Come reconnect with nature and rejuvenate by the water at this unforgettable escape. Stargaze, watch sunsets, or curl up and read on the 15 foot hammock by the water. You’ll see lots of wildlife-ducks, geese, a great blue heron, deer, and more have been spotted by the pond.
The pond is about an acre in size and we also own the hay field south of the pond all the way to the road. You are welcome to walk around the pond on the path we’ve mowed and can also walk the field (depending on the time of year). It’s a hay field and you’ll see all sorts of vegetation growing up, including some beautiful wildflowers in the spring.
The RV spot is in a large grassy area next to an apple and peach tree. We also have a small asparagus patch and a raised bucket garden with tomatoes. Feel free to grab a couple items to add to your dinner as needed (depending on the season).
We do have barn cats (and frequently kittens) that might venture over to say hello and a new puppy named Pepper. Pepper loves new people, but wears a collar connected to an electric fence outside, so he won’t be able to reach your rv spot. However, you are more than welcome to walk to him and give him all the love and snuggles. We also have three children that you may see outside climbing trees, reading in homemade hammocks, or playing cabbage ball in the yard.
For the explorers, there are plenty of gravel roads to bike, kayaks and a paddleboat available for the pond, and plenty of fish in the pond to catch. There is also an apple orchard up the road that has a small storefront and a mini golf course in the back. Emporia is only 4 miles south of us so there’s plenty of grocery stores and restaurants nearby.

This campground can be found within city limits of Dwight, Ks located in northern Morris County along the Union Pacific Railroad line. It's the perfect place to stay during your back road adventure through the Flint Hills.
Enjoy exploring the four corners of our small town on two feet, two wheels or four. Have a picnic or play horseshoes at the City Park, visit the Dwight Library or attend a Sunday service at the Community Church. On Main Street you can find two large limestone structures from the early days of Dwight - the old limestone hardware store and the limestone bank/post office.
Dwight is minutes from Ag Heritage Park and Museum in Alta Vista; the historic Council Grove with shopping, restaurants, lakes and Flint Hills Nature Trail; and Fort Riley Army Base, home of the Big Red 1.
Our campground is geared toward short stays. Those that don't mind trains and a morning rooster. Other than that, we are tucked in safe, quiet place for an overnight or for a few nights as you visit friends, family or attending nearby event.

Camping at Brenda’s was peaceful, beautiful, and filled our hearts with so much joy. Her and Murphy were such kind and friendly hosts! We really enjoyed chatting with her about the dogs and property!
The land is very well maintained and it is fenced in so our dogs were able to enjoy it off leash and they really enjoyed the freedom while I really loved the safety!

Beautifully situated along the Flint Hills Trail, the Basecamp was easy and restful. Cold water shower and very clean porta potty. Perfect for a one night stop. RV site 1 has a streetlight adjacent so pick #2 if you’re looking for darker night. Fire pits are spacious and include a cooking grate. Pads relatively level and adjacent but not cramped. Good rural dog walking paths!

What a peaceful few nights we spend at Basecamp Flint Hills. Highly recommend visiting the Flint Hills Visitor Center and doing the gorgeous 2 mi hike of Kaw Native Land in Council Grove (?). Beautiful Harvest Moon during our stay… will definitely go back!

We chose Bare Ass Acres for its excellent reviews and for its proximity to the Tall Grass Prairie National Preserve. The good reputation is well deserved: Brenda is a very welcoming host, the sites are fairly flat, with water and electricity, and availability of sewer. You can hear the train, but it certainly didn't keep us awake. We stayed 2 nights. Brenda, we enjoyed our conversations. If we ever travel to this area again we will definitely stay at this hipcamp again.

If I could give it stars, I’d give it a 10! Very simple, beautiful setting. Amy, the host was very responsive. I’m not sure August is the best time to visit. VERY hot and little shade. But we were in our RV, connected to power, so we could run our a/c, and once the sun went down, it was very pleasant outside.
The shower is described as a cold water shower. It because of the weather, the water was hot for a couple of minutes, and even when it cooled down, it was quite nice, and what a setting!
It would be fun to be there with people around, so we hope to come back during a more popular time to visit. Easy access to Emporia, and located right on the Flint Hills Trail.
We highly recommend.

We enjoyed a peaceful retreat at Basecamp Flint Hills during our cross country travels. There is a public trail nearby for walking or riding if you need to stretch your legs. View gorgeous sunsets, watch hordes of lightning bugs after dark, and listen to the birds in the morning from your campsite.

I am a " senior" and it was a challenge getting there! Google maps failed miserably!
It was a challenge backing into the site!
Keep in mind i seek out drive thru sites!
It really is a gorgeous site....if you have been traveling all day....this is an oasis!
What hoot this site would be if you were traveling with friends and wanted to kick back! I hope they follow thru with maps and directions! A plus was being able to call and get a quick response!
I would stay there again!

Oh my goodness!! Can I give 10 stars? 🥰 Leah is the sweetest, kindest and oh so gracious host. We had such a beautiful time on her farm. Such love and creativity everywhere you see and walk. We were treated like family. Was actually teary saying goodbye!! Every aspect was perfect. Homey, beautiful and so so welcoming. Do not pass this beautiful place up. We are leaving w such beautiful memories. Sweet Kiddies, kittens and adorable dog all completed the sweet stay. 🥰

Traveling home from vaca we were looking for a spot off the beaten path, quiet and somewhat secluded. This spot was definitely off the beaten path, quiet for the most part but the trailer spot is right off their main road. Secluded, is debatable. The trailer spot is approximately 300 ft from the host’s house. It is shaded with their farm animals within view. Horses and chickens. I’m not sure this would be suitable for us for a long stay but for a quick overnight it served its purpose. Host - Steve was helpful and very informative and helped with making sure we knew where to hook up. They did inform us of their land and where we could walk around but unfortunately due to the amount of traveling we took the opportunity to just rest.
