The three group tents can sleep up to 4 each, and are furnished with a queen and two twin-sized beds, along with cozy decor. There is no electricity in the tents, but there are lanterns and solar lights to help guide your way back to your retreat after dark. The group tent area also includes a community fire pit for late night S'mores, another outdoor area with a gazebo and a grill, and an enclosed outhouse and shower. The secluded tent is for those who want a little more privacy. This tent is furnished with a queen size bed, and is stylishly decorated. Such a great site, and the riding is fantastic no matter what direction you head from camp. Amy is a great host, communicating quickly. The onsite facilities are perfect, and I'm anxious to come back this spring. If you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend ear plugs, but I wear them at most every camp site. The cows have a lot to say!

We stayed one night at Steve and Sharon’s land during our road trip from Nebraska to Kansas, and it was such a lovely experience! My children absolutely loved it — especially the Yut, fireplace and adorable, friendly horses that my younger son couldn’t get enough of. The Yut was spotless, cozy, and very comfortable. It was so beautiful in the night under the moon and stars. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Beautifully situated along the Flint Hills Trail, the Basecamp was easy and restful. Cold water shower and very clean porta potty. Perfect for a one night stop. RV site 1 has a streetlight adjacent so pick #2 if you’re looking for darker night. Fire pits are spacious and include a cooking grate. Pads relatively level and adjacent but not cramped. Good rural dog walking paths!

What a wonderful little camping site right on the Flint Hills Nature Trial. We use the tent camping area. had access to a covered slab with picnic tables, I very nice porta potty, and (cold water) showers, one in an enclosure with a bench and one in the open. The floor was composite, clean and easy on the feet. The tent area was soft grass and clover under several shade trees with a couple of fire pits available where you can bring your own or reserve wood kept at the site. For $10 a night and $5 for firewood you just can't beat this as a camp site especially for trial hikers or cyclist.

We chose Bare Ass Acres for its excellent reviews and for its proximity to the Tall Grass Prairie National Preserve. The good reputation is well deserved: Brenda is a very welcoming host, the sites are fairly flat, with water and electricity, and availability of sewer. You can hear the train, but it certainly didn't keep us awake. We stayed 2 nights. Brenda, we enjoyed our conversations. If we ever travel to this area again we will definitely stay at this hipcamp again.

Base Camp Flint Hills is an oasis on the trail for cyclists. Located right on the Flint Hills Nature Trail, the camp area is 54 miles from eastern Ottawa trail head and about 50 miles from the western Herington trail headmaking it a nice day ride for beginners or intermediate riders alike. The property is clean and well kept. Shower is refreshing, though not heated and toilet is a porta-john that was in immaculate condition and clean. There was plenty of firewood for purchase and a nice mix of camping options from several camper spaces, two RV spaces, a group camping area, and a tent / hammock area with shared fire pit / picinic table. The surrounding area is peacefull and the flint hills sky will not disapoint on a starry night.
