the second site when we were there, but we explored and there is definitely enough space that it wouldn’t be a problem. The horses were also beautiful and just cool to watch. Would definitely recommend bug spray (lots of spray) during bug season. And the wild blackberries were an added bonus.

1 night at The Mannex! Indiana Dunes Nat'l Pk

We stayed at the Mannex with a small Class C and pull behind vehicle. We were able to unhook and rehook the tow vehicle right in the driveway, and was room to park both within the camping area. Be sure to have leveler blocks though as to get close to electrical box and keep your awning towards the tracks (and not the road) you’ll likely need them. Wasn’t a problem though and was a perfect spot for us en route to Iowa to check out the Indiana Dunes. I’d bring a Thermacell for nighttime to keep bugs at bay. I would stay again if coming though the area. (Timer/lights hung at site is a nice touch as is all the bird houses!)
