A SUV or jeep is an ideal choice when staying here as the last 500 feet (1 minute of drive time) of the drive is off-road and quite rocky. You will transverse your private entrance passing the Cassandra's (the host's) tiny house. When you arrive you will be greeted by the serene beauty of the jungle. While is isn't 100% private as the host lives next door, we can still promise a peaceful escape from the everyday world. We recommend stopping for snacks in Hilo or Keaau on the way up as those towns have more options than the sleepy Volcano Village.
Important Considerations Before Booking:
As luxurious and adventurous as Inn a Volcano is, staying in an off-grid volcano dome home in the Hawaiian jungle comes with expected 'challenges.' My goal is to give you an experience that combines Tarzan's hideout with a 5-star experience so lets get you prepped!

•The tap water comes from rain catchment. It is not potable (not for drinking.) We will provide drinking water.
2. Electricity
•We're solar-powered, so please conserve energy. High voltage items like hair dryers or irons are not provided. If you bring these and use them there is a chance that the power will shut off. Please shut off lights when you leave. The windows and a skylight allows ample natural light during the day.
3. Weather
•We are located on the rainy side of the Big Island so be prepared for wet weather. Enjoy the pitter patter of rain like a playlist. Let it relax you, and don't let it dampen your plans.
4. Wildlife
•Since we are in the jungle, don't be shocked if you see bugs and insects such as moths, fruit flies, and mosquitoes.

We had a great time here, especially enjoying the hot tub and campfires we made. With the loss of Isaac Hale campground there aren’t many options for public campgrounds anywhere nearby so this hipcamp was a great option for touring around the 2018 lava flows and Puna area beaches. The directions were easy to follow and the potholes in the access road easy enough to navigate in any car. Campsites flat but soil in this area is lava rock under the grass so tent pegs a bit hard to get in. Only one bathroom could be a problem at times but it worked out ok. We would recommend and return again.

Like the other reviews say, this is a great spot to camp. The yard is super well kept, flat site, full bathroom access. It poured while we were there which made the hot tub a nice treat. View of the waves crashing is amazing. It's quiet and peaceful. Host was happy to share his knowledge about the botanicals, fruit trees and land. Can pick ripe fruit and dogs are friendly.

GREAT STAY! Shawn is a great host, attentive & friendly! We loved having fresh coconut delivered everyday & the scenery was paradise! The location is great, central to lots of different sights to see! We explored the volcanoes, sea view was a really cool drive, Hilo nearby waterfalls. There was never a shortage of things to do! The nearby Sunday Maku’u market was HUGE!
This was such a nice place to come home to every night & enjoy a campfire & star gazing.

I can’t say enough about this little piece of heaven, it is absolutely stunning, breathtaking. Blaze and Shawn were very friendly and quick to answer any questions. The bathroom facilities were clean uncomfortable, better than expected when camping. The fruit trees are beautiful, no need to buy limes for our cocktails as they were growing beside us! They have several dogs who run the property and are friendly. Our first night there we saw whales and turtles off the cliffs! Beautiful pool, relaxing atmosphere, quiet, serene, MAGICAL❤️

Weekend Trip to Waterfront Paradise
Probably the most unique stay on our trip. Sitting in a van looking up at a clear night sky and the waves come in was bliss. Page was a great communicator throughout and we felt taken care. She met us at the agreed time and gave us a full walkthrough of the fan. She even provided extra charging cords when asked. The van itself is clean and as described. We really enjoyed it and would happily stay again.

Blaiz brother Sean is very accommodating We came in late he made sure to get a settled. He was accommodating to our little dogs.
Beautifully landscaped oceanfront with a saltwater pool in jacuzzi.
Clean, well kept. They also accommodated the fact that we had to reschedule due to business related circumstances.
The best hip camp I have ever stayed on.

The space as great! It had a wonderful view with very level and soft ground for our tents. The indoor bathroom was awesome. However my advice would be to bring your own water, it had a bit of a tangy taste was totally fine to drink. Highly, highly recommend!

My kids and I have been wanting to camp here for a while and finally had the chance to. Very accessible and easy to get to. Beautiful, well taken care of land. The pool and hot tub were an added bonus. Also, owner responded to messages quickly. Would definitely stay again. 10/10 recommend.

We really enjoyed this spot and it worked great for our travels around this side of the island. Having access to the pool/hot tub, flushing toilet/shower, and the amazing cliff side view made this a top notch spot for us. We stayed in our camper van which worked great for the area we were given. Loved the pups and their greeting each time. We didn't see much of other guests or the hosts which was fine by us. If you wanted to, I am sure you could engage more but we really just cooked dinner and slept at this spot and didn't spend much of our days there so not a lot of opportunity to interact. We didn't ever use the potable water on the site so can't comment on that and we didn't connect to the wifi. Otherwise, the only other comment is that our van did fine on the road in as long as we drove slow but a truck had slid off and gotten stuck one evening in the rain. So be sure to take it slow and stay on the middle of the road as much as possible I guess.

Stunning views! This unique seaside property provides plenty of open grass area for tent and RV camping. They have a hot tub and a pool offered for guest use. Ocean view point has been our favorite spot of the property, great for sun rise and sunset. There’s a clean bathroom and shower. The host was very friendly, everyone on the property were respectful to one another. We highly recommend this place!!

The views from the bluff were magical and we enjoyed using the pool and hot tub! This campsite has everything you need and more.
The host went above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and provided everything we needed to have a more comfortable and enjoyable experience!

Stock up on groceries because you will not want to leave this paradise. Shawn was so helpful and knowledgeable. The dogs were sweet and loved playing with the kids. There were tree swings, lime trees, fresh avocados, and the pool and hot tub were the most amazing perks! Swam every day! One bathroom shared between all campers, but it was clean and there are hot showers. Definitely a step up from how we normally camp. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Wild Blue Waters is a gem! The campsite was super clean and well-maintained. The host was incredibly kind and accommodating. They even checked our tents during a rainstorm while we were out exploring Hilo to make sure nothing was getting wet. That thoughtfulness and care meant so much to us!
The hot tub was absolutely beautiful and the perfect way to relax after long days of adventuring. Amazing place with genuine hospitality. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Gorgeous camping surrounded by fruit and avocado trees and the hot tub was so relaxing after a long day. The host was very generous and so nice. There are several dogs on the property but they are sweet and well-behaved.
