Jasper Moss is a glamping retreat experience located on the remote Bois Blanc Island, Michigan, where you can unplug, rest, retreat and rejuvenate while surrounded by untouched nature. The venue consists of three yurts, an outdoor shower, sink and toilet, and fully screened outdoor kitchen. It is located across the gravel road from Lake Huron, next to a public nature preserve and a 5-minute walk from one of just two restaurants on the island. A rustic, permalog style cabin that is suited to accommodate up to nine. This is a cabin to help disconnect from the hustle and bustle of our chaotic lives. There is limited cell signal, no internet and no local or cable channels. The cabin is pet friendly, as I believe our pets are an extension of our families and should get to vacation with everyone rather than boarded (dogs only are allowed). Primary source of heat is a propane wall furnace. There is an electric fireplace in the living room. In the summer there is a window AC unit at the cabin and a fan for the loft (it does get hot up there). The cabin is very close (1/4 mile) to the AuSable River where you can easily launch boats, canoes and more. The ORV trail head is just a 1/4 mile down the road. This is also the perfect cabin for hunting, fishing, hiking and trail riding. Be sure to keep an eye out for an eagle or two. Also had deer tracks in the yard.

Weekend Trip to Atwood Lodge

My stay at the Atwood Lodge was an absolute treat for the soul and senses. It provided me with a weekend of peace and beauty to cleanse my mind of the hustle and bustle of city living. My family and I particularly enjoyed the wonderfully manicured trails to walk and explore. We also loved wildlife 'hunting' with our eyes, spotting many deer, turkeys, and monarchs. The stars at night over the campfire on the hill were an absolute spectacle. The beds were clean and comfortable, providing great restful sleep for us all. The lodge interior was clean and cozy, complete with all the amenities one would need from home. My only regret is not walking all the trails this trip, guess I'll have to plan another stay 😉.

We love the yurt camping. Very comfortable set up for glamping. It was so quiet and the island is so beautiful. We had a great time with the serenity of the place if you love quiet and simplicity. People in the island are friendly and helpful. There’s water for showering too and kitchen for cooking. Jasper provided super helpful advice which added to the experience.

The yurts at Jasper Moss are lovely to stay in!! The bed was so comfy and everything was clean. The bath house was the nicest vault toilet I’ve experienced and the shower had wonderful water pressure. The host family was so kind and accommodating. They were willing to help us with everything. Being long term residence of the island, they had so much knowledge to share with us.

Weekend Trip to O Me, O Mio

Such a cozy cabin! Nearby Mio is a very cute town and there’s lots of cool places for easy hikes, bird , scenic overlooks, and enjoying the river nearby. This place is perfect for a “modern technology” detox weekend; the cell service extender works just good enough that I feel like emergency alerts would come through, but other than that no modern technology.
