We offer spaces with tables and fire rings. There is also an "Open Camping Area" in back that larger groups may like. Although a number may be assigned at booking, just pick the best available camp space that works for you on arrivial. You'll need to bring your own water and keep a clean camp.
Pinochle Trail goes north into the backcountry for around 12 miles and joins other trails.
Pinochle trail is a section of the ancient Knik - Nelchina Trail used by natives, trappers, miners and hunters for eons. It traverses the natural route from the Matanuska Valley up and over the mountain range into Copper River country.
Hicks was one of the early guides who had a cabin at Hicks Creek and served with U.S. Army Lieutenant Joseph Castner to brushwack a trail northwest for Captain Glenn in 1898. Described in his journal as at "Tale of Hardship and Suffering" they ended up eating their mules and shoes before reaching their goal far to the north. Today we use these trails with relative ease compared to the old timers but the scenery and mud holes remind us of what they went through.

They have wonderful add ons for the stay including firewood and a s’mores kit to have the best weekend. Their camper is clean and efficient for all of your needs. This place is *spotless* - I didn’t see any micro trash. Bathrooms are sparkling. Shower is probably the cleanest camp shower I’ve ever seen (and the water is HOT, with fresh towels provided daily). My site has some mild road noise during the day but it was not bothersome at night at all. Firewood is inexpensive and easy to get from the shed. Host is very communicative. Definitely enjoyed my stay here.

We had a great time! It was a much needed relaxed night. The hosts were communicating well and allowed us to check in early even though we ended up not needing to, because we kept stopping for photos on our trip. This place had great hot water and amenities! Would def stay here again.

Stump Creek was a great little find. Joe and Megan were so welcoming, stopping by to say hello and chat. The bathroom and shower areas were pristine, the view was amazing, and this is a great place to stay when in Alaska. It's just over an hour to Wrangell-St. Elias NP and 30 minutes from Lake Louise. Great property with great views. Hard to beat being right on the river. Close to some goods hikes as well. Property is very well equipped. BBQ, pots, pans, utensils, coffee machine, hot water, shower, and clean toilets. You can also "rent" a solo stove for campfires. I say rent but it comes with a bundle of wood and starters so it's basically free. Host Lulu was quick with communication and very helpful with anything we needed. She even let us barrow a few things during our stay. Would definitely recommend staying at this awesome property.

A nice open spot, tucked away in between quite a few lakes. Not very difficult to find if you're not from the area. The hosts were more than accommodating, and were very responsive to any questions we had. The outhouse and access to well water was an added convenience. You can tent camp, which we did, or rent one of their campers on the premises. If you want an easy time, and your choice of a lake on a sunny day check this spot out!

We had a wonderful experience at this peaceful lakeside campsite. The setting is serene and scenic — ideal for a relaxing getaway. What truly stood out was the hospitality of the hosts. They were warm, communicative, and genuinely invested in making sure our stay was comfortable. From the moment we arrived, they offered assistance, answered questions, and provided thoughtful touches that made the experience feel both personal and welcoming.
We chose to set up our own tent rather than stay in one of the on-site rental tents, and the space was perfect — flat, clean, and easy to access. We also purchased firewood on-site for only $7, and the hosts went the extra mile by including a fire starter, lighter, and materials to help get the fire going quickly and easily. Those small details made a big difference.
The campsite was well-maintained and equipped with everything we needed. Their dog, Nugget, added a fun and friendly presence — well-behaved and full of personality.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a well-hosted, scenic retreat with outstanding service and attention to detail. We look forward to returning and getting a chance to stay in one of their own tent for that experience! ^.^>
