Dirt Road Conditions – The road is maintained by San Juan County Road Department. During the summer months the road is easy to travel. Winter Guests, December through February AWD or 4WD is required because of snow. November and March weather varies so always check in about road conditions. We do recommend having a good spare tire in your vehicle and if you plan on touring the canyon and high ground clearance is strongly recommended. Weather – Blanding Utah mirrors our weather and temperatures better than Monticello Utah. Monticello is a lot higher in elevation than the ranch and usually 10-15 degrees cooler than the ranch. The sheep camp is peaceful and a truly special camping experience with basic necessities provided. The sheep camp is small, but cozy. The outer dimensions are 12 foot long by 6-1/2 feet wide giving you 78sq. ft. of living space inside. Because of this, the bed is shorter than normal. Bed dimensions are 58" wide by 72" long. The sheep camp does not have power, but we do provide propane and solar lanterns for lighting. The sheep camp does have a separate private bathroom with a hot shower, toilet, and sink. We provide towels. Potable drinking water is available at the sheep camp in the bathroom and at an outdoor faucet. The sheep camp has a propane grill for cooking. We provide propane and basic food prep and cooking supplies. The primary heat source is a wood burning stove, we provide free firewood to heat the sheep camp. We also provide small propane heaters for your convenience. The coffee maker is a stove top percolator that can be used on the grill, and we provide coffee and sugar. We also provide a French press. The sheep camp does not have laundry facilities. Summer Guests - The sheep camp does not have air conditioning, but we have fresh canyon air and nice cross breezes. Specifically, July and August guests, we are in the desert, and it can get quite warm. If you like it hot, then we have the place for you. Outdoor Fire Pit - Please bring your own firewood to use the fire pit. We have firewood bundles available for purchase at the Montezuma Market for your convenience. Check-in is 4:00p.m. and check-out is 11:00a.m. We ask you to be prompt when checking out. We have a short window to prep for the next guests before their check-in time. Smoking is not allowed inside of the sheep camp. If you choose to smoke outside, please pick up after yourself and be conscious of fire danger and keep the yard and outdoor areas clean and litter free. We do not allow pets. Can hike to the top of the mountain and view Lake Vallecito (45 min hike) deer are usually plentiful and other wildlife as well.

While the bottom of the mountain is quite populated now, up where we are is still comparatively much less populated. We wanted a log cabin in the mountains and we believe we achieved it. First floor: 1 bedroom twin over full bunkbed, full bath, mud room, laundry room, large living room; second floor: 2 bedrooms w/queen beds, full bath, kitchen w/island and pantry, dining room, living room. Third floor: 2 bedrooms w/queen beds, full bath, loft area w/futon. Two full decks w/tables and chairs & umbrellas and great views of valley below. Covered walkway w/gas grill. Parking for 3 or 4 vehicles at rear of cabin. Wifi throughout. Satellite tv (direct tv) on 1st and 2nd floors. Lots of pine trees surrounding the cabin. Can hike to the top of the mountain and view Lake Vallecito (45 min hike) deer are usually plentiful and other wildlife as well.

This was my favorite campground and campsite for my cross country trip. I would have stayed several days had my schedule permitted it. I was on site 109 and it was such a great spot for stargazing! Loved having the picnic table, fire ring, water and electrical hookup! Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful surroundings. Host was very well organized for my late arrival, and very helpful when I needed assistance. Love this place!

I had a great time with my son here for a few days. We used it as a home base and spent most of our time exploring the area. The front office was very accommodating which I thought was very nice. Beautiful! Staff was very nice. We had a beautiful riverside cabin. The river was raging when we arrived due to days of downpours. I was concerned about potential flooding. While it was not near flood level, they kindly and quickly moved us to a cabin several hundred feet from the river bank.

I stayed in the basic cabin (ie, the fancy shed). It was perfect, one queen bed, two twin bunks, ac, heat, ceiling fan and a light. The sites are a little close together but I was not spending the summer so not a big deal, I was there to sleep after spending the day at mesa verde. The grounds and restroom/shower was very neat and clean. I would definitely stay again. There is definitely road noise but as you can see from the posting, they are next to a major road. It was not a big deal in the cabin as I had windows closed as the temps were pretty cool.

Very private tent site, incredible view of Cortez and the mountains in the distance. Nice for stargazing too. The tent sites were so private no one would know you were there. Nice rustic cg. The facilities were clean and maintained. Every possible kitchen appliance was available for your use. As a tent camper the elephant in the room was the road noise. I understand that's not something the owner can control but for some it could be a deal breaker - generally I was so tired from hiking it did not matter.

This was a great campground and what made it great was the fact that the sites were spaced nicely. Check-in was easy. People were friendly the restrooms and the showers were clean and maintained. Garbage area was tidy. The place was super quiet at night. Loved the ability to have hook ups, on site laundry (the laundry room was clean and well maintained). The pricing was reasonable for loads of laundry and drying. We had a 20 foot camper van, but there were some very big rigs in there that had no trouble getting around. It was a super short drive just west of Durango, which we really liked! We really enjoyed the stay here and will definitely be back again when we come back to Durango.

Weekend Trip to Durango RV Resort

We were traveling in a truck camper and booked a tent site, thinking we could just park the truck in the parking space that comes with the tent site. They said we needed an RV site and graciously switched us right away. The campground setup is really nice with lots of trees. It has some nice amenities including a heated swimming pool! The staff is so friendly and we lucked out because they were offering a free full breakfast while we were there. All in all, it is a very nice campground and we would definitely go back.

Camping at Durango HTR was a great experience in Mid September camping. My site was just right as far as privacy and sun- shade mix. Also the shower was really nice as well as on-site laundry, and rhe on-site store had ice and other things. I would definitely stay there again. Oh, and the management was super friendly and helpful! I'll add that my dogs loved it there!

This camp was INCREDIBLE!! Clean… soooo many wonderful amenities! After two weeks of camping, hiking, etc… the lovely flush bathrooms and the free hot, wonderful showers were awesome! The best part??… THE HOSTS! Betty & Albert could not be more helpful, friendly, and accommodating! They keep that camp spotless! I can’t say enough good things about RAMBLE!! It’s also just a short drive from Mesa Verde… very pet friendly… and quiet!
