My wife and I often travel to watch our niece and nephew play collegiate softball and football. We sometimes end up at inconvenient campsites to the campuses, lack full hookups, and feel more like a chore than a getaway. However, this campsite, "The Stump’s Country Camping," was a delightful exception. It was located just 7 miles from the softball and football fields at Troy University.
The site was nestled on 3 acres and featured a charming 1910 farmhouse in the distance. It included electricity, water, sewer, level ground, and a cement patio that allowed us to step directly out of our RV. Additionally, there was a shade tree, and the site's positioning kept it out of direct sunlight, making it pleasantly cool for us and our four-legged children.
Ethel, the owner, was incredibly kind. She greeted us when we arrived, showed us where to park, and explained how to exit the property. She also encouraged us to call if we needed anything, which helped us feel comfortable, safe, and independent—much better than the crowded commercial campgrounds we've experienced, which are inconvenient to the campuses, don't have full hookups, and feel like work. This place has it all and more.

This site is perfectly serene! If you are in Troy AL for a sporting event at the college or just passing through you will LOVE this location! The site pad is perfectly level with full hookups and positioned under a beautiful shade tree. A concrete pad helps keep your camper free of debris and offers a perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying your quiet surroundings. The beautiful level grassy area that surrounds the site offers a perfect set-up for your 4-legged campers. Ethel is a great host! She is quick to communicate, with easy directions and points of interest for you to explore. This Hipcamp location has all the bells and whistles less the hoopla of a large campground. We loved it so much that we are going back next month. Do yourself a favor and add an extra day so you have time to truly enjoy this incredible site.

Lynda is a sweetheart! She was super hospitable, answered all of our questions, and has lovely energy. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and dog-friendly. The full hook-up was much appreciated, too. If we’re ever back in the area, we’d be happy to stay here again!
