Nestled among picturesque peaks, there is no shortage of lovely sights when you stay in our campsites & cabins. Every season is equally lovely. From snow-capped peaks in the winter to bright gold aspen leaves in the fall, you’ll never be left wanting when it comes to picture-perfect surroundings.
We are just minutes from Monarch Mountain, which boasts 800 ski-able acres and an annual average snowfall of over 350 inches. Just a short drive east of our cabins is Salida, Colorado known as the ‘Gem of the Rockies’. This small but vibrant town offers a number of restaurants and shops as well as festivals and events throughout the year.
New for 2023
Creekside Chalets has added 3 Creekside Camping spots all with access to the North Fork of the South Arkansas creek that flows through the property. The sites are located in an aspen grove along the creek with a picnic table provided and room to park one vehicle up to 20 feet long and space for a tent. 30 amp power is provided to each site, a porta-potty within 250 feet and water from a camp spigot. The campsites are pet friendly, $30 per pet per stay, max 2 pets.

High up in the San Luis Valley, the Colorado Sports Ranch and Refuge occupies over 200 acres. Joyful Journey Hot Springs is 10 minutes away, and Great Sand Dunes National Park is visible from the property.
The property includes a small garlic farm (High Desert Garlic) with garlic products for sale in season.
The ranch is uniquely suited to athletes and other fitness enthusiasts with a 5k running/walking trail and a well stocked indoor/outdoor gym with kettlebells, TRX equipment, squat and bench racks, plyo boxes, bands, rowing and cycling machines, basketball hoop, and all manner of agility equipment. Gym cost is $10 per person or $25 for a group of four. Gym users must sign a liability waiver.
The camping area is about 1/4 mile from the main house and about 300 meters from the rest room and potable water.
The highest concentration of 14,000 foot peaks in Colorado is in this area with trail heads in nearby Crestone. Rock climbers and rock hounds will enjoy Penitente Canyon about 40 minutes west. White water rafting and all manner of paddling are available on the Arkansas River in nearby Salida, as is access to some of the finest mountain biking in the world, particularly the Monarch Crest Trail.
World class fly fishing can be found on the Arkansas River, and Blue Mesa Reservoir is home to all varieties of trout, pike, and kokanee salmon. We are happy to arrange tours with local guides and adventure providers.
The Colorado Sports Ranch and Refugee is a working, off-grid, sustainable homestead. Horses, goats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, dogs, cats, and a donkey all share the property. Animal tours are available.

Nestled amongst Aspen, located on the banks of a gurgling mountain stream. WiFi access, and plenty of space to spread out. Room for multiple tents and parking. It’s more private and spacious than Angel of Shivano camp ground a few miles up the road. Good place to settle in.

Lovely shaded campsite right on a creek. Private with a cool log wall between sites. Not too buggy but bring your bug spray. Very clean porta potty.

We loved this campsite for its layout and features: trees perfectly spaced for hammocks, good shade, beautiful creek flowing right through, good privacy and separation. The road noise is a factor though, especially with many cars honking at the house right next to the site. Ultimately, I’d stay here again, but wouldn’t recommend it for light sleepers.

First time camping, and I’d like to say it’s a really good spot for first time campers. With the restrooms and water really close by, everything was nice. The staff was really helpful and friendly, if you’re looking for a spot to camp for the first time this is the spot.
