Why buy a home when you can build a fairytale? Hi, I'm Curt. My wife Ani, son Fitch, and I are your average, everyday nonconformists who have been running an experiment. We are trying to figure out if a family can use their own hands and some grit to handcraft a life that you don't need a vacation from. Or better yet, that you would vacation to. Have we done that? You be the judge. About 4 years ago we left our South Florida handcrafting furniture business to pursue this new goal. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living that would find a harmony between some of the old fashioned world that we'd found ourselves missing, and the handful of modern advancements that were actually beneficial. All while keeping it classy. At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cabins, installing solar, composting, planting, and building toilets that are better for our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature. Ani and I are big believers in being mindful and respectful of our environment wherever reasonable. So, we are incorporating both alternative and municipal utilities as they can fit into our homestead design and limited budget. Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" small living can feel. We all have personal priorities and those will vary greatly, and that's okay. But no person should be so self-absorbed that we have completely shut out the importance of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our fellowman. After all, if we don't have that, what do we have? To be completely transparent, though, the creatives in us also would like it if we inspired onlookers to possibly look at their own space and life a little bit differently. We've personally found it to be so fulfilling to distinguish real desires and needs from the ones we've been groomed to pursue, and then work to make them a reality. We've found it energizing to witness our fellowmen and women pursuing a dream. We'd like to be a stimulating memory along any person's journey. Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, and that they can appreciate some of our old-fashioned ways. That, as our paths cross, we won't be held to a business-first standard that we have worked hard to remove ourselves from. We realize everyone has a right to be themselves, but our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm.

Excellent host and very nice campground. The pull through site is very accommodating with full hookups and the route to the site is big rig friendly. The host, Will, is accommodating and very friendly. I would absolutely recommend this site and if we travel through south carolina again, we will definitely be staying here!

Great host! Durand helped me back into position at the site. Site is landscaped, neat, clean and peaceful. Friendly horses! Bring some carrots and apples for them and you’ll have two new friends. Entire farm is picture perfect, clean, organized, landscaped. Great night sky to see the stars around the fire pit.

This was our 2nd time there and Durand met us as we arrived and assisted my backing into the spot. This place is a working farm and it's neat, clean, landscaped, and scenic. Our site was ready when we got there and we loved the horses (bring carrots and apples), loved the peace and quiet, and the night sky. We will be back!

Curt’s property was perfect for my needs. He was very accommodating in showing me around and making me feel welcomed! I had a rooftop tent and a my dog Salem. The site was perfect for Salem and level for the car. I would highly recommend this location especially if you are interested in traveling to Savannah which is only about a 30 min drive.

Will helped us out in a pinch, when another Hipcamper host canceled 45 minutes before our arrival. We are so grateful to him! Impressive property. Flat pull through, clean grounds; water/electricity/septic all work as they should. No trees to shade RV, but that did not affect our October stay. Lots of dew in the morning. We were the only campers there. Peaceful, though could hear planes & cars in the distance. Our 3 little dogs were able to be off leash (they never go far from us & we always clean up after them). Though there is WiFi, it did not come in well for us - could be our setup. Less than an hour from Bluffton & Beaufort. Area cuisine is seafood scrumptious. We would definitely revisit. Will has a very nice set up for RVs to comfortably stay overnight. Most, if not all, of the sites have full hookups and can be driven around to pull straight into if you don’t want to back in to your site. He gives you the option to buy fresh eggs from his chickens as well. He was very friendly: a very interesting person and an amazing craftsman. He lives at the site. The area was nice and quiet at night. The driveway was easy to find with his good directions and was easy to pull into. The town of Ridgeland has a nice selection of places to eat and shop. Will’s site wasn’t far from I-95. We’d choose this location again the next time we travel up I-95 with our RV.

I loved car camping at Curt's place! He was friendly and showed me the ropes upon arriving. Loved the way he set up his and his family's living arrangements! He was so kind and let me borrow a fan for the night since it was going to be hot. Life saver!! Great spot for camping! I didn't use the fireplace but it was available if needed. Private but not far from things, I loved staying here and would stay again any day!!
