We're a non profit community garden in the Old Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans on the West Bank of the Mississippi River, a 15 minute drive or ferry ride to the French Quarter. We use the money from these bookings to fund the community food access work that we do. While you're here you can enjoy our peaceful and spacious garden property, and we encourage you to get to know some of the fantastic neighbors who use our community fridge and herb garden. Take the scenic Mississippi River Levee Path 1 mile to get to the Algiers Ferry dock which departs every 30 minutes and drops you off at the foot of Canal Street in the heart of New Orleans. If you have a car you can cross the bridge and get to most of the city in 15 minutes. You can also explore Algiers Point with its many restaurants, bars, local art and historic buildings. The levee trail is a block away, where you can jog, bike, or just watch the boats go by. There is also a kitchen space w/ a sink, microwave, toaster, fridge with freezer and an induction dual cooktop. Mark has cultivated a true gem of a space in Algier's Point. I stayed at the tent site for two weeks. It was most days only a 10 minute drive across the bridge for work in the NOLA CBD. I was surrounded by a living garden and it was fantastic. Mark is a lovely human, and it's reflected in his intentional community space. There was also a hot shower and a kitchen I could use. I could not have stumbled upon a better place to be. Thank you, Mark. I'll be back.

I would most definitely recommend Damon's land for camping! It was peaceful and quiet but not too far from town. As a solo female camper, I felt safe. Having access to the RV (which could have been a little cleaner, but was not the worst public bathroom I've seen!) with a flush toilet, hot running water, and shower was a game changer for my trip ~ I had planned to split my 2 week vacation between camping and hostels, but decided to camp the whole time! I will camp on Damon's land again the next time I am in Louisiana!

Great spot! The garden is beautyfull & peaceful, especially for being so close to everything. The shower was better than a lot of houses I've stayed in, so yay for that. Definitely a great experience. My favorite was hearing the boat horns & a marching band practicing at the coast guard campus nearby. Love being right on the levee/river.... Thnx!

I would definitely recommend this spot to others! It's peaceful & quiet. Beautiful area right on the river. Having access to the RV with hot running water, a shower & flush toilet was a game changer! I had planned to split my trip from Maine between car camping & staying at a hostel, but decided to stay on Damon's land for my whole vacation.

The RV space was premo for my vehicle & gear; there was ample space to pitch a tent and beat the Nola heat. Mark communicated transparently about the space and made accessibility easy. The semi-outdoor bathroom/shower was a nice touch - plenty of hot water with the on demand water heater. Mark & co. were super friendly and gave a lot of insights into the little fabulous cultural tidbits that Nola is full of. Sunday brunch was so much fun! Pelican gardens are such a beautiful forest of food and tropical plants 🌿 this was exactly the greenspace and vibe that I was seeking for camping, all while being a 20 minute walk to the Algiers ferry and close to the French Quarter & downtown. Riding the ferry daily and using the RTA Jazzy pass was a total breeze 🏖

Mark's garden oasis in Algiers neighborhood was perfect for our 2 night stay in NOLA. Great spot for our 20' van, nice bathroom with shower! Super friendly folks, Mark and Antoine. Love the family feel, and close to ferry to get easily to tourist areas. Great value and our stay supports the non profit garden project! Love it!!

I really enjoyed the site, Algiers is a very quiet neighborhood compared to New Orleans. The ferry comes every 30 mins and is about a 10 min boat ride to downtown. I flew in and took an Uber to the tent site with my gear, the porch area is great to chill on and I met a really nice guy woofing on the property. It’s pretty great!

This campsite is beautiful. The host, Damon, is a wonderful guy. He does live on-site which wasn't an issue, in fact, I felt safer knowing he was around. The upkeep on the property is well done. Damon allowed us to move sites when we realized we weren't getting as much shade as we wanted in the peak of the day. Our dogs had plenty of room the explore and run. My husband and I were so impressed that we extended our stay. Other notes: This property isn't super remote. Yes there are neighbors and traffic but nothing remotely as bad as a hotel by the interstate or even a KOA.

Beautiful site ! Very quiet area, nice shower\restroom, flourishing garden. I highly recommend. It's near New Orlean's center : 20 min walk in a cute neighborhood, than take a quick ferry ride that brings you downtown for only 2 dollars !
