The Campsite: Our farm features a range of accommodations including a cozy Dome (1 Queen Size Bed), a charming Tiny Home (1 Full Size Bed), and ample space for Tent and Campervan camping- no RV's. Don't let your adventure stop at the national park! Come experience living in a luxurious volcano dome home where you will live in synergy with the natural exquisite surroundings. The cinder we used to build the whole dome comes from the local query produced from big island's natural volcanic features. We promise you'll lava it!

2 hours from Kona, we recommend flying into Hilo if you book the same day of your flight!
A SUV or jeep is an ideal choice when staying here as the last 500 feet (1 minute of drive time) of the drive is off-road and quite rocky. You will transverse your private entrance passing the Cassandra's (the host's) tiny house. When you arrive you will be greeted by the serene beauty of the jungle. While is isn't 100% private as the host lives next door, we can still promise a peaceful escape from the everyday world. We recommend stopping for snacks in Hilo or Keaau on the way up as those towns have more options than the sleepy Volcano Village.
Important Considerations Before Booking:
As luxurious and adventurous as Inn a Volcano is, staying in an off-grid volcano dome home in the Hawaiian jungle comes with expected 'challenges.' My goal is to give you an experience that combines Tarzan's hideout with a 5-star experience so lets get you prepped!
1. Water Source
•The tap water comes from rain catchment. It is not potable (not for drinking.) We will provide drinking water.
2. Electricity
•We're solar-powered, so please conserve energy. High voltage items like hair dryers or irons are not provided. If you bring these and use them there is a chance that the power will shut off. Please shut off lights when you leave. The windows and a skylight allows ample natural light during the day.
3. Weather
•We are located on the rainy side of the Big Island so be prepared for wet weather. Enjoy the pitter patter of rain like a playlist. Let it relax you, and don't let it dampen your plans.
4. Wildlife
•Since we are in the jungle, don't be shocked if you see bugs and insects such as moths, fruit flies, and mosquitoes.

My wife and I loved staying here! It definitely is a nature lover's paradise. Loved hearing the Coqui frogs at night <3 There is a hot shower, wifi, and open bathroom, along with a wonderful kitchen all ready for us to use. My wife especially loved the plants and view from the second floor balcony. the bed was super comfortable and the yoga room was super cool as well! I recommend for those who want to experience the nature of Big Island and have a get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Thank you Saige!

Weekend Trip to Tropical Treehouse w/ Ocean View
What a special place to stay with detailed textures and all the amenities one would need that made it feel unique and homie! The treehouse has an east facing view and we were lucky to experience a gorgeous sunrise. We washed our bottles in the sink, filled up thanks to the purified water jug, stored a few drinks in the mini fridge, washed off in the secluded outdoor shower and bathroom and lounged around the treehouse couch soaking up the views, all before cozying up in the comfy screened in bedroom for the night. For an off-grid oasis, the property was easy to find, conveniently located and inspiring to experience.
We stayed here on our way from Kona to Volcano National Park and hiked to the Mahama Beach (green sand) which was about 25 mins from the treehouse. Excellent tacos and a fantastic coffee shop were both about 10 mins away. A general store was also just under 10 mins away offering basic essentials only.
Since the place is in the forest, I would expect mosquitos at dawn and dusk (like anywhere in the islands) and an occasional critter friend like a lizard and the ever-present crowing of roosters. None of this bothered us and the natural bug spray provided smelled unbelievably good and was effective.
You won’t regret staying here but will regret having to leave. 10/10

Justine is the most warm and loving host, I can't say enough great things about my experience. Her property is so lush and inviting, the dome is a sanctuary of escape and her food is absolutely delicious! She taught me how to make pasta, crack open coconuts, as well as taught me all about her sustainable farm to table process. So many of her ingredients are grown right right on the property, it's a beautiful and sustainable way to live and experience Hawaii. I can't wait to return!

