What a blessing to have found this spot on my epic road trip! From the moment I made my reservation, the communication was excellent and responsive. Even though I arrived late in the evening, my hosts came out to greet me personally and made sure I had absolutely everything I needed for a comfortable night’s rest.
Their genuine warmth and care went above and beyond typical hosting - they truly created a safe, welcoming space for a solo traveler like myself. The morning brought an extra delightful surprise when they checked in on me and I got to meet the adorable newborn goats!
This is exactly the kind of authentic connection that makes Hipcamp experiences so special. I’m deeply grateful to have crossed paths with such wonderful people who create not just a place to park, but a true sanctuary for weary travelers. This is a lovely little set of sites with a real 'back-woods' feel. I think it would be ideal for a group of friends to share several sites and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Alegan Game Preserve - almost a wilderness.
Sites and loo are well-tended, although recent heavy rains displaced some of the mulch base. Right on the fringe of cell service - reduced distraction!

Beautiful spot in the middle of nowhere! If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing weekend or night away this is great. Plenty of free space to move around and take the dogs for a walk. Big fan of listening to nature and it did not disappoint. I think my favorite part was hearing two great horned owls talk to each other for a while. Honestly one of the most relaxing weekends I’ve had in a while.

To start the directions were easy and Shari and David were there to great us. They have a couple hundred acres and the camp site is in the back 40... which they led the way to our beautiful spot by the river. There were plenty of parking options for our trailer to which we backed in under the trees. There is fresh water, picnic table, fire pit and garbage can. There are kayaks available for use in the river...WOW! Sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. It is completely hidden from any civilization. Great place to camp!

The land was just beautiful! I wish we had gotten there earlier and could stay longer to enjoy but it was a very peaceful beautiful place to stay while passing through.. I enjoyed a nice early walk with the pup and saw so many deer .. it was really just beautiful I hope to visit again and visit longer and enjoy 😊

Shari and David were incredible hosts. If you want a no frills, beautiful, private, and unique stay, stay here. We will absolutely seek to stay here again if we are in the area. We had travel troubles and didn’t arrive until midnight and they stayed awake to meet us and guide us to our spot. We were grateful for their hospitality, flexibility, and understanding. An absolutely awesome stay!

This site was AMAZING!! So beautiful and secluded and private. Deep in the middle of some awesome public land. We felt like we were in the wilderness. Saw all sorts of wildlife and did not hear a single sign of humans. The site was right off a dirt road that was easy to get to in any type of vehicle but in the entire time we were there only one vehicle came down the dirt road. There were incredible hiking trails a hundred yards from the site that went for miles and were so wild and scenic. We have stayed at many HipCamp sites before but this one blows all others away. 12/10 would recommend!
