Sleepy Bear cabin was built as a retreat for my father here in Alaska. Our 1st year listed on Hipcamp our cabin came in second in best places to stay in Alaska with Hipcamp. The last 2 years we were still mentioned in the top 10 with some pretty stiff competition.
Eagle River South Fork trail with stunning views of Eagle and Symphony lakes is a short bike ride away.
Breathtaking Barbara Falls is in our valley 10mins away. You hike up to the falls and feels its breath.
Our Mountain views at 2000' elevation in the alpine forest with the 7000' snow covered peaks at the back of the valley will awe you.

Hope is home to about 200 year-round residents and boasts some of the rowdiest white water rafting (5+ rapids on 6-Mile Creek), the most scenic hiking, and the best trail/mountain bike riding in the state. If you're a foodie, cruise 2.5 miles into "town" for a bite at one of 4 locally owned restaurants or a coffee at one of the coffee shops. Enjoy live music every summer weekend at one of 3 different music venues.
Hope does not have a gas station, so please plan ahead and fuel up in Girdwood, Cooper Landing, or Seward before heading to town. There is a small market here, so if you forget an essential, you'll be able to purchase ice, water, beer, snacks, etc. Here in town.

This historic old lodge " The Crown Point Lodge", was once a popular stop that offered meals, lodging, movie rentals and all the essentials but also was a moose rescue. It since has been converted to a residence and upstairs rental. Kenai lake access is 1 mile away down trail River Road (picture is of the lake shore that's accessible). Russian river is about a 25 minute drive north off the Sterling. Seward is the other direction about the same distance. Moose Pass is 5 miles away with a convenience store. Lots of great fishing in the area and this location is ideal being it is central. There are lots of hiking trails close by. We are not located in any town, but rather the Crown Point community.

This is such a cool property! The cabin was cozy and warm on some very cold nights. It’s a short walk from parking and to the lake super convenient location to truly experience this part of Alaska, hole still being a short drive (across a frozen lake!) from the small town of Big Lake and about 30 min from Wasilla for restaurants, groceries, and some incredible local breweries and pizza! Amelya and her family are super welcoming and have carved out an incredible place here. While it is hard off the grid, they’ve maintained a very homey, familial feeling that’s something you can’t just manufacture. The scenery is beautiful and the Northern Lights made an appearance. Amelya and her husband Wyatt (and even their two cool sons) were super responsive and just a short walk away, willing to help out with any needs during the stay and great suggestions for activities and food. We were even included in a NYE celebration bonfire on the lake! Can’t wait to return to Alaska and will definitely be staying here if available!!!

It was a nice place. Very quiet and relaxing. The view from the deck was perfect. The only thing I’d recommend is maybe adding a sign or something similar at the end of the driveway so it stands out a bit. It took me a few minutes to find it.

We loved the cozy cabin, the wood fired cook stove, the beautiful river right next to it, and all of the very helpful kind staff, would stay there again and again if we could! Sauna was an especially nice feature after rafting six mile river. No running water or working stove other than wood fired one, be ready to go back in time a bit, but everything you need is just over the bridge at the main cafe building

I will be forever dreaming about our next stay at the Nauru Otter Yurt Village. My husband multiple times during our stay kept saying I can’t wait until we can come back and stay here longer. Weekend Trip to Darell B.’s Magical Mountain
We were absolutely thrilled with Darell’s cabin. It was so cute and cozy with everything needed to make for a comfortable stay. It has a great view and the hosts are incredibly accommodating. They allowed us to use their personal grill when we arrived because the city had a burn ban put into effect the day we arrived and we couldn’t cook over the fire pit. They also allow dogs and even put a towel to dry our lab off with before we brought her inside. We will definitely be returning in the future.

The Lumberjack Shack was a great stay! Clean, surprisingly roomy, and very adorably Alaskan. Nauti Otter staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The shared spaces (kitchen, bathrooms, living room) were also spotless. Highly recommend for a stay in Steward!

Lulu’s is an absolutely beautiful location! Sitting right on the Knik River with Mountain View’s all around. The land feels magical. So relaxing and renewed my energy. Whether camping in the meadow or one of the beautiful glamping tents Lulu’s is an experience one won’t forget. Laura is an amazing host.

Great property with great views. Hard to beat being right on the river. Close to some goods hikes as well. Property is very well equipped. BBQ, pots, pans, utensils, coffee machine, hot water, shower, and clean toilets. You can also "rent" a solo stove for campfires. I say rent but it comes with a bundle of wood and starters so it's basically free. Host Lulu was quick with communication and very helpful with anything we needed. She even let us barrow a few things during our stay. Would definitely recommend staying at this awesome property.
