There is no electricity in the cabanas but there are power strips available in the common area.  The common area consists of a large deck with picnic tables, Wifi access (pw: pickalltheweeds), power strips for charging electronics, canopies for when it rains, a 2-burner hotplate for cooking, pots, pans, plates, utensils, cups, dry food storage and a full sized fridge with freezer. Please keep the area clean. We also offer morning Breakfast Basket options: Small basket $ - 2 Papayas, 6 bananas, 2 cups of coffee.  Large basket $ - 4 papayas, 10 bananas, morning coffee during your stay.  Please keep in mind the fruit may vary depending on what is ripe.  Coffee In order to preserve water we utilize clean non-smelling composting toilets. We also have 4 hot water showers, 2 sinks and vanity areas. Please keep showers to 5 min or less, Mahalo.  If you come with a 4-wheel drive vehicle you are welcome to drive farther up on to the property and park closer to your cabana, just follow the Parking signs. Learn more about this land: Aloha!  Mahalo, for your interest in visiting Big Island Farms located half way between the Historic Town of Honoka'a and the beautiful Waipi'o Valley. We are a permaculture based farm that hosts students from all over the world  interested in learning more about sustainability, permaculture farming, Hawaiian culture and much more.  During our off season, we open up the farm for you to visit and enjoy the beautiful Aina (land) and facilities.  Your stay with us could vary, from relaxing and reading a good book on one of our many decks or hiking through our upper orchards to find the on property waterfall that runs most of the year.   Our property is 65 acres with 50 acres of Macadamia Nut orchards and free roaming sheep and cows.  The lower 15 acres consist of many different gardens, a green house (please do not enter), multiple Food Forests, 8 Cabanas, 2 classrooms 4 showers, 3 composting toilets and a kitchen with common area.  Each cabana is screened in 360º with views, two bunkbeds (sleeps 4), air mattresses, (Bring your own Sleeping Bag/Pillows) shelves, clothes lines on outside and lockable doors. There is no electricity in the cabanas but there are power strips available in the common area.  The common area consists of a large deck with picnic tables, Wifi access (pw: pickalltheweeds), power strips for charging electronics, canopies for when it rains, a 2-burner hotplate for cooking, pots, pans, plates, utensils, cups, dry food storage and a full sized fridge with freezer. Please keep the area clean. We also offer morning Breakfast Basket options: Small basket $ - 2 Papayas, 6 bananas, 2 cups of coffee.  Large basket $ - 4 papayas, 10 bananas, morning coffee during your stay.  Please keep in mind the fruit may vary depending on what is ripe.  Coffee In order to preserve water we utilize clean non-smelling composting toilets. We also have 4 hot water showers, 2 sinks and vanity areas. Please keep showers to 5 min or less, Mahalo.  If you come with a 4-wheel drive vehicle you are welcome to drive farther up on to the property and park closer to your cabana, just follow the Parking signs. We do not recommend you drive up with cars or low vehicles as the terrain is a bit rough, instead please park down in front in one of the parking spaces.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate to send us a message! Weekend Trip to Sunrise Cabanas Panoramic Views

This was our second early-December stay here. The property is in an excellent location above Naalehu, is easy to find, and has spectacular views of the surrounding hillside and ocean. Brian, the onsite manager, was responsive and friendly, and made us feel welcome. The cabins are cute and clean, and the crickets and coqui frogs serenaded us to sleep. The outdoor shower is private and clean, and has plenty of hot water. This is a simple little gem of a place, and we would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at Chris and Esther’s place! It was the perfect location—so close to Volcanoes National Park—and incredibly peaceful. Falling asleep to the sound of frogs at night was a unique experience for me. The space had everything we needed for a comfortable night’s sleep--we wish we’d had more time to stay longer. I loved that they gave us duck food so we could feed the ducks when we woke up. Their directions were clear, communication was easy, and everything felt welcoming and well thought-out.

We loved this location. So close to lots of the activities we had planned around Kona. Also not far from restaurants and a laundromat. The room was close to the parking area. We had a little decking where we could dry our swimwear. The room was nice and spacious so we could spread out our suitcases. Didn’t explore the farm much because it was raining but loved patting the cat that liked to sleep on the decking. The room also felt very private and the farm is behind a locked gate. Definitely recommend

Lodging was clean, well maintained, and had everything you could really ask for; full kitchen (including stove and oven), hot shower, ceiling fan above the bed, nice little deck out front. The location is fantastic, it's at the back of the farm so sitting on the deck looking out you have a nice view of the rainbow eucalyptus trees, palm patches, and meadows, and total privacy to enjoy a morning coffee in peace. Hosts were amazing, very friendly and welcoming. Oh and there's ducks and peafowl all over who are very friendly and will come up to you for food. My only issue was that I didn't stay longer.

We absolutely loved it! Great location, private, tropical setting. It is awesome to go to bed with the rainforest sounds in the background. Wel maintained and clean cottage. We loved the ducks coming over to say hello in the morning (and that goes double for our 8 year old.)without waking us up. And if you never had duck eggs before : they are delicious! Esther and Christopher are great host, friendly, patient and helpful.

We loved this luxury yurt, we wished we spend more time here. Everything is just so nice and lovely. They had an amazing bathroom with extreme pressurized shower, which my bf loved. They made us breakfast sandwiches with fresh papaya and coffee. You also get to pet 2 lovely dogs and a cat, with a very stunning views of the ocean by their pool! We were so spoiled! If you made it this far, book it!!!

We had the most amazing time at Vicky and Casey's Yurt. From the breakfast in the morning to the outdoor shower after being out all day. The welcome greeting from Casey and the friendly dogs started our stay off on the right foot. Everything was clean and tidy. We will definitely be back. Wish we could have stayed longer. Easy access to the volcano and beaches.

There are covered one rooms with bed and battery pack for low use charging and a light. There is an outdoor shower and portable potty. Brian (local) watches the place and is with intersting stories and island guide if you inquire. Great off the beaten path for travels on the south side with easy close access to 11 and around 30 minutes to south point and slightly further to the Kilauea. Great sunrise and view of volcanos in distance !!

If you’re reading this stop what you’re doing and just BOOK IT, you’ll thank me later! Not only was this the best glamping accommodation I’ve ever had, but on top of that Casey & Vicky provided a level of service you’d only expect from a five star resort. Not to mention it was at an incredibly affordable price. Their property is gorgeous, providing a high end ranch style feel with many animals on the property as well as high end accommodations and amenities making it a truly luxurious experience. Although the yurt and property was incredibly impressive, I have to say that Casey and the service he provided was probably the highlight of this stay. He was professional, personable, and incredibly helpful! He cooked an amazing breakfast each morning that was enjoyed on their patio/pool area with a view. He also provided great recommendations for things to do in the area and great conversation overall. I can’t say enough good things about Casey and the paradise he decides to share with his guests. An absolutely amazing stay overall! 11/10 experience that I would definitely do again

The Property is Amazing... Such a huge area with Beautiful Sunrise and you can see the Plume of the volcano. It is about a 40 minute drive to volcano national park.. The cabanas were clean and cute.. a definite hippy vibe... Shower is hot and bed was comfortable at butterfly pea... I wish I knew that they were not offering dinners there... I guess they are selling the food truck.. But the forage tour was so much fun!! Over all a Great Experience. Would come again... Mahalo 🌺

Wow what an amazing place Ester and Christopher have created! We are planning our next trip back already!!! Highly recommend anyone who is curious on off grid living with the essentials still there. Hot water and a wonderful compost toilet! And the Ducks omg so cute!!!! Peacocks and lil baby one too, we really looked forward to the early mornings with the birds!
