We have a hidden exotic fruit orchard tucked away through rolling green hills, perched over the Hamakua cliffs, overlooking the pacific. We sell our fruits ripe and cut ready to eat at our roadside fruit stand, open 10-6 daily including holidays! We serve local fresh juices and machete open coconuts to drink ice cold. We grow mango, durian, lilikoi, star fruit, chocolate sapote, buddhas hand citrus, finger limes, tangerines and tangelos, jackfruit, tree grapes, mangosteen, white pineapples, mountain apples, berries, spices and much more. We are home to dozens of rescue animals, many who came from Puna during the 2018 lava flow. Meet peaceful sheep, lambs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and a lovable pet pig. Not to mention our friendly farm cats. We are a community of a few passionate farmers and fruit lovers. There’s a family- myself Rose, my partner Matthew and our daughter Mela, plus several awesome guys and girls who help out in different areas to grow our lives together!

There is no electricity in the cabanas but there are power strips available in the common area.  The common area consists of a large deck with picnic tables, Wifi access (pw: pickalltheweeds), power strips for charging electronics, canopies for when it rains, a 2-burner hotplate for cooking, pots, pans, plates, utensils, cups, dry food storage and a full sized fridge with freezer. Please keep the area clean. We also offer morning Breakfast Basket options: Small basket $ - 2 Papayas, 6 bananas, 2 cups of coffee.  Large basket $ - 4 papayas, 10 bananas, morning coffee during your stay.  Please keep in mind the fruit may vary depending on what is ripe.  Coffee In order to preserve water we utilize clean non-smelling composting toilets. We also have 4 hot water showers, 2 sinks and vanity areas. Nice surroundings, quiet and felt secure. Code for entry was wrong so probably need to update that. We were able to get it from the fruit stand before close. But if we arrived later not sure what we'd do. Overall great experience.

Lovely and peaceful spot! Unfortunately we couldn’t make it before dark so had a hard time navigating to the place and within the grounds. But once we got settled we were amazed by the Milky Way view - best stars I’ve seen in a long time! The sheep gave us a very friendly greeting & we thoroughly enjoyed the fruit stand offerings. Def recommend it for a basic and peaceful camping experience!

We had an unforgettable time at Waipi’o Valley at Jo’el’s campsite. Hiking down into the valley felt like we were going to a different time. Being greeted by a family of wild horses before camp was so lucky. Jo’el was super welcoming, easy going, fun, very knowledgeable about the valley, its sacred traditions, and culture. We appreciated harvesting fruit for us, dipping in rivers, smelling flowers and his hospitality. While being creative and impromptu, he was also on point and adaptable to our specific needs, giving sound advice about hiking to Waimanu. Be prepared for a rugged, but enchanting experience. We were all enamored and inspired with your vitality and character, Jo’el. Thank you for welcoming us into your world and reminding us that living simply and humbly is beautiful. This place is pure magic. It is peaceful, beautiful and full of delicious fruit. Jo'el is such a kind and welcoming host and his passion for the valley shows through everything his says and does, he really made us feel at home. The river, the beach, the valley and the trail, 2 nights was just not enough! One important detail is that even if you opt to have your car taken down the road there is still a 1 mile walk and river crossing to get to the camp itself. Totally worth it...just pack accordingly.

Rose and Family were very nice and accommodating, making it very easy to find. It felt very safe and secure there. Her beautiful land and Fruit Stand were the real stars of the show!!! We woke to a deeply beautiful landscape with sheep roaming close by, who grazed pleasantly close to us during our breakfast; and afterwards we partook of her very tasty Fruit Stand!!! Definitely recommend both the chilled coconut and the fresh squeezed sugar-came and ginger juice!!!

Our crew loved Hamakua Nature Retreat. The host was beyond accommodating and responsive to our needs and requests. We particularly enjoyed having a covered spot to relax with the frequent rains that occurred during our trip. The outdoor show was hot on demand and offered a view of the sea! It was easy to find and well located for exploring the Hamakua coast yet felt secluded and wild. Would absolutely stay here again.
