Weekend Trip to Kickin' it in the Butte

This place is amazing! The owners are the warmest, kindest people imaginable. Their property is full of birds, rabbits, and other fun critters. The RV was super comfortable and had everything we needed. Can't recommend this spot enough!

1 night at Ligneous Countryside Tent Camping

This property is the perfect place for those who want a true camping experience without unnecessary frills. There’s woods, a short path to hike down, an open clearing, plenty of firewood, and no strictly designated sites. Just find a place on the property you like, and set up your campsite. No running water, but there is a porta potty. I brought one of the shower bags that you place up high and was able to just put it on top of my truck for a quick shower in the morning. Hostess met me at the gate when I arrived, gave me a quick tour, and even brought a 5 gallon bucket of water for my shower bag since there’s no running water at this location. Super friendly, very helpful, and I will likely stay here again in the future.

Weekend Trip to Iberia Market Garden

This was a really beautiful peaceful stay!! The farm and garden are gorgeous, the suite has everything you need, and we LOVED PEANUT!! The dog! So cute. Everything was amazing, we will be back!

Weekend Trip to Island Side Barbershop and RV Site

Really neat site in the middle of a swampy area full of frogs and even a young alligator. Bring your bug spray and a sense of adventure! The hosts were so kind and made me feel immediately at home. The camper pad was perfect and felt very private.

We really enjoyed our stay at Phanat’s property! The area is very flat and safe, and appreciated the use of the bath/shower to rinse off. Phanat gave us a quick tour before dark. It is very impressive what he is doing in this part of town to provide fresh food to folks! Loved it and would definitely recommend and come back 👍

Nice private site next to the Sheriff's office. Never met to host but I had all I need on my camper. Very annoying/aggressive rooster on the property.

Loved everything! Phanat and Jen were super amazing! We loved their garden and their pups! Food at Jane's was great and the shrimp poor boy was awesome at Bon Creole! Would definitely come back!!

A really great place to stay. They have a full hookup setup in a nice little hideaway community right off I-10. Scotty and Ginny were so welcoming and hospitable even when I was only stopping by overnight. Wish I could have stayed longer

Recieved the gate code the day I arrived. Had a great shower and sat in the garden until it got dark. Due to on going travel only met host for a short time, but his set up is perfect. Mini stove allowed me to make hot tea and noodles.

3 nights at The Joshua On Hwy 61

The location on US 61 was very nice, all level campsites plus packed down gravel access road. The front of the campground appeared to be an old roadside motel, but is actually apartments. The campsites were really good, had 50a, 30a, and 120 electrical, water hookup, and onsite sewage, all sites were mostly level (except for 19 & 20, I had to use shims on one side). Plus, A couple of very bright security lights illuminated the entire campground very well. I never met the host. We communicated by text only, and only after I sent him an email informing him we arrived. Please note, there is NO internet or phone service!! There appears to be guest internet service, but it needed a password, which wasn’t provided to us. There is also a laundry room at the south end of the apartment building, and the host did provide the pass code for access. Overall, we were pleased with the location, easy to find. The camp sites were well maintained and private. But, In my opinion, this location is not suited for a long term stay. Picnic tables were all located in the middle of a fire ant infested yard with barely any shade, & campsites are all lined up next to one another-especially if full capacity!

We loved our stay at Susan’s. The family welcomed us and showed us to a good spot ( because there was some puddles from an unusual amount of rain. ) She offered to bring us a fire pit! It was a peaceful night… just what we needed!

We loved the staff, very helpful and welcoming. The weather was too chilly to go on the pool or the lazy river but they looked to be in excellent condition, restrooms, showers and laundry area also very clean. Pretty wide open so very easy to get a large RV in. Good location.

WELCOME TO BUTTE LA ROSE, THE HEART OF THE ATCHAFALAYA BASIN: In the early 1930s when the Army Corps of Engineers carved two long levees right through the Atchafalaya River Basin, what had once been a widely sprawling river system prone to seasonal flooding became a fifteen-mile-wide "spillway" contained between those two earthen walls. The water level in the Basin rose by several feet, permanently flooding many areas, and people who had made their homes there eventually moved to communities on the dry, western side of the levee--Henderson, Catahoula, Bayou Benoit and beyond--leaving no trace of the old settlements behind. Only one community remained. Perched on a ridge along the banks of the Atchafalaya River, Butte La rose is the only community in St. Martin Parish that is still located between the Basin levees. No other place can claim to be the heart of Atchafalaya as credibly as Butte La Rose can. The community is nestled against one of the more winding meanderings of the Atchafalaya River, and residents remain closely tied to the river and other nearby waterways--fishing, crawfishing, frogging and hunting, enjoying bayou-side crawfish boils and pleasure boating. So many waterways surround Butte La Rose--Butte La Rose Canal, Henderson Lake, Lake Begneaux, Lake Pelba--it's as close to an island as you can get without actually being an island. What is available.......Great cajun food, swamp tours, boating, fishing, hunting, walking trails, festivals, local art, crafts, vintage and antique shops, cajun music and dancing and joie de vivre!
