Heart of the Country is our home and also your own personal twelve acre state park whenever you stay with us!
We are less than 15 minutes from Interstate 10 and from Interstate 65.
I offer a half-dozen campsites, all either on a relatively level paved driveway or grass. Power (20 amp and 30 amp) and water is available. We have two 30 amp campsites, which are first come, first served.
WIFI is available! (please ask for password).
We have a portable toilet (portable-potty) for your use.
This is a Longleaf Pine sanctuary with lots of nature trails.
This is also a hobby farm with livestock (two Donkeys, two Goats and a flock of Chickens). I feed the livestock grain every morning usually between 8 and 9 am, and again hay before dusk. You are always welcome to join me and I'll introduce all of them to you!
My dog, Homer, is our very friendly welcoming ambassador who will enthusiastically great you upon your arrival. I put him up in his kennel each evening around dusk, then lock him in his shed until morning which keeps him from barking during the night.
We also host three AirBnBs, so other guests may be here as well.
Texting via the app is our preferred mode of communication. If you call, please leave a message if I can't answer, and I will call you back.
We are slowly updating the site photos. Use them only to determine your price, for example: A site with 30 amp power and water is $25 per night. A site with 20 amp power and water is $20 per night. A boondocking site (no power) is $15 per night. All sites have access to a porta-potty and water.

History of our location Count De Galvez awarded a land grant on Garcon Point to Antonio Garzon following his 1781 Siege of Pensacola in consideration of “his good services rendered as an interpreter to the Indians of Pensacola." The grant was held for 35 years before Maria Garzon, who survived husband Antonio, sold the land they called Garzon’s Point to Joseph (Jose) Bonifay.
The land uses were favorable for cattle grazing and turpentining through the 1800s. Many more pioneer families moved into the area and began their own business in the booming industrial opportunities of western Florida. It came to be known as Yellow River Marsh State Buffer Preserve on June 12, 2000, when it was purchased by the state of Florida to protect rare and environmentally sensitive lands, plants and animals.
Through generous donations, Preservation 2000 and the Florida Forever Program, more land was added to protect contiguous habitat of the Garcon Ecosystem.
Today Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park provides recreational opportunities for hiking and nature study along the Great Florida Birding Trail among rare and endemic plant species and within one of Florida’s oldest multi-cultural frontiers.The preserve is located in Santa Rosa County on Garcon Point, which separates Escambia Bay from Blackwater Bay.
Nearly 20 rare and endangered species of plants 🪴 and animals make their homes along the bay and its wet prairies, dome swamps and flatwoods.

We had a great time at this location. But to be honest we were just sleeping here.
There are some things that might not make it so for others. It is very close to a busy highway, which is very noisy.
While there is a NICE bathhouse, there was no hot water. And there were no window coverings on the double French doors that served as the entrance. It faced a driveway so there was traffic going up and down. So basically you were exposed.
The owner has a wonderful big dog. Sweet as sugar but when the dog came running at me full tilt it was a little unnerving. She was not under her owners control. Plus I had my two smaller dogs on leashes and I was actually afraid of what they might do to the bigger dog.
I asked if he might put his dog up which he wasn’t willing to do.
All that being said it served its purpose

We absolutely loved our stay at Hidden Oak RV 1 at Brinn Farm.
This is one of those rare places where the photos are beautiful — but the experience is even better in person.
The site sits beside a stocked pond under a massive live oak, surrounded by wooded acreage. After check-in, we didn’t see another person the entire stay. It truly feels private, peaceful, and tucked away.
The hosts were outstanding. We received a full orientation when we arrived, and they checked in by text during our stay to make sure everything was going well. You can tell they genuinely care about their property and their guests.
The site itself is spacious and level. Full hookups worked perfectly, and everything was excellently maintained.
What really sets this place apart is the natural soundscape. At night we heard coyotes in the distance and frogs near the pond. During the day, birds at sunrise, fish jumping in the water, and even cows and peacocks off in the distance. It’s immersive in a way that’s hard to capture in photos.
I needed to work remotely one day, and my Starlink mini worked flawlessly — so it’s a great option if you need to blend work with a quiet retreat.
If you’re looking for privacy, nature, and thoughtful hosts, this is an exceptional Hipcamp and I would not hesitate to book it. We will absolutely stay again.

The first stay went so well, I chose Dave’s place again when driving through. I drove up to find a small bonfire with Dave and other campers gathered around. I was invited to join and we all shared for about 30 minutes. I slept in a little grove of trees under bright stars. Super convenient, sweet location.

Heart of the Country is great. Dave provided clear information about the location and the site was level. He met me when I arrived and answered a couple questions to help me set up. There were several other campers but I didn’t even know they were there - the place is very quiet. Stayed for one night but will be back again when I’m close to Blakeley Park.

Dave & Caren are very welcoming and gracious hosts. We shared a couple of meals together which was a highlight of the stay.
Their place has multiple options for boondocking or for power and water hookup, loads of space and little walking trails with multiple fire pits that you can use with plenty of firewood around to burn.
Sunsets are great, with local shops only a 15min drive away for all essentials, groceries, propane refills, hardware store, bank or a 3min drive from the dollar store if needed. Very quiet with loads of trees.
The best part though is you don't have to leash or pen your pets if you're traveling with them. This makes the stay absolutely the best reason to stay especially if you've been in areas where you had too prior.
My water heater decided to stop and I was offered the use of their shower, again showing fantastic hospitality.

We parked our class b camper van overnight.
It was remarkably peaceful.
The location was very easy to get to and once you arrived you felt like you were very secluded.
Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends. Dave greeted us when we arrived and wanted us to know if we needed anything to just reach out.

Our camping experience was awesome. Patrick’s Dad Pat met us at the entrance to the property and led us to a beautiful secluded spot. He also drove me around property to get me acquainted to the many acres available for walks. The property was extremely well maintained. It was renewing to have such a quiet property to enjoy walks, fishing (if interested) and star gazing. Everything as far as hookups was easy and we so enjoyed listening to birds, reading and relaxing. No cell service or WiFi but you will not miss it if you want to enjoy nature and solitude. We definitely would return for future visits.
