There are several locations around Williams Rock to camp, open cave areas, with a 5 acre lake to tool around on if you have brought a kayak or small boat. The gates will be open to Williams Rock Area by noon of your arrival. It's primitive camping, so find your own "spot" on the property, respect the privacy of others at their "spots". First come first serve on each spot. The camp spots are not graveled, leveled, etc.. just the bare earth. The majority of this property is the woods, open fields, rough terrain, etc. So you will experience all Nature has to offer. Things like poison ivy, seed ticks, chiggers, ants, spiders, snakes, wildlife...Always check with the host on the app before arrival. Arriving when it gets dark will mean you will be setting up in the dark unless you have brought lanterns. If you've booked a site, the gate will be open for you, but you will be on your own. The camp host from April 27 - July 1st is on call for guests needs, but is not on site. Checkout time is by Noon. Check in is at 2:00 pm. This was our first hip camp experience and it was fantastic! We stayed at camp 6 and loved it. The stream being so close you can hear it all night which made for great sleep. We enjoyed our campsite and loved watching the cows graze. Absolutely beautiful area and the host even brought us down an umbrella for our table.

This place was/is perfect for primitive camping. During my time there, it was exactly what I was looking for and needed. Though it was just a bit colder than what I was expecting temperature-wise, it wasn't a deal breaker at all. IF you are looking for a place to primitive camp and enjoy winter camping especially, you need to check this place out. This is one of the most magical places I have ever stayed. I was there in my camper for a week, with my two dogs. So quiet and peaceful, lots to explore and the spring fed creek was perfect for cold plunges. Walter was very helpful and easy to get ahold of. I can’t recommend Valley of Peace enough.
