We have a hidden exotic fruit orchard tucked away through rolling green hills, perched over the Hamakua cliffs, overlooking the pacific. We sell our fruits ripe and cut ready to eat at our roadside fruit stand, open 10-6 daily including holidays! We serve local fresh juices and machete open coconuts to drink ice cold. We grow mango, durian, lilikoi, star fruit, chocolate sapote, buddhas hand citrus, finger limes, tangerines and tangelos, jackfruit, tree grapes, mangosteen, white pineapples, mountain apples, berries, spices and much more. We are home to dozens of rescue animals, many who came from Puna during the 2018 lava flow. Meet peaceful sheep, lambs, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and a lovable pet pig. Not to mention our friendly farm cats. We are a community of a few passionate farmers and fruit lovers. Aloha and welcome to Silver Oak Sunsets, a 5 acre agriculture farm and family plot situated in the Kona Coffee Belt on the western slopes of Hualalai Mountain in Kona, Hawai'i. With great stargazing opportunities, the camping area where is located on the top two acres of the property at 2000ft elevation above sea level. This area is an open grassy (mowed) area surrounded with avocado, kukui nut and silver oak trees. This area boasts some of the best ocean, coastline, and sunset views in Kona! The bottom 3 acres are where my family and I reside. Conveniently located just 10 minutes from Kona International Airport, 15 minutes to the beach, 5 minutes to the nearest golf course, gas station, and grocery store, Silver Oak Sunsets campsite is secluded yet close to everything Kona. Our seasonal changes are mild compared to the continental US. Summer months (May-September) are warmer and with more rain and the winters (Nov-April) are cooler and drier with temperatures dipping to the low 50's. You and your family will have this campsite all to yourselves as Silver Oak Sunsets has just one campsite. Our family plot is located on the top acre in an area known fondly as Grandma's Garden. Our property is 65 acres with 50 acres of Macadamia Nut orchards and free roaming sheep and cows. The lower 15 acres consist of many different gardens, a green house (please do not enter), multiple Food Forests, 8 Cabanas, 2 classrooms 4 showers, 3 composting toilets and a kitchen with common area. Each cabana is screened in 360º with views, two bunkbeds (sleeps 4), air mattresses, (Bring your own Sleeping Bag/Pillows) shelves, clothes lines on outside and lockable doors. There is no electricity in the cabanas but there are power strips available in the common area. The common area consists of a large deck with picnic tables, Wifi access (pw: pickalltheweeds), power strips for charging electronics, canopies for when it rains, a 2-burner hotplate for cooking, pots, pans, plates, utensils, cups, dry food storage and a full sized fridge with freezer. Please keep the area clean. We also offer morning Breakfast Basket options: Small basket $ - 2 Papayas, 6 bananas, 2 cups of coffee. Large basket $ - 4 papayas, 10 bananas, morning coffee during your stay. Please keep in mind the fruit may vary depending on what is ripe. Coffee In order to preserve water we utilize clean non-smelling composting toilets. We also have 4 hot water showers, 2 sinks and vanity areas. Please keep showers to 5 min or less, Mahalo. If you come with a 4-wheel drive vehicle you are welcome to drive farther up on to the property and park closer to your cabana, just follow the Parking signs. We do not recommend you drive up with cars or low vehicles as the terrain is a bit rough, instead please park down in front in one of the parking spaces. Nice surroundings, quiet and felt secure. Code for entry was wrong so probably need to update that. We were able to get it from the fruit stand before close. But if we arrived later not sure what we'd do. Overall great experience.

Lovely and peaceful spot! Unfortunately we couldn’t make it before dark so had a hard time navigating to the place and within the grounds. But once we got settled we were amazed by the Milky Way view - best stars I’ve seen in a long time! The sheep gave us a very friendly greeting & we thoroughly enjoyed the fruit stand offerings. Def recommend it for a basic and peaceful camping experience!

There was plenty of room for my van, and it was flat at that. The cabin is quite serene, and is the perfect temperature for sleeping. The shower and restroom are near camp. This is the complete camp site!

Rose and Family were very nice and accommodating, making it very easy to find. It felt very safe and secure there. Her beautiful land and Fruit Stand were the real stars of the show!!! We woke to a deeply beautiful landscape with sheep roaming close by, who grazed pleasantly close to us during our breakfast; and afterwards we partook of her very tasty Fruit Stand!!! Definitely recommend both the chilled coconut and the fresh squeezed sugar-came and ginger juice!!!

Carrie was such an amazing host! With clear instructions to her beautiful location, we were able to find it with no issues. It was such a wonderful experience with my little Ohana, we enjoyed our dinner with the stars & nice fire pit keeping us warm. My kids said this was the best shower ever after a long day! (Esp with hot water) hehe The Cabin was a bonus, we are grateful to find this gem, you will definitely enjoy your peace in nature if that’s what you’re seeking! We only stayed here for a night, and it was a lovely experience. The hill is lush, quiet, and clean. We enjoyed saying hi to the neighbor's ponies! The location is close to the airport, a few gorgeous beaches, and shopping places. Carrie was so sweet and even got on a phone call and guided me to the property when I was having a hard time with directions. The shower was my favorite part! So relaxing 😌

Carrie has a fantastic spot! So ideal we booked it for several more nights right away. It’s close to Kona town and the airport, easy directions, plenty of space with nice green grass, great views, and awesome amenities - it was great to have the picnic table and fire. The outdoor shower is really nice - the bathroom is just a porta potty (which you can smell in the shower a bit), BUT it was fresh and clean, which counts for a lot! The A frame cabin is fabulous - super comfy and cozy, and no bugs got through the netting at all. All the little details at this place are super well thought out, and Carrie was generous and had excellent communication. 10/10 would stay again!

Favorite HipCamp on the big island. Carrie was extremely responsive to our questions, made us feel welcome and safe. Little cabin was perfect-clean-well cared for and comfortable. Watched sunsets laying in bed listening to the frogs and birds. Shower was a pleasure-hot water and a plenty of it in a nicely designed bamboo surrounding ceramic tile backing. Highest recommendation for this site. Aloha 😊

We loved staying on Carrie’s land! It was beautiful and convenient to Kona. She had so many nice touches that made our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. We had 4 in our group… 2 camped in a tent and we (2) stayed in the new cabin. The cabin was so cute and comfy! We slept so well. Carrie was very kind and accommodating and we would love to stay here again in the future.