Justine’s property & Hipcamp site was amazing. The outdoor bathroom & showers were set up perfectly to have and off the grid experience yet feel completely comfortable with the facilities. Justine greeted us and checked on us daily. If you want amazing farm to table food this is the place justines breakfast was definitely one of the highlights. We absolutely loved the entire experience from start to finish.

Justine’s home was the perfect getaway for myself and Brittany. When we arrived we felt very welcomed, and had a cool experience of trying sugar cane chopped fresh in front of us from her land.
The yurt was very comfortable and spacious! We Slept great!
The coolest part of it all; was having Chef Justine cook us an amazing breakfast in the morning! It was a pleasure getting to know Justine, and she has started something very very cool. I highly recommend staying here. This was a perfect example of why we love hip camp vs hotels etc.

Justine is a goddess! So welcoming and friendly on arrival and the property is beautiful. The dome room is fantastic and everything about this place feels spiritual and like family. Justine made us an ingredible gormet breakfast (Justine is an accomplished cook) and we bonded with the other wonderful guests there. This is the type of place you can deepen your love for a partner, and Jusine also was excited to let my partner and I fire spin on the property under the stars.
The room is large and clean, plus Justine imports incredible top-notch coffee to help wake you up in the morning. This was my first hipcamp I ever did and it's hard to imagine any place more magical in terms of friendliness. We also had very deep wonderful long conversations with Justine and her other guests that made it hard to leave. I wish I could have stayed a week here!

Justine’s sanctuary is a truly magical place.
We stayed in the dome for 1 night and loved it! The sounds of nature were so beautiful at night,
we slept so well.
The dome is a space out of this world!
The host is so welcoming and kind-hearted. She let us pick some of her fruit and made sure that we are comfortable throughout our entire stay. Justine’s dog is ADORABLE, she gifted us so much love.
We highly recommend the sound bath sanctuary whether you’re travelling with a partner or solo and are in need of some space to create/write!
PS: Justine’s sourdough biscuits are the best in the world!!!

Where to go
Oahu
Oahu is the state's most-visited island. While many visitors head straight to Honolulu's sandy Waikiki Beach, the island offers plenty to experience outside the big city, with gorgeous beaches all over, plus tons of hiking trails. If you want to camp, you’ll find options at Ahupua'a 'O Kahana State Park and Bellows Field Beach Park, both on the island’s eastern shores.
The Big Island
The Big Island's size isn't its only claim to fame. It's also known for its tasty Kona coffee and for its abundance of volcanoes, including Kīlauea and Mauna Loa, both in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, one of four national parks on the island. There are also lots of places to camp on the island, including at the Kalōpā State Recreation Area and the Kīholo State Park Reserve (weekend camping only).
Maui and Molokai
Maui is well known for its large resorts and gorgeous scenery, especially in the emeraldine ʻĪao Valley State Monument and from Haleakalā National Park, the best place on the island for a sunrise hike. Reservable campsites can be found at both Wai'ānapanapa State Park and the Polipoli Spring State Recreation Area. The nearby island of Moloka'i is a quiet alternative, without the big development found on other islands. Camping is available in the island's Pālāʻau State Park.
Kauai
Dubbed the "Garden Isle" for its numerous gardens and overall lush landscapes, Kauai feels quieter and more laid-back than Maui or Oahu. Its best-known hiking areas include the pristine Nāpali Coast (only accessible by foot or boat) and the vibrantly hued Waimea Canyon State Park, often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." You can camp in the Nāpali Coast State Wilderness Park, provided you obtain a permit in advance, or in Kōke'e State Park and Polihale State Park.
When to go
Hawaii only has two real seasons: a hotter, dryer summer season (April–October) and a cooler, rainier winter (November–March). The resorts and tourist destinations across the islands are at their busiest during the summer and winter vacation months, and hotel and flight prices tend to soar during these periods. Late spring and early autumn are ideal for avoiding rainfall and crowds. Flights from the mainland are generally at their cheapest between January and March.
