Moon In The Pond Farm
4 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents35 acres · Sheffield, MAMoon In The Pond is a small farm nestled on a quiet and picturesque dirt road in the southern Berkshire hills in Sheffield, Massachusetts. Raising food naturally and sharing the experience has been a strong and growing commitment throughout the farm’s 30+ year history. Through production and education Moon In The Pond maintains a strong focus on the elegant integration of historic and modern technology. The farm is situated on preserved land that is surrounded by thousands of acres of wild, conserved land (in part owned by The Nature Conservancy). Our 'campsites' are located in quieter areas of the farm. One is near the pond, the other under the trees on the edge of our vegetable garden field, During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's serenely quiet and lusciously dark. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars. During the week is the absolute best time--all campsites are reduced rates and local hot spots or cooling down spots are much quieter. If you can, take advantage of that by adding a Friday or Monday to a weekend stay. Farm to table! Never so close!! Bring your cooking gear and get some fresh organic food--veggies, chops, steaks, or sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a treat! Near here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail and several offshoots). From the farm, there is even an easy trail (on land of The Nature Conservancy) that winds through woods around rock ledges and through wetlands (on a 600' long boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam. Also in the neighborhood are canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, off-road, dirt-road and country-road biking, snowshoeing, cc skiing and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. As an alternative cultural mecca there are numerous other entertainment opportunities from fine dining to yoga, art, dance and music. It's still amazingly quiet and the Milky Way is clearly visible. Participation in farm activities can be arranged, as well as organic home cooked farm meals (not available Fridays or Saturdays). (Meals are at additional cost!)
